just what the Pistons need: a third string center. Joe Dumars was replaced by a mean ol' alien a few years back you guys.

we also have like a thousand comments on any uniform changes for any random team and it's not like people kept their opinions on Anthony Davis' unique facial hair to themselves (probably among other examples). |
| 12 hours 10 min ago | As to your second point... |
it's partially true either way you want to word it. The text of what was voted on in both houses and signed by the president is this:
and then lists a whole bunch of exceptions and specifically includes some other entities. All of the aspects of the law we know today were formed by federal bureaucrats, to use the wording above. The three pronged test, the inclusion of revenue sports, ect., was formed and can be changed without specific congressional approval. In fact, I believe the Secretary of Education could change the current standards without even presidential approval. |
| 13 hours 6 min ago | Well... |
Eisenhower did beat Rutgers starting two ways. Rutgers is big time football, right? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1912_Army_Cadets_football_team |
| 13 hours 16 min ago | Obviously coaches aren't nearly as important as players... |
but if Nike was really interested in making Oregon the premier program in college football, why don't they have the most highly paid coaching staff right now? All of the coaches get endorsement deals, so why doesn't Nike bankroll a fifteen million dollar coaching staff at Oregon? I think the big distinction is that Nike isn't interested in Oregon being anything special; Phil Knight is the one with that interest. A quick search doesn't show that Nike has given anything significant to Oregon beyond a standard apparel deal and a few apparel exclusives that seem normal given their proximity. Knight isn't going to be able to go to a shareholder meeting and justify pouring excessive amounts of money into endorsement deals for a twenty-five member class. Also, I doubt Clowney or Manziel would get any less interest from Nike because they play for South Carolina or TAMU. |
| 16 hours 43 min ago | M is definitely tops of any |
M is definitely tops of any program east of Oklahoma, and might be tops at any program east of Arizona (which would be inclusive of Oklahoma) if you can really stretch an argument. I must really be confused here, but how else is the original sentence getting read? Edit: Okay, yeah. I was using Arizona as another possible geographic point, not name a possibly better program east of Oklahoma. |
| 1 day 2 hours ago | Haven't been to Alumni Field... |
but Michigan is second to none east of Oklahoma (possibly Arizona if you're very good at arguing). If you want to watch a nationally elite team, softball is right there, and it's an added attraction because Hutch probably has limited seasons in the dugout and might be the best coach in Ann Arbor right now. I recognize exactly how much that statement means, by the way, and I stand by it. |

| 2 days 2 hours ago | Seth is the Associate Editor... |
the guy who does Dear Diary and Hokepoints on the front page (among other things, I've been drinking for a couple hours and can't think of them off the top of my head), and he copyedits all of the front page content. I had asked him about your potential diary since that's his job description and he did some copyediting and had a few notes. |

when I was playing nobody even kept track of hits, so I'm probably not your guy here. If I had a CenterIce bat signal I would put it up, but sadly I don't. Also I wanted to tell you how sorry I was about the emails we exchanged a while back. I definitely thought I had replied to you with everything, but it doesn't look like it. I did do the stuff you had wanted, and Seth chimed in as well, but I guess the reply got lost in the shuffle. You'll have a reply by tomorrow night. Again, sorry for the non-response. |

beautiful pass, and Paille took advantage. That play was just amazing, nothing else to say. |
| 2 days 3 hours ago | Thank you for that. |
Seriously, about to start it. The girlfriend just told me she's heard that it's totally different than his previous stuff and is a bit on the odd side, so I'm pretty excited to listen to this right now. Completely agree with your comment in the last music thread, Kanye is a douche but he's definitely a great musician (same tone as the general talking about Mel Gibson in Imaginationland). |

