I went to see what who said what. One jackass said he was getting paid. Come on dude. That's really happening. I'd be pissed and appalled if I was Damien as well.
One thing I did see is a ton of Michigan players supporting him. That can only help down the line if they keep in good contact with him. Playing football is a brotherhood. If he has 10-15 very good friends on the team, that will only help him with his decision.
|47 weeks 2 days ago||My bad.||
I knew he was from Lansing. But I thought it was east Lansing. Should have looked it up.
Thought of another Cornell wreslter from Michigan. Cam Simaz. 4x AA, 1x NCAA champ.
Roger Kish went to Minnesota was from Lapeer, Michigan. Another multi AA and got 2nd twice.
Michigan is a very good wrestling state. But New York then Ohio top out AA's at the NCAA every year.

I'm not up on this stat, but I bet there are several kids that commit during their Junior year, only to decommit and go elsewhere. That's a long time to wait for signing day. I think if he truly is a Michigan fan, and UM plays well next year, to include showing off our RB's and WR's, we could certainly get both Campbell and Harris back. They committed once because they loved it. Lets show them the love is still there along with results! Stay positive. Hoke, Nuss, and crew can make it happen. Work, work, work. Lift, lift, lift. And above all play nasty!

Dutton has been the person who has put the team from good to on the edge of greatness. He transferred here two years ago but was hurt all year and the start of this year. He is good enough to be an AA. He will help immensely if he stays healthy.
|48 weeks 23 hours ago||The real reason Tressel is a bad hire||
We all hate the sweater vest but if he was good at his job, I'd have no problem with it. When he was HC for OSU, their defense was superior and won them games. His offense was always mediocre at best. He is a run, run, short pass kind of guy. That doesn't really work in the NFL unless you're San Fran, Seattle, Baltimore. Detroit is not that type of offense and its personnel don't fit that offense. If he's hired and tries that, expect doom.
|49 weeks 21 hours ago||Defense wins Championships||
I think both need to take a major step forward but the defense is more important IMO. Teams can skate by by having a poor to average offense. You can't if your defense is poor or average. I know where the D was ranked, and it was above average, but against the good teams, they got thrashed. Ohio with their 250 yards from their TB and QB. Indiana. MSU. KSU.PSU to some extent. All marched up and down the field. Time for everyone to step up.
|1 year 1 day ago||Patience||
I believe a Mr. Dawson briefly left the train only to come back. If Campbell likes Michigan so much to commit a couple years in advance, I'd think Michigan is still the standard and he'll judge those colleges and coaches next to Michigan. Throw in a big win or two next year, he could come home once again. Michigan is still quite in it. His recruiter just needs to step up his game to reaffirm his previous position that Michigan is school for him.

I am one of the few Ohio boys on the board who grew up a Michigan fan and went to school there. My first OSU-Michigan game was the dreaded 13-13 tie. I was miserable. Someone HAS to win this game. Second game, Michigan got hammered.
My last game, Senior year, I saw the big blue beat OSU 13-9. The DB slipped and Tai Streets goes about 80 yards for the TD. Nothing will compare to that game for me. Awesome.
Thank you Tai and Brian Griese for making the ending to my Senior year perfect!

Ughh. Yes I went Ohio being an Ohio boy and couldn't afford Michigan tuition. It was 1997, and my feelings were, I got to listen to this blow hard talk about his Heismans again? Thankfully right when he got up to the podium, it started pouring. They canceled the rest of graduation and I picked up my diploma in a Michigan shirt later in the day. I was wearing a Michigan shirt under my gown in the shoe too. Ticked off my classmates, so it brings back good memories!

Several years ago, circa 2005 or 2006, I was contacted by the Red Cross because my bone marrow was matched with a 14 year old female cancer patient from Minnesota. They asked if I'd think about donating bone marrow for her and I didn't give it a second thought. The Red Cross sent out a nurse who took like 15 vials of blood from me. These were to be reanalyzed to be absolutely sure I was a good candidate. It turned out I was. The procedure the explained is very intense. I was to go to UM Hospital for 2 straight days, it was either 8 or 10 hours per day, with the needle in while they extract the bone marrow. They explained that the procedure is not difficult but extremely taxing on the body and mind. And recovery is more difficult than one would think.
I was a few days away from the procedure when I learned the girl took a turn for the worse and eventually passed. I never got to donate. Still makes me sad to this day.

I agree with the blogger above, the books are better than the TV show. If you like the first book, then grab the others. You won't be disappointed.
|2 years 2 days ago||Dexter Books & Finale||
If you like the show, you'll love the books. Even more so than the tv show. There are some similarities between the two but of course they changed a lot. Like LaGuerta. She dies in book 1 and Doakes is still alive in book 4, although he doesn't have a tongue and is missing limbs from, if I remember correctly, from the ice truck killer. So he mumbles and swears a lot at Dexter. Awesome stuff. And Deb does find out he is a killer in the books too, and doesn't turn him in. I haven't got to books 5 and 6 yet. Tackled all 5 books of George RR Martin over the last year. One other really cool thing about the books is Rita's kids are like Dexter. So he starts teaching them the code. Dark and creepy, Jeff Lindsay writes some good stuff.
The only thing I didn't like about the finale was how sloppy Deb shooting LaGuerta was. All police guns have ballistics taken before given to an officer. So unless they dug the bullet out, or dropped her in the ocean, police would find out it was Deb's gun. Not to mention the phone call to dispatch and them knowing she's at the marina. I could see Dexter going back into LaGuerta house and buring the search warrant and other stuff. So that's ok. But no blood on the dress as she walks away? Pretty messy ending. I wonder how they'll clean it up in next season's opening show.

