It looks like MSU and Wayne hold public hearings on the days of votes and it seems UM does not. UM also had meetings in New York and California which does not allow the relevant public the chance to attend.

Lik MGrowOld said, they emailed last week offering up to 4 end zone tickets for App State for $40.

I think it is because the US made a substitution after the 90th minute.
|4 weeks 2 days ago||Second goal||
Why wasn't Yedlin offsides on the second US goal? He was practically on the end line. Is there some sort of allowance for not being a factor in the play?

The difference is that your performance as a student teacher isn't generating millions in revenue for your school district. And, no one is telling you that you can't try to get a deal endorsing trapper keepers or TI-85s. Is there a rule that says you can't get paid if some district really needed student teachers?

Does anyone know how they decide how many spots each confederation gets? I am having trouble finding a good link. Was wondering what it would take for CONCACAF to get more spots.

(disclaimer about not being an ardent follower...)
It seems that we might have been better off with Donovan, Edu, and Goodson / Evans as opposed to Green, Davis, and Chandler, right? It wouldn't necessarily have affected the starting lineup, but it seems like that gives more realistic options to compensate for late game situations, injuries or cards. It just seems a little nuts that there are three guys taking spots that it seems like you basically can't use.

Should NFL players take less or no money so there can be a professional field hockey or wrestling league with world class facilities?
|7 weeks 4 days ago||Maybe||
These things might come out in waves, but I got the email you copied a week or two ago. The story in Brian's post says a few months ago, so this might be a different communication.
|8 weeks 14 hours ago||Donovan||
"Are we secretly hoping for a mild but disqualifying injury amongst the attacking players? Maybe."
I admit this had crossed my mind. Do we think he's even the guy who would get the call?
|8 weeks 4 days ago||Nice||
I am happy to see this back. My soccer fandom has been evolving lately, and it's nice to get info in a familiar place.
It seems that popular opinion out there is that leaving Donovan off makes sense, but I just can't buy it. I know this is overly simplistic and will probably be slammed by soccer purists, but regardless of your form and commitment or whatever, you win soccer games by scoring goals and Donovan has proven he can score goals.
If the ball is on the spot in the 88th minute of a tie game, who do you want taking that kick? Donovan seems like the obvious choice to me.

The aisles at Michigan Stadium run right down the middle of the section. I think it depends on where in the stadium you are (sideline vs corner vs endzone) but in section 22 (sideline) the aisle runs between seats 12 and 13. I think in general the low teens are always going to be the ones on the aisle. 20s and low single digits will be well into the center of the section and far from the aisle.

I'm thinking the derby can be added to the Masters as a good example of successfully branding something without ruining it.

The website gave me trouble when trying to buy season tickets. Wouldn't let me edit my credit card using Chrome or IE. Finally got it to work on an out of date version of FireFox.

My 1997 UM / OSU ticket stub that I kept is for $28, so there's another data point.

This train is hard to follow.
So does this boil down to you think that they should not take these guys because it could stop us from getting '15 guys who wouldn't be good enough to beat out these guys as sophomores? Are you suggesting that Coach K and Bill Self promise guys playing time at their historically dominant programs who aren't good enough to beat out 2 star players with one year in a system? To me, it seems that if you don't think the '15 guys are good enough to beat these two out, you don't hold the '15 guys in very high esteem and we shouldn't be getting worked up about it.
Beilein has never hesitated to play younger guys over older guys if they're better (see Stauskas and McGary starting the Final Four over Morgan / Horford and Vogrich). If these particular '15 guys (or any '15 guys) are good enough, they will play, and if they're not then I think we'll be happy we grabbed some guys in this class.
|13 weeks 3 days ago||Nuts||
If they're really that high caliber they will beat these guys out. You almost seem to be more interested in winning recruiting wars than actual games. Good thing Stauskas didn't stay away because Vogrich was here.
|13 weeks 5 days ago||Club / Country||
I like the idea of club play, but it has been hard for me to really find a team. I cheer for UM because I was brainwashed into it and went to school there and I cheer for the Detroit professional teams because they've been there my whole life and I feel a pride for my home town.
With no MLS team and no history in Europe, it's been hard for me to really get hard core into European soccer even though I've watched it regularly for 5+ years now. I picked Spurs because they were in London (so I felt like there was some prayer of me getting there someday), weren't one of the teams that always won (seemed to easy) and had a sweet logo. I still hope they win and follow them, but it's just not the same. Not sure if it ever will be.
The USMNT on the other hand is a lot more fun for me because I feel like I have a little more stake in it, which I recognize is kind of ridiculous.
|14 weeks 1 day ago||Come on...||
"It's not the whole truth, but it's not untrue" sounds like something my 6 year old would tell me when she's trying to get out of trouble. I don't debate it was a no win, but it sure could have been a no lose. Half truths about depth charts and such are really not on the same level as this, and it's not close.
|14 weeks 1 day ago||Disagree||
I think there's a middle ground that a lot of people are in here that you kind of ignore or wash away. Saying "family matter" can only be explained by someone at the University lying to Hoke or Hoke lying to the media. There really isn't another explanation. So, if it was unclear legally how to phrase it, I don't think it's unreasonable for them to have come up with something other than an easily disproved lie.
|15 weeks 17 hours ago||Agree||
I turned it off after about 25 minutes to watch the Tigers. It just wasn't interesting. I noticed on twitter that the scrimmage was starting at 3:15, so I put it back on for a bit, but it really wasn't interesting.
|15 weeks 20 hours ago||Demand||
I'm happy to see such high demand, if nothing else. It seems inevitable that the World Cup will be back in the US in the next 20 years and hopefully this will show that Michigan Stadium would be a good venue. If they can get the elevated surface to work (and I don't see any reason it wouldn't), you could probably get 100,000 in easily. Perfect for a World Cup final...
|15 weeks 2 days ago||True||
I don't disagree that there's great value to the education, my issue is the lack of voice in determining the compensation.
|15 weeks 3 days ago||Overly simplified||
I think that's too simple. If you were good enough, you could have seen which coop out there had the best pay and benefits. It's been 15 years since I was in college, but there were stark differences between interning with Medtronic and doing work with a lab on campus. And, if you're good enough, you can always strike it out on your own before you get a degree (like most of the biggest tech guys of the last 30 years).
|15 weeks 3 days ago||Negotiation||
I feel like I'm always saying the same thing here, but to me the difference is that as a regular employee, you can negotiate your conditions of employment. Pro bound football players are barred from the nfl for three years and have no other reasonable option to get to the nfl. If the players had a say in the arrangement then a union wouldn't be necessary.
|15 weeks 5 days ago||if we're being complete...||
They didn't go three times in the last 12 years because they were playing in the national title game.

A backcourt of Horton, Dion Harris, and Lester Abram with Beilein and Jordan coaching them could have been amazing.

Technically, you are right . Northville Township borders on Plymouth Township, but actual Northville is about ten minutes from actual Plymouth, so you got that going for you.
