No love for Panch? The tortillas there are probably the best I've ever had and are one of the few times I eat a burrito and actually enjoy the wrapping just as much as the inside.

Look at the situation. It's a fine because he's gonna have to pay that money. We all know those summer workouts aren't actually optional. And the NCAA makes it's nearly impossible to just switch schools (well, for athletes, coaches are obviously a different story), so he doesn't have much of an option. The problem is that the big university is still gonna be making money off him. Never mind the fact they preach how "players are student-athletes and their compensation is the scholarship". No other employer can get away with basically firing an employee for three months but still making them come in and work for free. You take away the scholarship, cut them from the team. You can't have it both ways. (Not saying Barrett should have been cut, but he also shouldn't have been punished this way)

While making the playoffs is slightly far-fetched, come on, really? If we win out, and OSU beats MSU, (which is certainly not an unthinkable outcome), there's a three-way tie at the top and the tiebreaker comes down to playoff rankings, which who knows what happens.

Thanks, I'm pretty decent at teaching myself stuff, its just gonna come down to deciding if I think I can put in the time required. After this thread, I'm leaning towards maybe waiting a semester til after I've taken 217 and Spanish, but we'll see.

Haha yeah, I was pleasantly surprised at the amount of feedback this got (and how quickly it came in).
|2 years 14 weeks ago||Thanks, I've actually heard||
Thanks, I've actually heard similar things about 217 as 280 (sort of a mix between it wasn't that bad and wow it was really hard), so hopefully if I put in enough work, I'll be fine.
|2 years 14 weeks ago||Yeah, I'm not looking forward||
Yeah, I'm not looking forward to it. Luckily, since its only a prereq for stats, I can actually take it P/F, so assuming I pass it, it won't be a GPA killer. But I haven't had too much experience with proof based classes (I haven't actually taken a calc class at michigan, I took Calc BC and Calc 3 in high school), so I know I'm going to have to put in work.

Thanks for the info, if I end up taking it, I'll look into him. Although the time his classes are offered might have an impact too, but thanks.

I'm in LSA, so I don't really have much experience, but I have heard IOE commonly referred to as IOEasy (no disrespect to IOE majors, I've heard LS&Play too) so based off of that, you seem to be right. But I could be wrong.

EECS 183 is called Elementary Programming Concepts and EECS 280 is called Programming and Introductory Data Structures. 183 was majority C++, but for the final project we did, we used Python, HTML, and CSS too (we had to design a website). I think 280 is C++ also, but I'm not positive.
|2 years 14 weeks ago||Thanks. Yeah, with 183 this||
Thanks. Yeah, with 183 this year, the one thing that sort of annoyed me was how the two exams were worth so much compared to the projects. (each exam was 25% of your grade, while each project was 5% and the final project was 10%)
|2 years 14 weeks ago||Alright, was the grading more||
Alright, was the grading more exam based or project based? Or mixed? I guess the one thing that sort of annoyed me about 183 was that 50% of your final grade came from 2 exams, while the 5 projects plus the final project together, which was all the coding you did and pretty much the most time consuming part of the class, was only like 35%.
|2 years 14 weeks ago||Alright, taking 183 this||
Alright, taking 183 this semester, I felt like the class wasn't particularly difficult, just more time consuming than most of my previous classes. Although the first exam was pretty tough. But thanks, I seem to be getting the vibe that its sort of one of those classes that's either you're a coder or you're not, and this class will probably tell you which category you fall into.
|2 years 14 weeks ago||Alright, thanks a lot. So||
Alright, thanks a lot. So far, I'm sort of on the fence. I liked coding, and i would say I sort of had a knack for it, but I'm not sure if I love it, if that makes sense. And yeah, if I ended up taking 280, I would probably put off spanish for another semester.

|3 years 2 weeks ago||Still a money decision||
After reading this article, I still think this is mostly a money decision. The University saw that there was probably going to be a sharp decrease in demand with next year's schedule if they continued to keep the prices the same (which I doubt was ever seriously on the table), so they needed to make a reason for students to pay that high face value price. Is it better than last year's system? Probably, but I still doubt the leading decision to make this change was student satisfaction.
|3 years 2 weeks ago||$95?||
$95? Like the other reply said, you must have no experience with the student ticket market (which is understandable), but honestly, I doubt even regular tickets were fetching that much (except ND). The secondary market for student tickets is not even close to that. If you were patient last year, you could have very easily gotten every ticket outside of ND/OHIO for no more than $10, and even Ohio was going for face value with it being spring break. $42 isn't completely unreasonable, but for next year, when I can just as easily get them for under 100$ from other students, it's not realistic.
|3 years 2 weeks ago||Not applicable||
Not a terrible change, but the seating is irrelevant to me because the important part of that article is that they will be continuing to charge $300 for the sorry slate of games they have lined up next year. Fat chance I'll pay that.
|3 years 4 weeks ago||Disagree||
I disagree with this point, mainly because the facts don't back this up at all. This might have been the case a couple years ago, but student ticket statistics for the year are available here (http://www.mgoblue.com/tickets/students-bkm-season-plan.html) and looking at that table, if the lower student section was doubled to 1200 students, EVERY game (except the break games, but INCLUDING the exhibition games) would have filled that student section up. In fact, every game had at least 1500 students, and every big ten game was at or near the 2000 mark.
|3 years 4 weeks ago||Thanks||
Thanks, and don't get me wrong, I'm all for adding students to the lower bowl, at LEAST I would hope giving students the seats behind each basket. I'm just trying to get at why it hasn't happened so far. I would hope by next year (but more realistically two years), something can be done to add students to the lower bowl as our program solidifies itself.