Back on the early 2000's, the Findlay Mall had a store like this. Haven't been in the mall in years though to know if it is still running. Was called the Ohio State - Michigan Store. Just like this, split down the middle. They also sold Notre Dame stuff. I don't remember anything MSU related in it.

was not a back-up. He started for 4 years for Denver and was an All-Pro in 2000. Then started for Miami, Tampa, Chicago, and Tampa again. He started and or played in 92 games. Granted, he was never a stud stand-out except for 2000 and 2004 in Tampa Bay, but out of all those before him that we're talking about, he'd be ranked #3 in starts behind Brady and Harbaugh. I think Grbac could have had better totals but he quit too soon. Collins lost his job after what 2-3 seasons, and the others, although started a few games, don't compare.
I don't think he's given enough credit. He was a pretty good quarterback for the skills he was blessed with.

I think it's be cool if we could get someone to do weeklies (or more) when that sport is in season.
I'm a wretling freak and would love more inside coverage. Obviously the Moderators would have to have some real contacts to keep up with the insides of each particular program, which is easier said than done. But one can dream...

From 91-96. I was born and raised Michigan fan. That has never changed. I grew up in NW Ohio and applied to Toledo, Michigan, and Ohio. I was accepted to each but just couldn't afford the out of state tuition. I was so depressed. So I went to the better engineering school, Ohio it was...
I wore my Michigan shirts around campus. I was looked at and maybe swore at behind my back, but no one ever jumped me or anything. My friends could only shake their heads and tell me they hate me because that was back in the day when we were 9-1-1 against Ohio. They had nothing on me. Oh the good ol' days.
What's funny is now I get more crap than ever about going to Ohio. Everywhere I go, Buckeye fans are amazed that I went to Ohio while being a Michigan fan. They all believe just because I went to that school, I should have changed allegences. When I say I hate Ohio and everything it stands for and explain myself, that's when the Buckeye fans really tear into me. 90% of which never attended the school and have no basis to defend it. Oh well. I know I'm right.
I am a proud Michigan fan will never change. Never. Go Blue!

Corey Lester, John Burroughs, MO (multiple state champ. a sleeper)
|3 years 9 weeks ago||Totally agree||
Denard is an exceptional athlete but a good/great QB he is not. IMO, he is actually throwing the ball worse than last year, so he's regressing. He doesn't play well under center. His ball fakes on passes are nonexistent. And as the announcers pointed out 10x yesterday, he doesn't plant his foot when he throws, throwing so high it makes Henne's throws look almost catchable.
Almost all gifted athletes can play QB. But can they make the throws that need to be made to win a championship? Can they read blitzes and coverages that need to be made to win a championship? At this stage and after 20 games as a starter, Denard has proven he can't do the things he needs to do to win a championship. Is it all him? No. But the QB position is the most important position on the field. He will continue on at QB, I have no doubt, but his mistakes will hurt the team and cause a few more losses when he's in a winable games.
For this reason, I think Devin should be our QB. For the type of offense Hoke and Borges want to run, he is the answer. And in 2 years, Morris even more so. Use Denard as a wideout, flanker, RB, but scratch the QB position. He'll never win against the tough teams in the B1G the day he plays now.

I saw on twitter that he supposedly committed to ND on Saturday. still waiting on the official announcement from one of our guys.
|3 years 19 weeks ago||Expansion||
I think that if the Big Ten goes to say 16 teams, they'll push up the conference games to 10. then everyone is pretty much guaranteed 7 home games a year. 5/5 in conference and the other 2 MAC probably. ND would be part of the B10 at that point so everything still works with rivalries and you'd have 5 teams to rotate with within the conference. I like it. Sometime in the future I could see it happening.

to question 1, I don't think anyone knows why. especially after building the best practice facility in the nation. Q2. Kirk Trost and Mike K. (not going to butcher his name) were both fired. Each had been there 5-6 years, in Trost's case like 15 and he was a national champ at hwt. Coach said he thought they were falling behind the the B1G opponents and needed a shake up. Especially in recruiting, which both new guys are supposed to be all star recruiters. So maybe Q2 really answers Q1?

