- Keep the legends jerseys, hand them out to freshman that want them (if they need to write a paper or whatever that's cool too) and if a number becomes available I don't have a problem with an upperclassmen asking to switch either.
- No helmet stickers. Sorry, Bo.
- No more home alternates. I'm fine with the away jersey being changed around and I'd prefer more white and less piping.
- I absolutely don't get the QB 98 hate. It wouldn't work for everyone, actually Gardner is probably the only recent QB who "fits", but he looked awesome in 98. If he won 20-21 games and made that two point conversion in 2013 I don't think anyone would be complaining.

John Cooper. Paul Brown (tie). Harry Kipke. Paul Bixler. Wes Fesler.
There are eight of twenty-one without first year wins since Kipke/Schmitd were on the sidelines, assuming Fickell counts.

|2 hours 7 min ago||But emotional ties to college||
But emotional ties to college are just as personal as "winning at the highest level" and anything in the NFL's favor. The only two nearly objective factors are job description and salary, and in a situation where M is looking to write a big enough check those two are a wash (assuming he would get a lot of personnel control in an NFL deal). There's not a way to quantify "coaching Tom Brady" vs "office in Schembechler Hall" or any of the other choices a coach with offers from both would need to consider.
If all we're talking about is why there's a perception that NFL is a step up then I agree with what you're saying in this comment, but that's not what was being argued everywhere in the thread.
|10 hours 23 min ago||My point is that with equal||
My point is that with equal job titles and equal pay, there's nothing objectively better about being an NFL coach than there is being a college coach. I definitely understand the widespread perception that one job is superior to another, but without knowing how Harbaugh thinks that's not really relevant.
To put it another way, I'd be living a completely different life than Warren Buffet if I had his resume and bank account, but good luck explaining how a Manhattan penthouse and an island in the Caribbean are objectively superior to his place in Omaha if that's what he enjoys.
|10 hours 58 min ago||I don't think it's obvious at||
I don't think it's obvious at all. He'll have, for all intents and purposes, the same job description (assuming the rumors about him wanting more front office control are true) in either place next year and it looks like Michigan has offered him more money than an NFL franchise will.
Anything beyond that is 100% personal preference and there are arguments to be made either way, none of which make a difference unless we know what Harbaugh thinks.

Hutch is the softball coach, are you thinking of Mary Sue Coleman?

When this thread ends up coming around age is probably important to note too. I can't remember any Bo/Moeller games and grew up with Carr on the sidelines.

I upvoted you, not because I agree (I don't) but that would be a pretty cool thread, especially if we could see which way the board leans. Plenty of talk about it in the past, most recently in this thread.

I don't see them around the holidays but my best friend is a Buckeye married to another one and it seems like they're just sitting around waiting for another Ten Year War and value the rivalry enough to want Harbaugh here.
Then again she can reasonably discuss Tressel and the Tat 5 so definitely not the norm (she was a tutor in their AD at the time) at least from what I've experienced.

Not University of Michigan, but plenty of ties to the state regardless.

No, but I had a great time there last week. One of my uncles lives/works there and he hosted family Christmas was this year. We hit Founders one night and Hopcat and Stella's another, so it was a pretty solid long weekend.

I'll be using a giftcard to grab a number four jersey assuming everything goes well. If not, maybe trade an MDen giftcard for scotch and/or Draino.
Not M themed but got a very nice (and overpriced, IMO) Red Wings shirt that I'm really excited about.

I was at Founders for the first time last week and they tapped a keg of Canadian Bacon Breakfast Stout. It was magical, and I'm not a big stout guy.
Right now its mimosas and crab dip, going to make the stuffing/bacon balls (from the front page) with cider later and then probably pour some whisky to finish off the night.
|1 day 13 hours ago||I agree that there's no way||
I agree that there's no way Harbaugh is this valuable but the football team has direct revenues of $82m and the sponsorships and whatnot push it close to $100m in annual revenue. With yearly revenue that high the football team has to be quite a bit more valuable than that, right?
I do think someone could back up a case that he's worth $100-150m over five or six years, though.

I agree money should be the deciding factor between Adidas and Nike but I'd definitely want the AD to do some due diligance on UA's shoes and make sure they could provide competitive equiptment in sports like hockey where their size disadvantage really shows.

If it's not Harbaugh, I'm going to go crazy and I'm going to start attacking people. If it is Harbaugh, in all honesty I might just burn this whole place down out of happiness. Either way I'm going to need some talking down.
|4 days 44 min ago||I've had two bottles of his||
I've had two bottles of his Sauvignon Blanc (2012, 2013) and gifted the Cabernet Sauvignon (2009) to my best friend over the summer, but he hasn't opened it up yet. The Sauvignon Blanc is the best I've had from California, although I don't pretend to be a wine expert and I almost always go for a Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand anyway, and generally prefer Chilean before buying from California.
I know you're in/close to Ann Arbor, they have the Sauvignon Blanc at Plum Market for twenty bucks (the Cabernet retails at $112 but I supposedly got the last bottle in Ann Arbor in March for $99). Definitely worth a try, it was great with shallots and also just with cheese, olives and bread another night.
On a related note @TwentyFourWines is a good follow on Twitter, some behind the scenes pictures with Charles Woodson that are definitely cool to see and then obviously info about what the vineyard itself has going on.

He knows his stuff, better than the vast majority here (or any other fan-centric sites I've been to).
I don't know if you've been around longer than you've been a poster, but SpaceCoyote has a wide knowledge base about coaching in general and isn't some Sparty obsessed internet tough guy. For example he's been featured by a Wisconsin blog talking about their schemes and he's written for this site's magazine as well as a bunch of other things I'm probably forgetting at one in the morning.

|4 days 2 hours ago||Re: Nuss, I'm fine with whatever the new coach decides.||
Realistically we'll be retaining an assistant or two, Nussmeier has a great resume and will likely be a head coach soon, and it's great to see guys on staff finding a big promotion like that (also down the road maybe he proves himself and would be interested in coming back once Harbaugh retires, fingers crossed).
OTOH I watched the offense and the QB's last year just like everybody else and won't be up in arms if the new coach wants someone else.

The simplest thing to do is to drag it into the comment box from a site hosting it. I wrote a sticky a while back that should help with any questions about formatting and posting pictures and gifs and whatnot.
|4 days 6 hours ago||Softball is going to be||
Softball is going to be really, really good and doesn't have a coach that's a) just a vacancy b) having a down year despite resurrecting a program or c) a living legend who has probably stayed on past his prime like we've got with the revenue sports.
