Don't post a thread because you're "too lazy to look it up". If anything it usually takes longer to post a thread than it does to search for an answer to a simple question.

I (and the referees) agree he turned enough to give him a boarding penalty instead of hitting from behind, but NCAA rules say the onus is on Calderone to not make the hit regardless of whether the Wisconsin player was turning into it or not.

Two periods still left to play. Stay out of the box and get some offensive juju back and this is still winnable.
2/3 of their goals were on the power play and they're down an experienced defenseman. M can do this.
|1 day 15 hours ago||Calderone needs to avoid the||
Calderone needs to avoid the hit (and is reminded to in the plainest possible language in the rulebook), I didn't see that as 50/50 or anything other than a reckless hit that warranted a major, although I do agree with calling it boarding and avoiding a mandatory game misconduct/disqualification by calling it hitting from behind. Awful decision that has already cost M one.
Hopefully the PK can hold up early in the second.

If you don't think twice before making Tom Brady balls jokes, you're gonna have a bad time.
|1 day 18 hours ago||It's pretty simple, really.||
It's pretty simple, really. The demographics in elite hockey skew towards very well off, educated families, especially outside of Michigan, Minnesota and Massachusetts (although it's generally the case in those places as well). An awful lot of elite youth hockey players come from an upper middle class background where tutors and SAT coaches and parents who have been through the education system are common, not to mention all of the other demographic predictors on their side.
There are AAA clubs where it can run $15,000 per year for a U14 or U16 team, and some teams/places it can get significantly more expensive than that. Those dues aren't even factoring in equipment or time commitment from the parents, and most players are playing in spring leagues, going to summer camps and getting at least semi-private coaching in the offseason.
This definitely isn't every elite hockey player, but it's the same reason any sport that costs a lot of money to play will generally be successful at top notch schools.
|1 day 19 hours ago||The United Center is already||
The United Center is already significantly farther away and harder to get to from Evanston than Allstate is, and the Sears Centre (while even farther away) is probably a much better fit for Northwestern than a 20k+ seat NHL stadium.
As for using their practice facility, I'd bet a lot that the current facility the Blackhawks use (The Edge in Bensenville) has more seating than this new one will. They'll use the new rink to host youth leagues and maybe some Blackhawks Alumni Association backed tournaments and showcases; it won't be a place to play high level games.

I don't know if Beilein changes into strictly indoor shoes before games, but he definitely gets out on the court in dress shoes.
Hell, Izzo trys to make himself part of the actual play when the going gets tough.

Cincinnati does, at least once you're at a certain point on the faculty/staff pay scale.

That's actually the movie, not the series. I haven't seen the series but I really liked the book and the movie was good as well.

There was a very cool little documentary on Netflix about Masdar City, Abu Dhabi, which uses a lot of the latest in renewable energy technology. At least some there are trying to parlay their experience in oil into more futuristic sources of energy.

the resident MGoSommelier or oenophile, but it's not so much nicer as just different types of wine/grapes. I gifted a 2009 cabernet and have had the 2012 and 2013 sauvignon blancs; I'm waiting for feedback on the cabernet but the sauvignon blanc is definitely the best California sauvignon blanc I've had (although I almost always buy from New Zealand so maybe that's not as worthwhile as I make it sound).
One beautiful pair of bottles on my grandma's table circa Christmas 2013.
|4 days 15 hours ago||A couple bottles of the||
A couple bottles of the cabernet will set you back ($112/bottle) but the sauvignon blanc is very good and obviously more wallet friendly ($20/bottle).
|4 days 18 hours ago||It definitely seems like she||
It definitely seems like she has the pedigree, I just see an awful lot of innings already accounted for if all three returning pitchers are healthy.
Then again you could be right sooner rather than later, I doubt even Hutch has a clear cut picture at this point. The good news is that Blanco and Driesenga can both hit, so even if Driesenga gets pushed out of a starting spot or Blanco can't break into one yet they should be able to contribute on a (most likely) truly elite offense.
|4 days 19 hours ago||Very good but not quite elite||
Very good but not quite elite would be my guess at this point. Wagner is a senior and two time second team all-American, Driesenga was hurt for a lot of last year but is also a two time first team all-Big Ten pitcher and senior, and then Betsa is a sophomore who finished in the top ten for national freshman of the year and was second team all-Big Ten last season. Tera Blanco is a very highly touted freshman, but I doubt she plays very much this year.
I don't think the pitching will lose Michigan games, but there most likely won't be a Jackie Traina or Keilani Ricketts type that's going to single-handedly dominate everyone.

I'll definitely be listening soon. MOTM 3 is what I've been waiting for, and Cudi tweeting about it all day today doesn't help with that.

|4 days 23 hours ago||Wittchow extending his arms||
Wittchow extending his arms upwards was a much bigger deal IMO. If he had lowered his shoulder into Bristedt's chest as he released the puck he would (probably) have laid him out and not drawn a penalty.
He probably would have still been tackled by a flying gopher after the whistle but that's another story.

If you have about $170m just sitting there burning a hole in your pocket, you could make it happen!
Neither has an arena for division one. Illinois would definitely need to build one, and I'm assuming Northwestern doesn't want to do a DePaul basketball impression and play at Allstate (DePaul averaged 1,900 fans last season). IMO Nebraska is by far the most likely to move up, everyone else needs a Terry Pegula type donor.

Six members allows an autobid from the NCAA but there wasn't any obligation to set up the BTHC, the hockey school AD's voted unanimously to found it.

|5 days 13 hours ago||My own take on "deserved or not"||
The major was mandatory and the game disqualification was the right call to make (over the less severe game misconduct). Wittchow sold out to make the hit, which should be clear if you watch him lose control of his body after hitting Bristedt. On top of that he put his arms up and this was late into an already decided game, making an attempt to injure intrepretation much more believable, which is one of the given reasons for an additional game suspension. He got what he deserved, IMO.
For anyone curious, here's the whole NCAA rule and interpretation.

I would definitely support giving the OT winner one point, so a 14-14 game that went into 3OT would end 15-14 instead of 36-28 or whatever.
|5 days 16 hours ago||Isn't that incorrect by||
Isn't that incorrect by definition, at least in sports with real professional options?
For example, if you're a fan of hockey (and not just Michigan hockey) I don't know how you can say that Penn State vs. Michigan State is a superior product to Penguins vs. Red Wings.
