That man (who is awesome by the way) was part of the band. Cheerleading was seperate. I am one of the nameless gentlemen that held up the pretty girls everyone oogles.
Yeah liability was a big thing. We were grounded, aka couldn't throw girls around, flip or throw pyramids. Pretty much the only crap that the guys joined the team to do. It was a pretty nutty time.
Now everything is ok but our numbers are just severely limited. 30 on the field per half. Why Brian noticed there was a severe lack. We can all show up for the party but only so many are allowed on the field.
When he came in we came under pressure to fit "the ideal" of the cheerleader. We had a new stringent set of rules to abide by and our organization's leadership was pretty shook at the seriousness of the rules AND how sternly they were told we HAD to abide.
It was made clear through meetings/emails that our new AD had an idea in place and we would abide or be kicked out of the association.
Then came the restricting of stunting (throwing the girls around) and tumbling (flipping). We were told we couldn't do any of it unless it was AD approved. It is ironic because we were sort of the first to revolt a bit. The young guys all tried to kick out our leadership so that we could get our right to stunt/tumble back.
Eventually we had to sign waivers etc. in order to even be there. All weird stuff.
I am an alumni cheerleader and part of the association that works with the Athletic Department about homecoming every year.
This year there was some confusion about wether we were allowed to be on the field at all and actually received an email saying we weren't two weeks before the game.
Well someone in the association actually contacted Jim Harbaugh (heard of him?) and he replied the night of the Maryland game that he was going to get this fixed. I could post the full email if there is interest.
Anyway, he contacted Hackett, things moved around and we were allowed on the field for at least the first half. All of this is a long way of saying that may be why the numbers were low this year.
Also you have to sign up for the association, pay some dues, have a uniform, etc. etc. 80's and 90's cheer are problably also a little busy with kids.
Have two varsity letters from cheerleading, was a "Captain" and have to tell you all the girls and guys are honored to have been a part of the team and represent our University.
Above 7 wins and it is a successful season.... Trying to keep my hopes in check but it's hard when you have an awesome maniac running around fueling the hype fires!
So then we should completely ignore his unheard of and ridiculous responses to emails that he penned during his tenure?
To me that is a direct link to who he is as a person. He didn't HAVE to respond to thos emails, he could have ignored them.... I agree the POSHB was harsh but I think his track record warrants the title.
I wish him well and feel bad for him after the crazy stuff OSU pulled with his main recruiter (I believe).
Karan is a great pick up and someone who really wanted to be here. I am excited for that pick up after reading the diary and tape. I kind of wish we could all just move on from Weber and start conentrating on the players we have.
I'm glad to see Borges using Funchess like that.. His blocking has been questionable at best, so why not use him on an almost slot role.
Also, Buttt is blocking early well, which is a contribution. I'd like to see more targets as well, but I think having Gardner force anything is a bad bad bad bad idea.
I was very happy with shifty Lewan... Added dimensions to the run game. Plus, going right to left, tackle to guard, like that is not easy at all.... Added to my respect for Lewan and Schofield exponentially.
Going forward this could be a huge stop gap for us. Makes me feel much better about the B1G season.
this will help the rest of the offense. If DG gets a few more seconds and doesn't feel like happy feet are necessary then he could make better decisions. However this does depend on if this actually makes any kind of difference...... Please football gods please.

Also Gameday in AA which I am using as a valid excuse to drink all day.
Thank you, needed that.
That is all.
Who cares?
Game week.
I loved cheering the Christmas (Winter) break Men's and Women's Basketball games. The alumni band killed it and had so much fun.
I just enjoyed connecting to people who loved this University as much as I do. That is why I love homecoming.. That is why I love coming Home.
Go Blue.

Hey Guys -
I am an alumni cheerleader and part of the association that works with the Athletic Department about homecoming every year.

Thanks for being the MC, Brian!
a bit of a dick about the way they both called for a loss last week and I feel bad because I generally do enjoy the columns.
Stuff is probably in a bit of a hectic nature as they moved the game up. I hope they don't stop it, though. It is usually good fun.
But last week's sucked.
My alcohol induced spelling was terrible.
This picture brings them right back.
Punt: Here is how we win.
Counter-Punt: Here is how we lose.
That is why I always liked this post.
Doubtful -
We all had our fun. She was with me in the "Lloyd beats Urban" Bowl and several other great games.
I think she is happy to just be a proud UofM alum, oh yeah, and hot.
Have two varsity letters from cheerleading, was a "Captain" and have to tell you all the girls and guys are honored to have been a part of the team and represent our University.
Two of the best years of my life.
She is glad she is internet famous.
For the record: One of the sweetest girls you would ever meet.
In addition, llike almost all of the girls on the team, smart as hell.
Here is the two of us all the way from 2006
I was on the Cheerleading team with this young lady when I graduated in '08.
She married a good buddy of mine and she is most definitely 28.
Now a lawer and is, still, very attractive.
This made me laugh out loud. Thank you.
We would get ready, meet at the Grad around 7, show up at the Jug around 9 and go drink too many Long Islands.
I was '08, so hopefully that is still alive. Saturdays we would host parties a lot of the time.
This video is amazing. I never knew it existed before today.
Thank you.
A very close second to Braylon-fest vs. MSU. I was at both, loved both...
One thing you have to say, and JUB did in Endzone, one thing Brandon got right was the night game.
Something about comebacks under the lights that make it amazing.
31-14 Michigan
It's amazing how much you don't realize how awesome HD is for football until you watch an old game.
That and the score/time/down always being on screen.
Still, great watch. Thanks for posting.
I would.
I laughed out loud at this.
Flip the switch on Minny.

Thanks for the preview just picked up the book on Amazon.

My boss is going to be so mad....
I couldn't stop watching Peruball.
Inspiring that Harbaugh brings that passion to every aspect of his life. Excited to see how this translates on the field.
So then we should completely ignore his unheard of and ridiculous responses to emails that he penned during his tenure?

is one wordy and poorly thought out meme.
However I do like that our coach is already starting to get hate instead of ridicule from other schools.
There are no evil dogs, just good boys/girls waiting to come out.
However that dog is clearly planning something.
Very cool to me that he Harbaugh can talk about his players and give those facts... Even after only knowing them a short time.
Has to go a long way with his players that he takes such a big interest. I can't wait to see what happens with a full year of recruiting.
HARBAUGH
But don't you think Herman leaving could have some bearing on his thought process?
Not to mention that Harbaugh can swing his NFL pedigree on to the table and just let it sit.
Who knows, though. I wear Maize and Blue colored glasses.... and a Harbaugh shirt.
It is pretty easy to see how much his time at Michigan molded him... This would have a been a good thing to show all of the haters before it Happened.
Tom Crean still creeps me out.
