Are you saying Temple has a better football program than Pitt, or that there's a chance Temple could beat Pitt if the played in 2015? Pitt has a seven game winning streak against Temple and is vastly superior in every way historically, even including the recent turbulant state of the program.
|5 hours 23 min ago||Yep.||
Most Pitt fans believe everyone was waiting for the Paterno influence to wane* before the series could start up again, which obviously happened. They announced the series about a year after his death.
*Not taking a position on what I think, I really don't know.

James Franklin (albeit last July):
Pitt and Penn State have a rivalry dating back to 1894 (PSU leads by eight games, 50-42-4). They absolutely should play, and I think the OP is displaying the same type of little brother inferiority complex he's ascribing to Narduzzi.

love me some Jennifer Connelly, probably as much or more as anyone, but there's no way I would be able to watch that scene and think about sex. That was some seriously fucked up stuff all around by the end of the movie.

I vote Requiem for a Dream or The Deer Hunter. Fun, family oriented entertainment the kids will surely enjoy (but don't call them Shirly).

During the season we got a couple volunteers to maintain the map, so if you know of something new or that a bar close or whatever you can leave a comment there and it should be updated (at some point).

It's really just redoing the regional/super-regional but in Oklahoma City. They're in a four team pod with Oregon, Alabama, and UCLA.
Teams come in based on original seeds (although that doesn't matter this year because every one seed advanced) and play a double elimination bracket, with the final two teams playing a best of three series. Here's a picture of the bracket if that helps:
Michigan will play Alabama in game 3 Thursday evening, then either the winner of UCLA/Oregon Friday night (with a win) in game 6 or the loser in game 8, which is an elimination game Saturday afternoon.

I'll be drinking a pilsner at a hockey game later (although probably not a Canadian one...the beer that is).

I love how whoever is behind Hutch (Brundage?) is just casually looking at a shelf while Hutch takes BP indoors with a giant candy filled baseball.
Also I think it's safe to say Hutch Knocks The Fuck® out of a piñata better than any other WCWS coach.

I agree 100% with your first point, but I don't think the second holds up. Football tickets go for (approximately) market value . Assuming demand for football tickets is driven by wanting to see live football and not making a donation to the non-revenue sports, the result is irrelevant to the decision to purchase the ticket.
For one ridiculous example, if(/when) Harbaugh wins the next ten national titles and demand hits a point where M can afford to give him a 747, no one is being forced to fund a 747, they're just paying market value to see an absolutely ridiculous spectacle.

Well let me just quote the late, great Colonel Sanders, who said, "I'm too drunk to taste this chicken."
In all seriousness, I don't think I would want my ashes scattered, but I definitely don't want them in an urn somewhere or to be buried. There's a kit that turns your ashes into a tree, I'll probably go with something like that.

Canada and the US look really good when they're playing anyone else (I do watch when they play each other, it's a cool rivalry).
Granted, the rest of the world basically puts pylons out there for them to play against, but it's kind of like watching option football in slow motion; you can almost point to the next move and there's something really cool about that.

I was in Ann Arbor for about five hours last week and took a pic of the Owens plaque in case it ends up in storage or something. I don't think there's been any comment on where it's headed after Ferry Field is gone.
|3 days 5 hours ago||I'd slightly disagree that||
I'd slightly disagree that the athletes are the most important variable. If we were talking about their safety or gaining/losing a competitive advantage, of course they're the most important, but both companies make equipment that allows them to safely compete at a high level. In other words, the difference is marginal enough that it shouldn't be the biggest factor.
None of this exists in a vacuum, and Hackett needs to do what's best for all of the stakeholders. For example, for all of those saying that taking less money is a big deal, would you be willing to pay a ticket surcharge to get Nike?
|3 days 8 hours ago||You're probably right that||
You're probably right that they don't need to, in the sense that the lights will still be on and Harbaugh's paychecks aren't going to bounce if they leave money on the table. Still, they spent something like twelve million to get rid of the last staff and Brandon and bring in Harbaugh, the debt service alone hit $15mm last year, and they cut student ticket prices.
Michigan brings in a ton of dough, but on the tail end of a $750mm(!) spending campaign, the cash needs to come from somewhere, and I'm definitely in favor of getting it from Adidas as opposed to more expensive tickets, new ads, six dollar water, ect.

Also this doesn't really have much to do with coaching, but UCLA assistant coach Lisa Fernandez is the UCLA softball equivilant of having Tom Brady as an assistant football coach in Ann Arbor.
She's won everything imaginable as a pitcher, three gold medals and is in the hall of fame. To drive the point home I was at a regional UCLA was in a few years back and girls on the other three teams were asking for autographs. Pretty cool woman from what I could tell.

Mike Candrea (Arizona) and Hutch have very similar win totals, although he got the nod for the last Olympic team and has pretty extensive national team experience as well.
UCLA's current coach hasn't won a title or been there very long, but UCLA in general is Wooden-era basketball on a diamond. Their program has won eleven of the thirty-three national championships.

I'm pretty sure it will be Wagner, but I could definitely get behind starting Betsa. If there really have been nerve issues, that's a strong statement that Hutch believes in them getting it right the first time. Even if things went poorly, I don't doubt that Wagner can go out and win later.
First world problems.