|3 years 28 weeks ago||A NW Ohio guy here||
I was fortunate to play in a state title game. Unfortunately we got beat. The next year we made it to the semis and were beat by the champs.
When you have success, it breeds a ravenous culture where people can't get enough. Our bleachers, home or away, were always filled and all anyone could talk about was football and who we got coming back next year.
Ohio has had a ton of successful schools in the past 50 years. Massillon Washington won a ton of titles. Cleveland St. Ignatius was ranked #1 in USA Today for a few years. Now Cleveland Glenville and Cincinnati St Xavier are playing on National TV. Even smaller schools are racking up titles like St Henry, Delphos St John, and Maria Stein Local and their kids are getting recruited to big colleges.
Then to add a lot of the kids stay in state and go to TSIO, Cincinnati, BGSU, Toledo, Miami, Ohio, etc. the people that live there get to still see the kids they watched in high school become successful in a bigger stage. It's a never ending cycle of success. So they stay passionate all year around.
|3 years 28 weeks ago||I live in Ypsi Township||
Ypsi Township is south of I-94. It's basically all new housing developments circa 2000. You can get a 2000+ ft2 home for $150,000 or less right now. I have a 3 yr old but I've been told by her Daycare provider who's been in the area for 20+ years that Lincoln School District, the school disctrict for those below 94, is pretty good up until high school and then high school is a little lacking. They are currently building a brand new school off Martz Rd. Not sure if it's high school or Middle school but I've been told they want to make it one of the premier schools in the area. Lets hope they do for the kids sake.
You're a 20 minute or less drive from some of the Ann Arbor schools. I believe Ann Arbor schools allow Township Tranfers so you're kid could possibly go their if you wanted to drive him/her their. Ann Arbor schools are ranked 3rd and 4th in the state, so you're not going to beat their teaching skills at Lincoln, Ypsi, Dexter, or Brighton.
As for where I live, some people have gotten things stolen from out of their garage at night because they left up their garage door. Sheriff caught a few. They were high school kids.
I love the area. I'm in the country but a 15 minute ride to the east side of AA where there's movies, shopping, Sams Club, Costco. I've been told that Wal Mart is also looking at building a store near the Krogers, which is 5 minutes away. There is so many new homes and family that the area is expanding and more stores are starting to trickle in. Which is a reason for building the new school. They need more room for the amount of kids in the area.
I'd recommend it. I like my place. Couldn't speak to Dexter or Brighton but I wouldn't want to live in Ypsilanti itself. Small houses, no yards, bad neighborhoods, and college kids. Ypsi Twnshp is much more family oriented.
|3 years 30 weeks ago||Guys||
There are so many great players to wear the maize and gold and I was trying to figure out the best way to answer that question. I looked for the one thing that seperated the best from the best. And I think the Heisman Trphy services this purpose well. These three athletes were voted by their peers of the whole football nation as the best player for that year. That's beyond special.
I won't argue about other names. Yes I agree AC was a better WR than DH, but did he win the biggest trophy of them all? Nope. I think Michigan Stadium could build a wall of honor or hang more trapestries of the football team's storied tradition and honor those stud All-American players since day 1 of the football program. The new wrestling facility has this type of wall.
But to retire a number, that has to be reserved for the best of the best. And I think the Heisman Trophy won by Harmon, Howard, and Woodson makes them a little more special than all the others who have come before them.

I have always been a Michigan fan. Going down there and wearing my Michigan shirts was always a fun experience. They always had a comment. But that was when Michigan owned them...
I digress. Not one friend of mine that is an OSU fan has told me they want Tressel fired/should be fired. They don't care. They're just happy Michigan keeps getting beat and feel like he doing what everyone else is doing, he just got caught.
|3 years 38 weeks ago||I'm the opposite of you, BucksfanXC||
I grew up in Northwest Ohio, been a Michigan Fan my whole life. I went to OSU in the 90's when UM ruled OSU. I even wore a Michigan shirt underneath my gown just to piss off my classmates during graduation. Now I live in Ypsilanti.
I will never praise OSU. Did you even go there? The stuff they did to all opposition at football was deplorable. It didn't matter which college was there, cars were turned over, windows busted, fires started, fights, etc. In bowl games, they cheer for all the teams playing against B1G Ten teams. Fans I grew up with had no loyalty towards our Conference.
As a graduate of that University, I am baffled that the fanbase of that school cares less that your coach lied to the University and the NCAA. It's like OSU fans have a disease and you're so rabid that you have all lost your integrity.
All we have in this world is Integrity. Tressel fails on so many levels. It's not the act of the kids that has made this issue so National, it's the lack of character and integrity Tressel showed towards his players, the University and the NCAA.
I work for one of those government agencies where you can basically get away with anything. Except lie. Doesn't matter how big or small the lie is. You're fire. It's called Lack of Candor.
Tressel lied 3x. And now we find out there was a lie within a lie because he did forward the message. He should be fired. Now.
I'm ashamed to be associated with OSU. And so should every person who ever paid money to that university for a college education.

Bad luck for Biondo. He never got it rolling this year after being ranked in the top 6 at the beginning of te year. He got beat today 2x by higher ranked wrestlers, each by a point. He might get a NCAA bid due to his ranking. It will be interesting to see.
NCAA has 49 open spots that they give out to those people that fail to qualify for the NCAA, bascially because every year, ranked wrestlers don't make it to the big dance. I think Biondo gets a flyer. Lets hope anyway.
If not, Anthony, thanks for your hardwork and dedication to UM! Go Blue!

