As I said, from a perspective of administrative cost. Not going anywhere near the political debate, just saying that the amount they spend on administration as a percentage of their overall budget is very low.

Trying to stay away from politics, but you're paying more to essentially subsidize people with low incomes and to bring the quality of insurance across the board up to a minimum standard (whether that is right or wrong is a whole different and substantially political conversation). Government run entitlements like social security and Medicare are actually incredibly efficiently run from an administrative cost standpoint.

All I remember MSA doing was passing resolutions about things they had no impact on, so the guy with the board seemed as well qualified as anyone.
|5 weeks 6 days ago||Point 1||
I actually would go the other way on point one. Not enough small fouls are called. If they called all the grabbing and bumping (especially off the ball) the game would flow more freely and there would be more of an emphasis on skill, whcih I think would make it a more pleasing product to watch.

I agree that in general there's really not much left to prove, but I honestly think this team could win the NIT. Would be nice to have a banner for a fourth straight year.

I get where you're coming from in general, but I think it's a fine line. If we're talking about rules like don't kill, be a decent person, take responsibility for your actions and such, I'm with you.
|7 weeks 6 days ago||Hmm||
Unlike the guy above, I don't think this makes any sense at all in regards to setting standards and teaching. I think what you teach by dogmatically sticking to rules that go against reason is that you are stubborn and that you can't be fully respected and taken seriously. Maybe it's the whole nurturing parent vs stern father thing, but sticking to non-sensical things just because you are the boss is a sign of weakness or lack of intelligence.

Interesting. I'll have to look into that.
|8 weeks 3 days ago||That's not necessarily always||
That's not necessarily always true. Unless I'm not smart enough to figure it out (which is possible) I don't know how I could avoid it in my situation. I have a rental home that I'm able to depreciate each year. All of my taxes are taken out of my check from my regular job. When the depreciation hits my income, I owe less. I am not sure how I could convince my employer to take less out of my checks.

Rahkman spent almost the entire game one on one with Russel and did quite well for himself. Huge factor in the game.

I happened to bring up Nevermind the other day. It got overplayed, but it's incredible.

I think height does matter. I have seen Spike and Trey struggle to inbound enough from under the basket to think it does matter. Beyond height, the downside of having your PG inbound is that you are putting your quickest player who is most likely to shake free and get open out of bounds with the ball.
|10 weeks 2 days ago||cost / benefit||
I don't think you can afford to be so rigid. As Brian always says, all of these guys average well under 5 fouls per 40 minutes. It's one thing when you are brining in someone who is a roughly equal replacement. When you are at a point where you only have 4 legitimate options for 4 non-big spots, you probably need to roll the dice.

Agreed. Beilein has been a 99% positive, but having a 6' pg in bound (Burke, Walton, Albrecht) and the two foul auto bench have been consistent mistakes on his part.

Get a job in someone's lab. Good experience and references. Look for summer intensive programs at other universities. Take advantage of career services (resume writing and interview practice). The UM degree is worth a ton, but you still have to learn to present yourself.

Biased as I live in Northville, but I think it's a great area. Good schools, relatively reasonable real estate prices (though on the high end) and great access (30 minutes to Detroit, 30 minutes to AA, 15 minutes to DTW).

For what it's worth, mgoblog broke it to me. I really really tried to keep my expectations in chek, but when the "It's Happening" post came up, I gave in and celebrated. That, to me, is the value of credibility. I have followed mgoblog for 5+ years now and Brian has been connected and correct enough that for me, I was only going to believe it when Brian said it, so the actual timing of other reporter's tweets is irrelevant to me.

We had debated getting rid of ours. The bad football was certainly a factor, but the price relative to the market was the biggest factor. Unless you are really tied to your exact seat there is very little tangible benefit to paying more than twice market value. We never intended to stop going, just to stop getting gouged.
|15 weeks 6 days ago||Whoa||
I am kind of shocked anyone noticed any of my comments. Crazy...
|16 weeks 5 days ago||Why?||
I get that they were wrong, but I think it's pretty unlikely that they're maliciously trying to make UM look bad. I don't think this passes the bar of important work. Reminds me of when reporters get all pissy with each other about who got something first.
|19 weeks 5 days ago||Jay||
The only thing that I think is really conclusive is that Jay had something to do with it because he knew where her car was. I suppose it all could have gone like he said, but that just doesn't make any sense to me. I think the most likely thing is that Jay and Adnan did it together for some reason (still not clear) and Jay figured his best bet was to get this deal and stay out of jail.
The total lack of physical evidence is the thing that keeps me second guessing whether Adnan was involved. Hard to believe that a 17 year old would be that good to leave no physical evidence at all.

If nothing else, it would make the next few games a little more interesting to watch. You know what you're getting with this set up, might be interesting to see what Nuss would do with total control.
|27 weeks 3 days ago||Countess||
It's not apparent in this (unless I overlooked it), but I am pretty sure Countess was benched for the entire second half. Taylor and Lewis were the corners almost exclusively and Hollowell came in as the nickel. I don't think Countess took another regular snap at corner after the TD. I realize it was a great throw and a tiny window, but that was the fourth straight TD on Countess' man.
|29 weeks 2 days ago||Customers||
The current environment in college football has turned fans into customers.When TV and ADs work to maximize revenue, they do that at the expense of fan loyalty. If I am a customer (I paid over $2000 for two tickets this season) my opinion is relevant to the situation as a whole. Without the support and money of the fans, there is no football. Hoke's attitude of defensiveness and combativeness with the media and fans opinions has obviously trickled down. We are not mindless and emotionless sources of money.

3-9. McGuffie and Shaw over Minor and Brown. Sheridan over Threet. Losing to Toledo and 4-8 Purdue. 18 point loss to Notre Dame, 14 point home loss to MSU, 35 point loss to OSU. All of this BEFORE the whole freep thing. The negativity and attitude were at least partially derived from this awful line.

Bill Martin was the AD when Rodriguez and Gerg were hired. Brandon said immediately that they needed to pay salaries on the same level as other big time schools and he backed that up.

Give me a break. Hot takes everywhere... Rodriguez didn't get the job done at michigan so he got fired. All of this whining about the university and tradition is ridiculous. As the head coach you are paid to be responsible for all of it. Good luck to him, but he failed at Michigan and anyone who thinks it was about to get better is nuts.
