See also: Florida State and their dealings with the Seminole tribe. That certainly seems like a great relationship for both sides, although I don't know if it was always reciprocal.
I don't think there should be any kind of blanket ban on tribal names as mascots, but at the very least I think it's reasonable to say it's in bad taste to use someone else's name and imagry when they don't want you to.

It was that way when I was in high school a decade ago, at least for HeatGear/ColdGear. I don't know if they made shoes back then, but if they did nobody wore them.
I haven't bought a tee shirt from any of the three in a long time, but I'd guess fan gear will be higher quality with UA than with Nike or Adidas.

Looking at the law in ND, I highly doubt they were able to charge anything for an electronic document like this.

I always skip Ignition (Remix) if it comes on and it's not a Friday or Saturday. Some people I know feel that I should be embarrassed by this, but honestly I think it's more embarrassing to be jamming out about the weekend on a Monday lunch break or whatever.

If they're not the blondes referenced, then I'm completely lost (which is definitely possible given the subject matter).

I've only ever seen pictures, but that doesn't seem like a great description of either Nordigen or Vonn.

That makes it seem like he's either committed to the move or there wasn't much interest in signing him as a QB, assuming he had several offers in UFA.
|2 days 12 hours ago||They're doing something right.||
I read an HBO executive saying they could hit $400mm in PPV revenue. They don't have the same opportunities for commercials that team sports do, and according to Forbes, the combined ads for the 2012 Super Bowl were "only" ~$245mm (whenever Forbes did their list that was the highest grossing).

I don't follow the NFL very much, apologies if it's obvious, but Gardner had said a few teams talked to him about playing QB. Is he going to be working out as a receiver all the time with the Patroits, or is there a chance they'll try to develop him as a QB, even part time?
|2 days 12 hours ago||Pretend Gardner and Ryan don't exist?||
Just tear down the banners at Crisler, wipe 3/4 of Denard's stats, take away the Sugar Bowl rings, the WCWS appearance, who knows how many varsity letterman played exclusively during Brandon's tenure should give back their jackets and rings?
I'm pretty sure I'd rather not cancel all that, but that's just me.
|2 days 15 hours ago||I also think the comment||
I also think the comment you're replying to overestimates how many people are going to value some fraction of $100 more than getting a (relatively) hassle free experience. It's not exactly the same thing but looking at the music industry it seems like paying for content is here to stay, massive price correction nonwithstanding.
I'm headed out to watch the fight tonight. I hadn't really planned on watching, but friends are going, prices are reasonable and the beer and wings are awesome.

I'm all for anything that helps the team win (exploiting that money advantage is vital), but I don't know if the football analogy works.
Basketball has 15 guys on roster, football 115. I don't know how well it translates on the administrative side, but basketball has a coach for every 3.75 players, football the numbers are one for every 10.5. Like someone said above, football sends out 100+ offers, with basketball usually around 10% of that and some years less.

Their Northwestern redisign was really well done, and I don't think they've made any changes at Auburn.
|3 days 14 hours ago||Interesting note, looks like||
Interesting note, looks like Boston College is wearing mostly Bauer (Nike) hockey gear, while Notre Dame is apparently mostly CCM (Adidas). I wonder which direction Michigan would go.
Assuming UA can offer all of the equipment the 25 non-football/basketball sports need, this is the best option, IMO.

Don't be an idiot. Changed my life. Whenever I'm about to do something, I ask myself, "Would an idiot do that?" If they would, I do not do that thing.

K-I-S-S keep it simple stupid. Great advice, hurts my feelings every time.

It's the celebrity part too. Of all the women you find sexy, how many are near-houshold name actresses, models or singers? Now extrapolate that over a few billion women and the whole thing just feels ridiculous.
The only reason the list is called "Sexiest Women Alive" is that "100 Half Naked Women You've Probably Heard Of" wouldn't get FHM any free attention.
|4 days 16 hours ago||I believe it.||
Narrowing down the percentages to 2.85714286*10^-8 from 2.85714287*10-8 to get an objective list has got to be exhausting.

It really is incredible that they're able to research each of the globe's 3,500,000,000 women annually. Odd coincidence these lists end up being mostly western celebrities every year.

Seeing some of the extra footage from that, it's lucky they ever got a usable take of "a whale's vagina". Between Will Ferrell and Christina Applegate they showed about ten takes where one or the other couldn't keep it together, and I'm sure there were a ton more.

Two very high profile examples in the sports world would be OJ and Aaron Hernandez. Press were camped out in front of their houses before they were even arrested, let alone arraigned.
MGoBlog recently ran a front page story on Frank Clark's arrest before he ever saw the inside of a court room.

As it should be for the justice system, but if his defense is that it was consensual, I don't think it's improper to socially shun someone for getting into a sexual situation where the power dynamics are so skewed.
Obviously we're not even at that point, but "beyond a reasonable doubt" isn't a very realistic or even ideal standard for non-violent censure.

They're worse than regular campaign ads, and that's saying something.
The local candidate ones where the budget is clearly about fifty bucks are sometimes not so terrible.

Compared to the rest of hockey, the NHL is the most permissive with allowing contact to the head. I'd bet anything they go further in the near future towards protecting players in a vulnerable position (height, second contact, and, yeah, stupidity).
|6 days 13 hours ago||I like that Kronwall does||
I like that Kronwall does what he does; he plays a role and most of the time his hits fall within the letter of the rule, but I don't think think I'd describe, say, the Voracek hit as "fine and clean". It was a legal hit, but I don't know if I'd go as far as clean.
Also, no two hits are ever alike. In this thread alone there are plenty of posters that have gotten hit with pucks countless times, but one freak occurrence stopped Chris Pronger's heart.