|3 years 42 weeks ago||Kuhar||
I think we have a good shot at Kuhar. His brother is a R/Jr Hwt. wrestler at Northwestern. Greg himself will probably be a state champ for the mighty St. Ed's this year too at Hwt. If his brother left the state, I'm pretty sure Kuhar would be open to leaving Ohio as well. Just need to show him the love and maybe the new wrestling facilities. It would be cool if he wrestled his brother in college!
|3 years 42 weeks ago||Indiana and Notre Dame||
What could make the Presidents agree to all Big Ten league is the addition Indiana and Notre Dame. When this topic first came out, it was said Indiana was seriously looking at adding hockey as well. And if Notre Dame ever joined, that would make 8 teams. I bet Indiana waits and sees how PSU does the first year and then moves forward if they see it a a profitable situation. And if the Big Ten ever expands to 16 teams, then we'll probably get Notre Dame. Would make one helluva conference. Something I'd like to see.
|3 years 43 weeks ago||Not ripped||
Eric is considered undersized because he's not ripped like a lot of his competition. A few more years in the weight room and he'll be big for 149. He'll get there, but right now, he is a smaller 149 pounder.
|3 years 44 weeks ago||UM loses both matches, 30-7 Iowa and 22-12 Minnesota||
Ugly results for both. But Kellen Russel stays undefeated with two OT wins. Way to go Kellen!
One more dual against MSU then the Big Tens and Nationals.
|3 years 44 weeks ago||Dual Predictions||
I see the Minnesota match as a 5-5 split. Here's hoping for that bonus point so UM wins 16-15.
As for Iowa, we don't stand a chance. Maybe in 2 years. But it will be tough when we haven't got those top 10 recruits coming in on a yearly basis. We need to recruit better to beat Iowa and Penn State. But they are close to being competitive. Just not this year. I say 26-9. Someone will get pinned. But I do wish I'm wrong.
|3 years 44 weeks ago||I was at that match!||
I moved to DC this year from Ypsi and I'm in a serious "live" wrestling withdrawl. I've been to all the home duals over the past 5 years. Thank god for web streaming and the Big 10 Network!
|3 years 44 weeks ago||You have my interest!||
I troll the web and twitter for all the wrestling news I can find. I appreciate all the posts on Michigan Wrestling and wrestling in general!
|3 years 44 weeks ago||Brandon, FL||
I wonder what we'd find out if we compare wrestlers in Div. I that came out of Brandon. I'm sure most of you saw the ESPN show on Brandon. The true powerhouses used to say they were overrated because they wouldn't travel out of state or wrestle the Blairs, St. Edwards, and Apple Valleys of the world. They also said that Florida wrestling was below par with the rest of the nation.
Other than Gomez being a National Champ, I don't know anyone else whose had that type of success from Brandon. But it should be noted that there guys do go to Fargo and win National Championships so they can't be overrated.
I love Grajales. I think if he was a little more technical and aggressive, he'd be very hard to beat. On the bottom it's like he's trying to get himself into a bad position so he can do one of his funky moves and get a reversal and or pin. On takedowns he trys throws a lot off tie-ups. They don't work so good at this level.
He'll make it to the NCAA. But he'll probably end up 2-2 or something. He has 3 years to bulk up and be an AA. I think he can do it. The skill is there. Just put it together, be aggressive, and the wins will come. Until he dominates his opponents, he'll be 2 steps behind Taylor or Dake. I was hoping for another Kellen, who out of the box brought it. He's not there yet but hopefully the lightswitch turns on and we get a stud. Without a doubt, he's wrestling better than ever right now. Now to take those extra 2 steps and he beats those top 10 guys.
|3 years 45 weeks ago||Agree On Grajales for the most part||
These guys are so good in college that it's hard to wrestle up a weight and be successful. Usually theses guys cut 5-10 pounds to get down a weight class to be bigger for that weight. Eric is not a 149 lber. You can tell in his matches he gets a little gassed. Probably because he wants to keep his weight on and to get in really good shape, he'd loose it. I still say he's under performing a little. He's close to beating the top 10s. But he was ranked the #2 recruit and isn't having the success that #1 David Taylor is, who looks like he'll never get beat and follow in his coaches steps. Taylor is one tough SOB! Still I think Grajales has a chance to be a multiple All-American.
I'm actually most disappointed in Biondo this year. He just doesn't have it. Looks like he'll not be a AA. Can't seem to beat anybody in the top 10. Last year he did.
Can't wait for Kellen Russell vs Montel Marion. Kellen better get more agressive and score some takedowns in his matches or eventually he'll get knocked off. And it could happen at the wrong time like last years NCAA. Kellen should have been in the finals but got beat by Mike Thorn from Minnesota, who he had beaten 2x earlier that year. Thorn has only 1 loss this year to Russell. Kellen goes against #2 and #5 this weekend. Good luck!

UM doing extremely well. Up 13-9 after 7 bouts and we're winning #8 easily.
|3 years 45 weeks ago||Love UM Wrestling but where's the recruits?||
I just can't believe since the new facility opened and it's the best in the country that we can't get any big time recruits to come to UM. They struck out on everyone this year. Ornsby going to Stanford. Phillips going to NC State. I would have thought that Big Ten wrestling, a good young team, and the facility would have put recruiting over the top for a lot of guys. Anyone with inside knowledge of why we're missing on these top prospects?
And Go Blue and good luck this weekend!

