- You might as well relate the gist of some paywalled content. It'll come out anyway.
- Do not C&P. Rephrase.
- Don't relate every last detail. Leave the paywalled content some value. In this case, "it looks good for Dee Hart and we should be getting good news relatively soon" would probably work.
- If you do so, provide a link. Don't just say "Site X says." The link will draw some traffic, may spur conversions, and will help the site with search engine rankings

But if this was something that got started in, say, the 1980's it makes more sense than today, either because of tuition inflation not being what it is or because the surplus was presumably exponentially smaller.
|1 day 14 hours ago||When was the first||
When was the first sustainable surplus to donate back into the general fund? It might not make sense when the AD is kicking back eight figures, but perhaps it did when the surplus wasn't an expected thing and OOS tuition approximately equaled the amount of the surplus.
Also if we're talking much further back than 10-15 years or so, that could have just been an "might as well do it as a gesture" thing before tuition started to really spiral.

Hopefully you at least had a better night than Malkin (or Abdelkader obviously, on a less WTF note).

It also can't measure the deleted comments or caved users from the open threads. By the end of the season that probably made a noticeable difference in the numbers.

but when is the last Michigan roster that was truly more talented than its OSU counterpart? The loaded 1997 team had 24 players drafted between 1998-2002, OSU had 27 drafted in those same years (31 Michigan players went on to play in the NFL, but I couldn't easily find the same stat for OSU).
They've had 65 more drafted players since the inception of the NFL draft and the state is a high school powerhouse while Michigan is...not. If Michigan is going to beat OSU it will almost always have to overcome a talent advantage, and it has been that way for a very long time.
Edit: Don't mean to go down a road of despair or anything (and this isn't even a very good metric) but going by total draft picks we're further below OSU (-65) than we are above MSU (+44). Again, not the best metric, but there is a real talent disparity at play over many decades and this is one data point to look at.

Pretty sure we beat Duty, Honor, Courage, Commitment, Integrity, Country and Service, not America.

I got you.

We need to get a link up in the OP, stat.
|2 days 15 hours ago||I would put serious money on||
I would put serious money on Hoke either a) signing an extension or b) being shown the door after next year. In practical terms I think that means he signs an extension.
Generally you won't see coaches with less than two years on any given contract for recruiting purposes.
|2 days 15 hours ago||I personally am not 'that' down about it.||
Right now the Wings are on arguably the best run in the Big Four, but I think a lot of fans are starting to feel the luster fading a bit. Lidstrom retiring, Datsyuk being on his last contract in this hemisphere, seeing other franchises rising up (like Chicago and Pittsburgh), missing out on the free agents that were climbing over each other to come just a few short years ago all take a bit of a toll. At some point they're going to need to actually rebuild and it'd be great to win one before that time comes.
|2 days 15 hours ago||It's not you.||
Pretty much my circle of hockey fan friends are all guys who I played with growing up, the majority of which are Hawks fans (duh). Seeing a former linemate or goalie talking about beating Detroit is one thing, they were there when Roenick was there and when Chelios wore the C and when Bill Writz died; they wore the shirts and bought the gear all through the 1990's-aughts. I don't begrudge them that one bit. OTOH seeing girls I went to high school with that had never seen the inside of a rink before 2008 who invariably want a baby with either Kane or Toews, wearing "Detroit sucks" shirts, talking about their lifetime fandom and how it must suck to root for the Wings is incredibly annoying.
I'm sure it happens everywhere, and had I grown up in Michigan I'm sure I would know more shitty bandwagon Detroit fans, but there definitely is a large and exasperating bandwagon in Chicago right now.

[PGB's REAL NAME HERE]

as well as any e-friend, it's my strong suspicion that he only wants to use PGB when reprising his role as moderator (and for the negbangs he loves so much). There's a bit of a disconnect between the PGB persona and the man behind the keyboard; CooperLily21 fits much better, if that makes any sense.
|3 days 15 hours ago||I'm no expert either, but||
I'm no expert either, but looking at that video and checking it out online, the mats are insulating fiberglass, and the boards don't have to come out from a seating standpoint (and you obviously know how easy switching out plexiglass is). If it's just a matter of having the ice between the fiberglass and the refridgeration unit I would think the internal atmosphere wouldn't matter so much.
This is total and complete speculation on my part though, I don't claim to know that any of the above is 100% true.
|3 days 15 hours ago||+1 for beating me to the punch.||
|3 days 15 hours ago||You don't melt the ice.||
You remove the boards and put rubber (looks like rubber at least) mats over the ice surface and build the basketball floor on top.
It's still a lot of work, but you wouldn't need to build the ice from scratch after the game (which is a substantial amount of work, for those who don't know).

But the man can coach; you don't stumble into five national championships. I'm with Brian in feeling that "Ding, Dong" was a perfect title to seeing him ousted from the bench in Columbus.

You would be better served looking to engage in some friendly back and forth about the bowl game in the comments before making the jump to long posts about M's football program in broad strokes.
We have respected members from OSU, MSU (RIP WatersDemos :/ ) and ND. I'm sure a KSU fan looking to talk about the bowl game matchup would be well received if you know what you're talking about and are a reasonable person.
