That Cade article is weird. I have no I’ll will toward Cade, but it’s such a puff piece. How does it not mention that Cade was terrible when he did play last season? Obviously he had all that frustration on his mind.
Also, no mention of how he was a bit of an ass hole on his way out - fine. I get why you wouldn’t include that, but the dude is playing a PR game.
Harbaugh played it exactly how he should have. He gave Cade a chance, hand made a decision on meritocracy.
I live in the Bay Area and would also love for the B1G to take Cal and Stanford at this point. That would be so much fun, and feels great from a cultural alignment standpoint (way better than USC). That would be a silver lining in all of this.
For all of a Jim Harbaugh’s quirks, he’s not a liar. If anything he’s honest to a fault. And he makes it very clear that he values the weight of his word… even when it pisses others off.
If he did intentionally mislead investigators, this would be a massively unworthy fight to pick. UM would have suspended him a game or 2 and call it a day. It was burgers, nobody cares except the NCAA.
The only reason you fight this and hire a lawyer is because Jim cares about being honest, and his reputation… so he’s not going to admit it if he didn’t do it, end of story.
The NCAA will still probably suspend him because they can. And now it’ll probably be for more bc he isn’t admitting what they want him to. I dunno why they bother though… just keep on telling their refs to make BS calls against us on the field. That’s the real punishment.

They 100 percent should cancel. It is beyond negligent if they don’t. I’m sitting at home with Covid right now that we got from our nanny. My first test came back negative... I got my 2nd test 5 days after exposure and it came back positive. If they practiced with this dude a few days ago, very likely he was at his most contagious point, and his teammates wouldn’t be showing up as positives yet. It’s utterly insane and straight up wrong to play this game.

I would assume there are many conversations going on with lawyers regarding what can and can’t be said, which I think may unfortunately prevent the level of admitting accountability that we’d like to see.
Given the amount of financial loss that the university is about to experience this year, I also imagine it’s a scary as hell time to experience a massive catastrophe that would prevent many donors from ponying up cash (which I view as a good thing because it may force organizational accountability).
This is truly the moment where our institution will define itself either as validation of the standard we define as “Michigan Men,” or as validation of every opposing fan bases view of Michigan as self-righteous hypocrites who are totally full of sh*t. I hope It’s the former, but expectations are low based on previous actions.

That article is scathing and truly damning... that they had an internal report highlighting such issues, that they seemed to dismiss the data and barely made any changes other than “you can wear earrings” in the following year, and that it took former players speaking publicly to get Doyle fired...

Anyone know where or how I can catch a game in Melbourne, Australia? The game next week is 2 AM on Fox. Streaming on espn seems to work over here, but I don’t think Fox works.
Colorado’s offense looked fun this weekend. They were spreading the field, taking deep shots, giving their receivers chances to make plays (ran a flea flicker that turned into a 96-yard TD). If you compare it to our offense I honestly don’t know why any receiver recruit would want to play football at Michigan.

I love watching that Denard video and will forever appreciate him as an athlete, but it bums me out thinking about how there are no awesome clips like that from OSU or MSU games (although his senior-year run against OSU at the end of the 1st half was epic).

The B1G knows that this is bad for them, and that the refereeing was uneven at best. If they were to fine Harbaugh anything beyond the standard, you better believe this would draw a heck of a lot more attention to the situation. That would mean media would dig into actually reviewing the tape, and everyone would see how bad the B1G screwed up here. That's the last thing they want... Their only choice was to give Harbaugh the standard penalty and hope that this doesn't turn into a longer and more drawn out story.
This to me is the biggest sign that the B1G knows they screwed up. And if I'm Harbaugh and Manuel, I double down on that and refuse to pay until the B1G opens an investigation into the officiating.
These rumors always feel less untrue when mods let the post stay on the board for more than a few minutes. The mods are generally quick at taking down baseless speculation... Disappointing for whichever recruit it is.
Instead of hanging it from the rafters, create a display around the concourse (haven't been to crysler in a while, but like in one of those glass case displays). As part of the display, include a short bit on the ncaa sanctions. That is a more powerful message than trying to pretend that either the sanctions or the Fab 5 never happened....
Most players rush to heave that half court shot. Curry knew exactly where he was going to shoot from and dribbled to the exact spot he wanted to shoot from. He could have easily taken a shot closer to the basket if he wanted to push. Ridiculous. I live in SF and you could hear people screaming from the bars down the whole block.
We will never be a consistently elite team until we start engaging in the same shady recruiting tactics that every other big time program does. We were 15 years ahead of the curve in that one. I'm not making a case for moving the needle one way or the other, but it's just the reality.
Mike Greenbergs comment about SOTS being the reason players have egos was one of the stupidest rants I've ever heard. Yeah, it's all about Harbaughs celebratory event. It has nothing to do with schools offering kids 200k to play there, or ESPN going nuts over hat ceremonies, and creating a whole media circus around signing day, or their own high school all star game...or their year-round recruiting coverage. I would have loved to see him engage Jarbaugh in that convo on air.

How does this compare to star ratings for the non-Super Bowl teams? Do the Panthers/Broncos have a higher % of 5 star starters than the Browns/Lions? That's what I'd be interested in.
if you get into Michigan as a student 1st semester senior year, and then get failing grades in 2nd semester just because you think you made it already, the university will pull your acceptance. My mom was an academic advisor at mich and she spent my whole senior year warning me about that. I guess that's why the Swenson thing isn't such a big deal to me.