Who did Terry Bowden eat? My god, he looks like a spitting replica of Fat Bastard.
|4 years 5 weeks ago||Questions||
I assume you were at the match. I know Eric was ranked #10 at 133 and Zac was supposed to redshirt, but you mentions Eric looked heavy. You think he'll be staying at 149? On Biondo's blog he posted a week ago that that Eric was looking really skinny. So I was extremely surprised that he was at 149. And more so that he got beat.
Zeerip kills me. For a guy who has so much talent, he does nothing on the mat. never shoots, looks tired, and gets beat more than he wins. If he would show some aggression, he'd win 90% of his matches.
Yates is their next stud. He seems to have all pistons rolling.
And what happened to Biondo. Not being able to get out on bottom?
|4 years 8 weeks ago||Tate 1st interception||
I was sitting in the far endzone during this play. I saw Brian gave it an 8, as in a very bad play. But i thought it was more on the recievers. Or it could have been my perspective.
I saw Tate scrambling and throw it down the field where 2 UM recievers could have caught the ball. The footbal doctrine says if your QB is scrambling, you as a reciever come back to the QB and ball. Well I saw our 2 guys just standing there waiting for the ball to get to them when CB Micah Hyde actually went to the football and intercepted it. I couldn't tell if the ball would have gotten to them, but from my vantage point, it would have. If just one of them would have came back to the ball, he could have at least batted it down or even caught it. Very annoying, especially since Hyde is from my High School. Hated to see him make a crucial play against the Wolverines.
Anyone see this play the same way as me?
|4 years 8 weeks ago||Best players theory||
I can understand you wanting to only use one and there's a logic to that line of thinking. But in football, you always want your best 11 players on the field at all times.
To me Tate and Denard are the 2 best players on offense. It makes sense to have them both in the game at the same time. One's a split out/backfield and the others the QB. I know it will never happen but I think it could be a helluva move. Especially since Tate has proven he can move the team through the pass and Denard moves it more by the run. Mix it up a little and have some fun. See if Tate can catch a ball and move him out and actually throw the ball his way. That would really confuse a defense. And maybe we don't come out at half and go 3 and out any more. Or score on the first drive but don't sniff a point until the 4th quarter.
To me, the offense needs consistency. With both guys playing every series, we could move the ball a little more consistent.
|4 years 49 weeks ago||Radio||
I heard on the radio today that he is very good friends with the one and only, Jim Harbaugh. If Michigan has another rough year, could he be our next coach? Only time will tell I guess...
|5 years 5 days ago||Cincinnati/Louisville?||
I think the Big 11 really wants Notre Dame but I doubt they do anything because that would mean getting beat an awful lot. I think if they get someone, it will be a really good lower tier school. Cincinnati really jumps out at me. Undefeated this year and if they can bump off Florida, it will open up a lot of Big 11 eyes. They have the Ohio recruiting. They could be a good fit. Strong in Basketball. No hockey or wrestling, but most of everything else.
Then comes Louisville. Every few years they have a really good football team. Always good in basketball. Rutgers goes in here as well.
I think these are the type of teams that would jump ship.
|5 years 3 weeks ago||That would be fun to go to||
See him live. Might have to skip out of work! he might be our starter next year if Tate doesn't improve a lot over the summer.
|5 years 3 weeks ago||Most I have ever seen||
From a visiting team in the stadium. Made me sick. You could tell lots of people sold them on Stub hub or the like. Wished our fans had more faith. Take away the turnovers and we win that game. They played that well. Then those people who sold their tickets would have been really mad!
|5 years 3 weeks ago||Power no but good yes.||
They are pretty much always ranked and have a few studs. Having a good team has nothing to do with size of school in wrestling. It's about getting guys to commit even though they don't get a scholarship. Wrestling only has 9 for approx. 30 teammates. Starters get most of them. Others just wrestle because they love it or the school. Parents really support their kids in wrestling and help make their dreams come true by sending their sons to excellent wrestling programs out of state. Paying out of state tuition is not fun. Props to all parents that do or at least help out!
|5 years 3 weeks ago||Was there||
Extremely disappointed in the match. Was I expecting a win? No. I know they are redshirting probably 5 guys who will start next year. But I was baffled at how no one could get off the bottom. And everyone looked so tired and out of shape. They've been practicing for a while, they should be able to go 7 minutes.
Most disappointing was Justin Zeerip. He moved up a weight class and was supposed to be one of the leaders on the team. I thought he looked really, really bad.
You know why Coby Boyd is not on the team any more? He was a top recruit last year.
|5 years 4 weeks ago||No issues here||
Had too many by me. I couldn't believe how much red was in the stadium. Talk about UM fans giving up an selling their tickets. I was just annoyed when the whole stadium started doing O-H-I-O. That really torked me. But everyone around just cheered normally, which was nice for a change.
|5 years 4 weeks ago||He's young||
And in a new system. We know RR hasn't even put in 100% of his plays yet. Learning how to read an end is probably much tougher than it seems. You can tell he's decent at it but not great. I was watching TP today at the game and he does the qb keeper beautifully. At the last second he would pull it out and run for 5-10 yards. If Tate can get that down, wait that extra second to get the end to commit one way or the other, then the running plays will be 10x better. Which will in turn help the passing game and open lanes so he doesn't get so many balls picked off.
I hope he uses his attitude this off season to drive himself and the team to new heights. If he doesn't, then it could be goodbye RR.
|5 years 4 weeks ago||Echo the Denard Commnet||
That's what I was going to say. With Tate having such a bad day, if RR had any confidence in DR, he would have been in the game. But passing is what moved the ball today, so he stayed with the Force and got nipped.
If TF and DR don't drastically improve next year, I see DG taking over next year as a freshman. That is, if he doesn't bolt for Florida, who are after him hard now...
|5 years 4 weeks ago||Echo the sentiments||
The team played wonderfully today. Defense really stepped up except for their one long scoring drive. I'll take that each week. Turnovers cost us today. And if Tate doesn't get a lot better next summer, I see another freshman from Inkster taking over...
|5 years 4 weeks ago||I have plenty of stories||
Unfortunately being from Ohio meant that going to UM was out of the question due to cost, so I went to OSU being a diehard UM fan. Pops is from the UP, and I was raised well.
OSU fans are the worst I have ever experienced. Besides lighting cars on fire after a win for god sakes, or couch, or trash can... I've seen drunk asses flip over a car or scratch the shit out of it just because it had a State of Michigan license plate on it.
Worst offense I seen was my senior year, 1996, when we won 13-9. I'm in C deck and about 5 rows down is a group of guys drunk off there asses. About five rows down from them is a young guy, probably a 7th grader sitting with his dad in a Michigan coat. These assholes staring pouring their liquor on the program and wadding it up and throwing it directly on the neck of the young boy. He was so scared he didn't even move when they did, to even get the 10-15 wads off his neck. Didn't say a word to his dad even. Finally I got pissed at them and yelled something along the lines of hey fuckers, why don't you pick on someone your own size. Flashed my Michigan sweatshirt and was ready to rumble. Of course I got all the fuck you and fuck Michigan, but an usher say us jawing and came up. He asked what was going on. I said that fucker there keeps throwing shit in that kids hood. The usher, to his credit grabbed him and took him out. I never did see him again, so I believe he had to be booted. Then the kid finally got the wads out of his hood. Felt good to help out a little Michigander. And to finally see a win in person made the day that much better!
|5 years 4 weeks ago||I hope you get a victory for your senior year like I did.||
Year 1996. I am an OSU grad but was born and raised a Wolverine fan my entire life. 1992 freshman year they tied. Worst day ever. There has to be a winner for bragging rights. 1994 we got smoked. But 1996, a beautiful pass to Tai Streets for a 13-9 win. I wore my Michigan gear proudly around campus for weeks. Was the best Senior Year present I could have ever had. I hope you get the same thrill!
Ended up graduating in the 'shoe wearing a Michigan shirt under my gown. Pissed off all my classmates, but you couldn't rub the smile off my face. Great memories!
|5 years 4 weeks ago||Would Harbaugh want to come to Michigan?||
That is the real question. We know he's pissed off a little about a few things/individuals at the University. And you have to remember he had one foot in the door at Stanford during his whole life. His dad coached there and he was going to go there, but Bo got him. So Stanford is home away from home for him. Would almost be like a RR leaving WVU issue again. But personally I think he'd jump at the chance. To right the ship so to speak the way he sees the program, because that's what he was bitching about.
|5 years 4 weeks ago||Depends||
On what bar he was in. Some bars down there are 21 and older only. I haven't been down there in ages so I'm not if that's one or not because I don't recognize the background.
|5 years 6 weeks ago||iMac||
Bought one 2 years ago and have loved it ever since. Only a few programs I used to use regularly I can't use now. But I set up my old Dell in the basement with the Apple Airport, Vonage, and a Roku player. Works well and the iMac picks up the Airport with ease over 2 floors, no loss in d/l speed.
|5 years 6 weeks ago||3rd year is almost a must||
