The rumors on a visit are true.  But it will be to Maryland, not Alabama.

Not really

They just repeat press articles.  That quote is a direct quote from a recent Mike Ferrell article.  Here's the full paragraph from Ferrell:

Michigan is the team to beat for O'Daniel followed by Clemson and now possibly Nebraska. The Hokies lead for Fuller with Alabama and Clemson having the best shot of stealing him away right now. Both are expected to announce at the U.S. Army All-American Bowl in January so this will be a long haul.

Believe it or not

But Spence is actually a strong lean to Maryland.

Looks like he has essentially

Looks like he has essentially no upsets, with the Sweet 16 consistenting of nothing but the top 4 seeds.  He might as well have used the equally accurate statistical rule of "hey let's just pick the higher seed" since they were seeded higher for a reason.

Dude should stick with politics.

No. I think he wants a five minute phone call to be made, which seems quite reasonable.

Rawls would be a huge get. Nice!

Very good chance

That O'Brien ends up at Michigan as long as the new staff recruits him just as hard

This is a great post.  No

This is a great post.  No coach is going to come in and say something outrageous like "I refuse to adapt to my talent."  But every coach is going to focus on what he knows how to teach and believes in.  I could never understand why people got so excited with those Borges quotes.  The guy's going to run his system, with a few tweaks here and there.  That's that.

Yes, we do.

Yes, we do.

This isn't shocking.

This isn't shocking.  Everyone knew we were going to need to take some flyers on kids this class due to the very late coaching changes.

Dee is one of the most

Dee is one of the most down-to-earth, well-respected kids out there is this recruiting class.  To suggest that he's all about himself because he didn't pick your school makes you come off a lot more self-absorbed than him.

The main concern for me is

The main concern for me is recruiting, and my concern has a lot to do with the age of our staff as well.  A staff of primarily old, white guys is going to have a tougher time competing for recruits for a number of reasons.

It will be interesting to see

It will be interesting to see what base defense he installs.  The Ravens are really a hybrid 3-4 team that runs a lot of 4-3 looks.

Wish I could have got some of that gear. Awesomet of Rod to do that. Great person.

Not known as a recruiter, at least when he was at Auburn. Not sure of how hoke deployed him at SDSU

I'm not sure why you are

I'm not sure why you are bringing this up for the 4th time on this board.  The guy is donating his gear for local charity.  What's there to think about aside from the fact he's a good person who cares about the community?

Keep the demons in your head locked close, please, until you discover an alternative motivation, if that's your thing.

Right.  Wasn't there a story

Right.  Wasn't there a story from about a week ago where the AD was quoted stating that Hoke was talking with Michigan?

The fact that it was

The fact that it was different does nothing to change the fact that we ran a spread option last year.  The spread option doesn't consist solely of a single play -- the zone read -- just like an I doesn't consist solely of an Iso.

If you think Alabama runs a

If you think Alabama runs a pro-style offense, you don't much about one of the following: (1) pro-style offenses or (2) Alabama's offense.

I know, can you believe those

I know, can you believe those Florida freshmean and sophmores didn't win a Rose Bowl after two years on campus?!?!

Every coach adapts, including Rod. The offense this year was very different with Denard then it was with Tate last year and both were different on the heavy zone read systems used with pat white and different from the Clemson and Tulane offenses also. But the philosophy remained the same. Our new OC has run a west coast system for 25 years. Hiring him to run a new philosophy would be idiotic. It's an odd hire in my opinion based on the current skill set, which is young and very good at running an offense based on a dramatically different philosophy.

I hope you're right, but

I hope you're right, but hiring an OC who has 20+ years of experience running a very different system is not the best way to adapt.

Not a huge fan of this hire

His Auburn offenses steadily declined until he was finally run out of a town, a year before Tuberville was fired

Yes sir! Yes sir!
Solid update from ESPN Insider "Michigan DE Brandon Graham already has emerged as the leader of the North defense. Graham is quick with good upper-body strength and technique. He never stops working, either. His motor is just ridiculous."
Florida fans are already Florida fans are already confident about him, FWIW, which likely isn't much from that bunch
He wants to play offense Was high on Michigan last spring when he wanted to play QB, now he wants to be a WR. Would fit in well as a slot here, although I realize that's not a huge need right now. But very, very fast. Hopefully we can get a visit. Too good of an athlete to ignore.
Blake Sims Hey Tom, any news on a Blake Sims visit after his decomit from Bama?
Herb Hand If Magee leaves I think Herb Hand would be the number one choice to replace him. I'd also be pretty excited about Hand, who stuided under Rod (and was one of W.V.'s best recruiters) and also spent time working with Malzhan.
