They've been around for…

They've been around for several years.  I believe they date back to the Before Times (pre-pandemic).  The ricotta filled is my favorite.

The most surprising team for…

The most surprising team for me on the list is UCLA.  They've had maybe 1-2 good teams per decade over the past 30+ years.

To answer your question: …

To answer your question:  the January 15 deadline only applies to underclassmen.  Quinten was a 5th year player.

So far, I've just read the…

So far, I've just read the summary, but I was puzzled by this line:  "the first team to hold every opponent to under 25 points since 1904 Minnesota".  Many U-M teams have done this, including the 1981, 1985, 1986, and 1997 teams.  Saban's 2009 and 2011 Alabama teams did it as well.

Perhaps there is some qualifier missing from the sentence?

Donovan Edward's 2nd TD, as called on the French broadcast:

Make room on the mantel!

For those who don't already…

For those who don't already know, kickoff is at 7:45.

Washington is outgaining…

Washington is outgaining Texas 10.2-5.9 ypp, but it's tied at halftime.  Reminds me of another game today.

The rule which allows the…

The rule which allows the defense to force a delay of game by running slowly off the field needs to be changed this summer.  Instead of basing it on the defense's substitution speed, there should be objective limits:  the offense must complete its substitutions with 10 seconds remaining on the game clock; the ball can't be snapped within 7 seconds after the last offensive substitution.  If the defense can't get their guys in position within 7 seconds, too bad for them.

I decided back in December…

I decided back in December to take tomorrow morning off.  By noon, I figure I'll be in shape to work.  Fortunately, I work from home.

Pass protection is so much…

Pass protection is so much better than I could ever have imagined.  I was expected PSU redux.

Michigan's offense and pass…

Michigan's offense and pass rush doing better than I expected.  Run defense and special teams worse.

Wow, I was expecting Ferentz…

Wow, I was expecting Ferentz to kick a sad field goal there.  Instead, they went for it and predictably failed.

This raises the question: …

This raises the question:  are TV sports commentators really that stupid, or are they just trying to pander to a stupid audience?

Unfortunately, the ND-OSU…

Unfortunately, the ND-OSU game is over.  I think I'll turn off the TV til the tOSU game starts at 8.

Does Clemson even know how…

Does Clemson even know how to play defense?  With 4 minutes left and a 1 point lead, they fall for play-action so badly that nobody is within 30 yards of the TE.

They are making me appreciate Jesse Minter.

The first B1G West bowl game…

The first B1G West bowl game features no offense.  Surprise, surprise.

The playoff committee…

The playoff committee members are now the biggest Louisville fans in the world.

Even Saban couldn't figure…

Even Saban couldn't figure out that he could've taken a knee on first down there.  It's amazing how all coaches struggle with this.

Imagine the defensive…

Imagine the defensive equivalent of the Iowa offense.  They couldn't cover and couldn't tackle.

Keilan Robinson just put a…

Keilan Robinson just put a spear through the heart of the Buckeyes' playoff chances.

We've found one thing the…

We've found one thing the Cowboy defense can do well:  jog off the field slowly to force a delay of game.

Vegas had the over/under at…

Vegas had the over/under at 57.5.  We're already at 49 with 2:11 left in the half.

This Cowboy defense is…

This Cowboy defense is hilarious.  They can't tackle, but they can't cover either.

From the official NCAA…

From the official NCAA rulebook:

Use of Tobacco
ARTICLE 7. Players, squad members and game personnel (e.g., coaches,
athletics trainers, managers and game officials) are prohibited from using
tobacco products from the time the officials assume jurisdiction until the referee
declares the game over.
PENALTY—Disqualification. Dead-ball foul. 15 yards at the succeeding
spot

(This is irrelevant of course, since we've never seen Harbaugh use tobacco during a game).

I've always used chemical…

I've always used chemical toe-warmers for outdoor activities in winter weather.  After reading your post, I'm not going to change.

Get well soon.

 I'm enjoying the fake laugh…

I'm enjoying the fake laugh and forced smile of Urban Meyer right now.  He's in agony.

(No subject)

In every home game vs OSU in…

In every home game vs OSU in the Harbaugh era, U-M has had some new offensive wrinkles in the game.  Here area a few I remember:

'15:  a couple trick plays involving Peppers

'17:  a couple trick plays, including the fake-left, fake-right, throw-to-TE-in-the-middle (O'Korn missed it, I believe).

'19:  roll-out reverse to Sairistil on opening drive (TD).

'21:  fake swing to Edwards with end-around to Henning on opening drive; flea-flicker to Sainristil in 3rd quarter.

Make that 31-10.  Ball game…

Make that 31-10.  Ball game.  The SEC has been pretty bad in OOC play this year.

New Mexico State about to…

New Mexico State about to beat Auburn.  Up 24-10, first and goal, 2 minutes left.

This is a good companion…

This is a good companion piece to today's Neck Sharpies.

Does anyone know if there is…

Does anyone know if there is a college football highlight show that is not on ESPN?  I don't know of any.

Half of College Football Final is just fluff:  interview quotes, meaningless opinions, helmet stickers and other stupidities.  I watch it for the highlights and fast-forward through all the nonsense.

If there's another highlight show I'd love to check it out.

Even though Ole Miss only…

Even though Ole Miss only trails by only one TD, I can't see how they can win this.  They have to work to move the ball, while UGA moves it effortlessly.  It will take multiple fluky plays (tipped passes, fumbles, etc) for an upset to happen.

Just learned elsewhere that…

Just learned elsewhere that it is 12:05.

Does anyone know when the…

Does anyone know when the exact kickoff time is?  12:10 or something like that?

Their TD drive went 25 yards…

Their TD drive went 25 yards on 7 plays after a blocked punt.  They are beyond satire.

I just noticed that today is…

I just noticed that today is Iowa's second game on Peacock, an appropriate place for them to play, but unlikely to win NBC any new subscribers.

Nebraska lost, Wisconsin…

Nebraska lost, Wisconsin lost, Minnesota is losing.  Is Iowa going to win the division by default (again)?

But if you combined Allar's…

But if you combined Allar's legs, Locke's arm, and McCord's brains, you'd have. . . . forget it, your'e right.

I've already taken that game…

I've already taken that game out of my channel rotation.  10 is enough to win for OSU.  There are some good PAC/SEC games on now.

Wisconsin should just run…

Wisconsin should just run the wildcat.  Locke is Sheridan-esque.

It was a 3rd-and-1 stop.

It was a 3rd-and-1 stop.

There's the USC defense we all know and love.  Score tied, unless Cal goes for 2.

This Cal-USC game is…

This Cal-USC game is certainly entertaining.  The game is tied; Cal has the ball with 5 minutes left in USC territory.

After one golden drive,…

After one golden drive, Leavitt turns it over.  It was foreordained.

Just when you thought MSU…

Just when you thought MSU was coming back, they did a failed onside kick accompanied by a targeting penalty.

Gophers take the lead.

You didn't have to be Nostradamus to predict that Sparty would hand this game away like a three button suit at the Salvation Army.