I say this because if he is fired, then it's back to square one with recruits and system. Unless they would hire a coach who runs the zone read offense like RR does. You get another pro-style coach in here and then the players are all wrong for that offense.
I think what we need is to get a couple freaks on the d-line and a couple corners who can play man all day and give out more than they take. The D steps up and shuts down some offenses, our offense gets pumped and they play a little more physical and get the ball in the endzone more. Talent is there on offense, while consistency is not. Talent is not there on defense. That's what needs the most work.
|5 years 6 weeks ago||Poll Question||
So I can't start my own thread yet but I had an interesting thought for a poll question for the board. If someone agrees feel free to post it on its own thread. And of course it's around should RR be fired if UM loses the last three games and ends up 5-7.
As we can all see, the team has digressed each season under RR as the year went on. And they're 0 for October over the last 2 years. Is having 2 bad, losing seasons worthy of the axe? I think from a football perspective and being at a major University like Michigan it is. Do I think it will happen? No, especially when Coleman says she backs him. I just hope and pray they win there next three and the players and coaches save a little face.
But what intrigued me more about this poll question is some digging I did tonight that might sway a vote or 2.
Last year, Desmond Howard was interviewed by Columbus radio, I believe with Herbstreit, and he said if RR has another season like last years season, he won't survive a third year. This coming from a person who was on the search committee and face of the University.
Then I found an interesting quote from Bill Martin which said something to the effect that RR and he were talking over the summer and they both joked that if they go 3-9 again this year, they'll both have "for sale" signs in their lawns.
I think that quote from Martin is gold. He basically said if we can't be .500 next year, we'll both be fired because we did poorly at our jobs.
Is 5-7 such a huge step forward from 3-9 to save a man his job?
So blog community, does a 5-7 record get RR fired or not? Howard and Martin think it does...
|5 years 6 weeks ago||Love Him||
He gives as well as he receives. I look forward to listening to Terry and Mike every day. They always make me laugh, especially during football season.
|5 years 7 weeks ago||Grajeles and Boyles redshirting too?||
Didn't listen to it but you said the top 2 freshman recruits would be redshirting too. Was it Grajeles and Boyle?
I'll still be going to all the matches and the Big 10, but it won't be nearly as fun.
As a side note, anyone notice that UM hasn't gotten a nationally ranked prospect for next years class yet? I wonder what the problem is? Too many young guys or what?
|5 years 7 weeks ago||PSU Game||
I took a buddy to that game. After PSU scored he wanted to leave. I said, hold on, if Breaston gets it to the 50 on the return, we have a chance. Well Breaston did and the rest is history. I still like that as my favorite UM win I've seen live. A close second was at the shoe in 1997 when Tai Streets go 80 yards for the games only touchdown. Loved seeing that from C Deck! And this year's ND game was pretty special too.
|5 years 7 weeks ago||That's Robinson||
As a long time Denver Broncos fan, I know all about Robinson. He played this same defense with them for years and it drove me crazy. 10 yards off the ball on the WRs, so easy to play pitch and catch. Beware, if he's here next season, you'll see more of the same. He's been running it for 20 years. He's not going to change unless RR makes him.
|5 years 7 weeks ago||Agree||
If you look who we have committed so far, it's not the huge need areas. Like OL, DB, DT, and LB. That's a big problem I have with RR. Not sure if he's just not getting them or is too concerned with getting the skilled position guys he wants for offense. If you never block, or in turn get to the QB, it's hard to win a game...
|5 years 10 weeks ago||Again, My opinion||
Didn't like him as the pick. I don't like the offense and never will. And yes, I find ways to reinforce my beliefs like Denard and Zoltan decisions. That being said, he is getting his players going in the right direction. Being competitive. I admit that fully.
But I do think he needs to be a better coach during practice. Pass blocking and wr's flowing with the qb when he's scrambling (which is almost every play) needs to vastly improve. And practice punt catches more. My god, how many fumbles is that in 2 years?
|5 years 10 weeks ago||Applaud RR?||
Why? Did he do anything on the field. Part of the reason Tate was having a tough go is out o-line can't pass block very well and the wr's weren't flowing with the wr's to get open. Herbie even said that during a game. That's coaching.
Denard throws ok in those 5-10 yard pass range. Has never led the team when it counts. RR keeps saying his team is young and learning. Well, Tate has led the team back 2x already. That's what we call experience. And yes, even though Denard scored the td, I say you have to go with what you know works.
It's a huge blunder IMO. Just like giving Zoltan the go ahead to to fake punt it last game. In that situation, if you put Zoltan in, you go up to him and say, kick the damn ball.
Again, that's on the coach. The very bad and arrogant coach we have.
|5 years 10 weeks ago||I back my team.||
But I don't back my coach. Period. And that's my prerogative. Idiot.
|5 years 10 weeks ago||whatever....||
I'm not about to jump off a ledge and knew we'd get beat 4 or 5 times this year, but yes, RR made an extremely bad decision letting Denard stay in. I think when trying to discipline one kid effects the whole team, then a bad decision was made. Denard had no business being on the field. Tate was the guy. He's done it twice already and throws a much better ball. You have to give it to him. Way to go RR. Hated u from the start. The trend continues...
|5 years 10 weeks ago||My 4 big plays that cost us the win.||
I truly believe the better team Saturday won. That being said, our beloved Wolverines still should have won the game. I personally think the team just plain sucked for 3 quarters before they woke up, which is why they deserved to get beat. BUT, if all the big plays wouldn't have gone against Michigan, we would have won by playing only one quarter of football. (I personally thinks that this comback really shows you how bad MSU is and why they were 1-3).
Big play 1: After the interception, the bad snap causes Forcier to not due squat and we have to settle for a FG. Isn't there anyone better than Moose?
Big Play 2: The fake punt. Now I know supposedly Zoltan is given the otion to go there, but to even allow him to think about it down there is squarely on RR. You line up and do a qb sneak. If Tate and the o-line can't get 4 inches, you don't deserve to win. But you don't allow a punter who is 12 yards back to even think about running it!
Big Play #3: Stonum's fumble on the 10. HUGE!
Big PLay #4: Bad throw by Tate in OT.
Our o-line is horrendous. They don't block for squat. I even saw a play in the second half where MSU only rushed 3 people and but a d-man got through a UM double team and made Tate throw a bad pass. A double team? There guy wasn't LT out there. Pathetic!
I hate Greg Robinson's bend but don't break defense. I can say I've hated it for 10+ years, as I am a Bronco's fan and had to put up with the same garbage with them as I see today. I always thought we were lucky to win the 2 SB's with him as D-Coordinator. This is college football, not the NFL.
Our corners don't need to be back 10 yards every play. Our safeties don't need to be back 15 yards every play. (How many pitch and catch 10 yards plays did MSU have?) The OLB doesn't need to split a tackle and flanker and get beat on an outside throw every time because the OLB is nowhere near as fast as the flanker. There is no need to drop 8 and rush only 3, giving the QB all day to throw. Hello Mr. 3rd and 17 and I pick up 29 yards for a first. Until he changes things, this team is doomed on defense. (And I'm telling you now, these is the same defense he played with Denver. So expect doom!)
|5 years 27 weeks ago||Agreed||
We haven't seen Grajeles yet but I'd think he'd want to stay small for his first year. Unless Kellen decides to be offensive, he'll never win a championship. Metcalf would abuse him with his relentless push. I think if Humphrey moves up, he could beat Kellen as well. Humphrey seems to be more refined and put 2-3 moves together. Kellen hasn't done that yet. He has all the tools, he just needs to bump it up one notch and I could see him beating anyone. Maybe a very good Grajeles will make a difference in the practice room????
|5 years 27 weeks ago||I might||
I haven't gone to it yet. Usually Michigan only sends their B and C team wrestlers. The starters don't go to it. None did last year.
|5 years 27 weeks ago||Didn't know that>jjhuddle.com||
But with OSU grabbing a lot of lighter weights ala Palmer and Tony Jameson, where will Logan fot in? He's the quality of wrestler that would probably get a full ride. Don't think OSU could offer that to him next year. But who knows. If he likes it that much and likes the competition, he can still go there and see where he falls out.
I'm an Ohio boy who lives in Ypsi. Been a diehard Michigan fan all my life though. Check out jjhuddle.com It's all ohio sports and have a blog for each sport. Wrestling's is huge. You have everyone from Dom DiSabito to Tommy Rowlands posting. Very informative and they talk recruiting a lot. It's a very informative site to see where people are leaning on going.
|5 years 28 weeks ago||Agree about Zeerip||
If the Big 11 didn't get so many qualifiers, he wouldn't have made it. I guess I'm being to judgmental but for a guy who was undefeated in high school and got second at senior nationals or whatever, I was expecting a lot more. He got abused regularly. Let's hope the weight class shift will get him back on track.
|5 years 28 weeks ago||Monroeville||
It is very disappointing that we're not getting to many from these schools. Especially since michigan developed national champs out of these boys.
But I would be all over Monroeville in Ohio now. They have 4 studs in the waiting: Hunter Steiber, 119, Jr ranked #13 as a so. Logan Steiber, 125, Sr, ranked #1 as jr. Logan finished 3rd this year at the USA freestyle championships. Cam Tessari, 130, jr, ranked #9 as a so. Chris Phillips, 171, Jr, ranked #2 as a so.
I'd take any of them, especially Phillips since we'll need heavier weights. But I guess he's 3 years away yet.

