...says Denzel Valentine of Big Ten Tourney favorite MSU, which is 5-7 in its last 12 games. Cumong, man.

|4 days 17 min ago||It's raining here in Florida.||
Wipers on the first setting and people driving 10-15 under, other than that I got nothing that compares.
|1 week 4 days ago||Jalen graduated from Maryland in 2005.||
Juwan graduated on time from Michigan while in the NBA.
|1 week 6 days ago||Number three hockey city?||
Or not Hockeytown? One could be logical, the other is just blasphemy.
|1 week 6 days ago||How does any of it make sense?||
It's an ignorant and racist statement, I can't think of any of those that make sense.
|1 week 6 days ago||Three bar.||
I've already recruited Wolf "The Dentist" Stanson to join my team. Good luck, everyone else.
|2 weeks 4 days ago||There's an old school||
There's an old school (pre-Red) hockey player that has a handle you'd recognize.
|2 weeks 4 days ago||This is the answer in a practical sense.||
I know it's almost all Brian that actually posts there, but it's an option when I make a thread or diary or whatever so the non real world technical answer is get mod powers.
|2 weeks 4 days ago||Don't think you can unionize...||
when you're wanted dead or alive by a South American nation, but I'll have to look into that.
Also Brian's hiring and onboarding process > every single HR process ever.

who considers himself an avid collector of OMG Shirtless autographs, this is an incredible opportunity. Your inbox will surely be flooded but that's the price of spreading the love I guess.
|2 weeks 6 days ago||It can be tough to do sometimes...||
but following the threading of messages always works. You posted a reply to Space Coyote's long post above.
|2 weeks 6 days ago||Question for a buddy, guy or friend.||
Is it surprising that <2% of Canada's citizens are registered with Hockey Canada as players or is the majority of non-youth hockey not sanctioned (which is the case in the US)? I can't believe that so few Canadians are currently playing even if you factor in gender.
|3 weeks 1 day ago||Again, good for who?||
I agree, I wish that particular phrase wasn't in the OP.
|3 weeks 1 day ago||My own biases aren't an issue (I hope!?).||
I've tried extremely hard to take pretty much all emotion out of MGoBoard, and I don't think I've given anyone a reason to believe otherwise. I thought I answered satisfactorially above, in that that's not how I read the OP originally. Joe Schmoe keeping 90% of his pension is good news for Joe Schmoe and his family, I don't feel like that's a political statement (take that logically as far as you want, I still think it's true). If someone suggests it's the good or right thing for Detroit I'm with you on the political element.
I didn't take any kind of mod action against the post I said was an example of what not to do and didn't against the OP, which very well might have been the political statement you think it is.
|3 weeks 1 day ago||I said recently that I'm not||
I said recently that I'm not sure you and I agree on pretty much anything but this post, especially the final paragraph, is gold. +1.
|3 weeks 1 day ago||"Hi this is Mike Babcock" is||
"Hi this is Mike Babcock" is a pretty decent recruiting pitch all on its own, and I don't think he needs any lessons in x's and o's.
|3 weeks 1 day ago||Your last paragraph describes||
Your last paragraph describes anything that's entertaining to mass groups of people. Music is probably the best example but there are plenty of others.
The first I don't agree with because teamwork isn't the only valuable life lesson to take away from sports. Devin getting up off the turf for the sake of his team is one thing to admire in sports, but the boxer getting up off the canvas for his own sake is too. They're different mindsets, but both are admirable in their own way.
|3 weeks 1 day ago||Weird.||
I'm always confused when people talk about sports that "matter". What sport matters in a substantive way? To pose it in the direction of this coach, what does your sport bring to the world that football doesn't?
|3 weeks 1 day ago||Nice present to turn the game on to.||
Nicely done, boys.
|3 weeks 1 day ago||I haven't edited anything.||
Reading the OP for the first time I thought he was trying to say something else "city [workers]" which I wouldn't say is political. If it was a value judgement and trying to say "people of Detroit" than I would say it's another example of what not to do.
|3 weeks 1 day ago||This post is a good example||
This post is a good example of what not to do to avoid turning the thread into a political flamewar.
Avoid value judgements that more or less fall on political lines when posting.
|3 weeks 1 day ago||The last few were fine, IIRC.||
As were the new stadium threads despite having this as a backdrop.
Assuming most people can post like adults we'll just shun the others.
|3 weeks 4 days ago||Who knows.||
It wouldn't be the first or last time an athlete was delusional about their abilities and limitations.
Somehow switched up "turn" and "them". Ugh.
|3 weeks 5 days ago||Yes.||
I mentioned Ali v. Holmes above and think it's a good comparison. Obviously incapable athlete being strung along by people looking to make a quick buck playing off of name/gender without a lot of regard for the consequences.
Specifically if it was Tom Cruise or another slight of stature gazillionaire I wouldn't feel that bad because the power dynamics are greatly skewed in his favor with the IFL. If this was Tom Cruise's great-grand nephew with pro football dreams who happened to look exactly like him I'd feel the same way as I do about this woman.
|3 weeks 5 days ago||Ugh.||
List of BCS conference teams with endowed coaching positions:
Actively seeking someone to endow the position:
As stated above, pretty much every Ivy League football job is endowed (and the lone holdout is Brown after removing Joe Paterno from the title) and so are many of their coaches in other sports.
The over/under for this getting mentioned on a broadcast after 2014 is in the range of one time per year.
|3 weeks 5 days ago||Maybe with their newfound||
Maybe with their newfound publicity they could get Slash to play at halftime.
|3 weeks 5 days ago||Besides publicity, there is||
That's why this is cringe worthy. This lady took an opportunity pretty much everyone in her position would take (I don't think anyone trying out for a team would them turn down if picked) but it was offered by people with ulterior motives and it's her bones/head/tendons that are going to pay the price for a couple cheap headlines and party pack ticket sales or whatever.
This is sort of like Ali being "medically cleared" to fight Larry Holmes.
|3 weeks 5 days ago||This, so much this.||
In addition to making both Michigan and Penn State look bad, playing a full on contested game when you don't need to is stupid to the nth degree.
I'm not advocating pee-wee "make three passes and only defenseman can shoot" pretty much ever, but going up and playing dump and chase and cycling through lines is the way to get through the game with the smallest opportunity for bad outcomes, both in terms of injury/fatigue and allowing the team that's down an opportunity to break up a play in transition for an odd-man break. This is all assuming we can get into a position where we're up 5-0 or 6-1 early enough for it to matter, of course.
|3 weeks 5 days ago||Honestly...||
I don't see the difference between this, the Donald R Shepherd Director of Athletics, the Stephen M Ross School of Business, or the endowed titles I posted above for the Deans at Ford and Ross.
|3 weeks 5 days ago||Obvious disclaimer that you saw it and I didn't.||
But in the NCAA it doesn't matter if his head is down or not, the onus is on the player delivering the check to avoid the head as a principle point of contact. Pretty much all of the Kronwall'd hits would be suspension worthy using the NCAA rulebook, for instance.
