There was a recent post on all the UM grads playing in Europe.  Young, traveling, making good money.  And with a degree.

Agents have little to lose by pushing players to declare.  There are only the 60 guys who get drafted, the agent get better odds of having a client drafted if he gets 20 to jump than 10, and ten is better than five.

But if 120 declare, or 60, only 60 are getting drafted, so the risk is on the players' side, and the advice comes from the guy with no financial risk.

It is very difficult not to believe someone telling you how good you are, at something you have worked all your life to be good at.

Webber took bad legal advice.  One of the first things I was told about criminal defense,  if your client is  subpoenaed to testify before a grand jury, tell him/her to take the 5th amendment unless offered immunity.

There is nothing criminal about accepting gifts from people.  NCAA rules are not criminal laws.  Webber's criminal issue was lying to the grand jury.

On turnovers, they are mainly luck, and, as the statisticians say, reversion to the mean is to be expected.  I think it is Phil Steele who pegs this as the main determining factor in big changes in wins and losses season to season.

yes, I am in the UM Club of Greater Detroit, but, you should come to next year's event, December 9, at Laurel Park Manor in Livonia.  It is a great family event.

It was a world of difference from my ten previous trips. Same 4 or  5 to 1 ratio of positive/polite comments to F bombs.

After the game, someone did body check my 21 yr old daughter, behind me, but her ex-Marine boyfriend responded appropriately.

We responded to verbal taunts by wishing them luck in their bowl game, against ND for the BCS title.

walking across the bridge over the Olentangy, to the shuttle bus area, it was positively somber.  They make more noise when they lose.  I asked several people if it were just hitting them that the probation really cost them, but that was not cited by anyone.

Oddly enough, after warning the ex-Marine boyfriend of what to expect from Buckeyes, a grievously over-served Wolverine fan sat next to me just before kickoff.  Loud, obnoxious, bumping into people.  He tossed his cookies in the second quarter and two of his friends escorted him out of the stadium.

I believe it was Virginia, 9-8-71, 56-0 UM win.

We kicked off, the ball rolled into the end zone, the Virginia players stood around, a UM player fell on it for a TD.

Bob is as good a friend as UM football has.  He still produces the annual bust, and, if you ever worked with a non-profit volunteer group, that does one huge event per year, well, it is a lot of work to preside, and he is as described, ever gracious, down to earth, and, funny.