There's been some stats recently over the past few years on which state is best. they count the number of all-americans as the criteria. Michigan hasn't cracked the top 5 yet. It's been PA, OH, NJ, CA, and can't remember the 5th.
Michigan has its studs but not on a scale to match those states. And it seems if a Michigan team travels to OH for Beast Of The East, the studs don't do so well against the other studs from other states.
But I was nice to see 3 Davison prospects in the finals. To bad all 3 lost.
|5 years 28 weeks ago||Not quite yet...||
Last year was the first year that you could say that Graham was the best in Ohio. St. Eds is and will continue to be a factory, and they're 9x out of 10 better than Graham. But I think it's apples and oranges. They're both now top 5 programs in the nation. St. Eds has been for years. Jordan has made Graham step it up in recent years. 2 tough as nails schools.

I go to all the home matches. Absolutely love the sport. Got to chat with Coach McFarland when he saw me wearing a UM wrestling shirt as he was coming out of Mongolian. Super nice guy.
For once the low weights are gonna carry the team. You also forgot Coby Boyd who was redshirted and ranked in the top 5 of his weight class coming out of Graham. He could push for the 149 spot if he's still small. Not sure who will step in for 174 but I was extremely disappointed in Zeerip last year. Always seemed gassed after the first period. I also think we need a true heavyweight. Phillips is too small.
I think a few more upper weight recruits and this team could be special. And lets hope Steve Luke stays home and plays Xbox instead of helping the Buckeyes get better, as he's going to grad school at OSU.