I'm guessing Detroit wouldn't mind quadrupling their population (going from 18 to 3 in the US), doubling their tourism numbers, gaining anything like the downtown area including the tallest building in the country (is there a better downtown in America?) which has two top ten universities bookending it and quadrupling their Fortune 500 HQ's. Also all of this hypothetically would be happening while drastically reducing crime and adding an unbelievable amount of wealth. It's obvious that any US city with maybe 2-3 exceptions would kill to be Chicago. |
| 3 days 4 hours ago | Cheap leftovers at the apartment... |
and probably cheap specials at the bar, but there's live music, good food and pool, so not bad for a post-celebration of the girlfriend's 21st. Wishing I had some of the Pappy Van Winkle 20 that is sitting in my uncle's house in A2, though. |
| 3 days 13 hours ago | That's incorrect. |
The rule is five years to play four. Morris could use a redshirt year as an academic freshman, sophomore, junior or senior. |
| 3 days 13 hours ago | Assuming the facilities in your particular sport are okay... |
can you imagine a better recruiting pitch for a women's/non-revenue athlete? Especially in Pac 12-centric sports, I really don't know how they lose a whole lot of recruiting battles, even to UCLA or Cal. |
| 3 days 13 hours ago | There's a new account. |
If the new account breaks the same rules, it will be deleted. Until then, having parody accounts of other board members is just a recipe for a terrible posting environment for everybody, and we're not going to judge who might "deserve it" or not. Edit: How did this get placed above WolvinLA2's comment? Weird. |
| 4 days 2 hours ago | As much as certain posters were attached to him... |
parody accounts of other MGoUsers have always been a no-no. |

I turned the game off for like two hours in addition, in case the apathy wasn't clear there either. I will say last night's game was good enough to make tomorrow something to get excited about, though. Say what you will about either team, that's just good hockey right there. Mainbar, I could go either way. Got a fraternity brother I'm close to that's a big Spurs fan, but Howard getting another ring (even playing like three minutes in the series) would be a cool story line. |
| 5 days 1 hour ago | Don't really care one way or another... |
but wouldn't it be more like Lidstrom taking over Calgary for the 2013 season? Manning is a low-level guy on the staff who still has three years experience as a coach before being a position coach at M. Hart is going on two years experience as a coach and is still a position coach at a MAC program. |
| 5 days 1 hour ago | I thought Boston would take it in regulation... |
but I will say that the Bolland goal to cut it to 3-2 was some of the prettiest play I've seen this playoff season, absolutely perfect ten seconds or so. Also the Hawks lucked out on the Oduya goal, although it's not like Boston can't catch a break either. |
| 5 days 2 hours ago | Yeah I saw that through the RW Twitter feed. |
When it comes to casual sports watching, though, getting it on the cable box is a must. I'll watch soccer I don't care much about on TV (no knock on it, just not in my usual programming) before putting hockey I don't care much about on the computer. They have a better deal than M hockey, though, free streaming of every game through a legit website. Edit: Well apparently I was an idiot for turning this game off at the end of regulation. Anyone else watching Chicago v. Boston in 3OT? |
| 5 days 3 hours ago | Good regulation game in Chicago... |
turned it off in the OT intermission because whatever. Wish someone would televise the AHL playoffs or even just the finals. It would cost like six dollars for the rights and it's not like this is the busiest season for sports. |
| 5 days 11 hours ago | OT: Things that should not be talked about with kids? |
Obviously political. |
| 5 days 12 hours ago | Hockey quirk. |
The Stanley Cup isn't an NHL trophy. Back in the day, those teams won Cups without playing in the NHL. It's only since 1947 that the Stanley Cup is (by official agreement) exclusively awarded to the NHL playoff champion, although no non-NHL team had won it since 1926. |
| 5 days 12 hours ago | That New York dot... |
would look hilariously different if their lineup was: Jets, Rangers, Mets and Knicks. Any combination not including the Yankees would work, though. |
| 5 days 13 hours ago | Why the Illinois hate? |
Their undergraduate engineering is ranked above Michigan's and they have the number three undergrad business school in the Big Ten. Also it's obviously not an all-inclusive list, but I think you're missing a few from your 1a and 3 lists. USMA, USNA, USAFA, MIT, Caltech, Chicago for starters. |
| 6 days 4 hours ago | On the USA kick in the air... |
right on the left side of Panama's goal, would the US player have been better off putting that on the ground despite the defender not far behind, or should that always get taken in the air despite it seeming like a lower percentage shot? Also curious why the home team is listed first. I'm sure both of those questions are dumb, sorry. |