Just found out from my friend back in the hometown that Micah got an offer to play QB from UM. He's 6'0" 175lbs and runs a 4.45. He did everything for the Redmen this past year. My dad who watched several games says he's the best he's ever seen come out of our school. Supposedly this isn't a full ride, but a partial. Toledo wants him bad and has offered a full ride. It's down to those 2. I thought that would me he'd take Toledo but according to his family, he wants to play in the Big 10. His brother Marcus Hyde plays Safety for MSU. Marcus had a pick against us in their game against us this year. I guess we'll wait and see. I'd think he'd be better on defense than offense due to his size, but maybe Barwis bulks him up if he comes here. Didn't know they didn't give full scholarships in football, but that is what I was told???

It it ensures that we never have another terrorist attack in the US, I'd go for that.
|6 years 9 weeks ago||again you got the context wrong||
I mean change the way he's runnning the spread, not run a pro-style offense because that's his thing. Changes can get made for the better to make the team better NOW. Why can't you see this. It is Rod, god of the spread. Or is he overrated? I guess we'll see in a few years but I'd still like to see a few new wrinkles that make UM a MUCH better team. If he can't do that, which won't take much, then he's not for UM.
|6 years 9 weeks ago||Please||
I am by no means a fair weather fan. I've been a diehard UM fan since I was 5, so shut it. I'm not rooting against my team either. I want them to succeed. Now, you grasped at only part of what I was saying. Rod has been here for a year. The players have had the playbook for a year. They've been live for over 3 months and they are not getting better. They are getting worse. I knew this year was going to be shaky but a good coach gets his players to improve every week. I think after 3 months of live practice, you should know your playbook and keys to success in this offense. The players just aren't getting it done and it's a reflection on Rod. It's his offense. If he coached it up better, we'd have saw better results by now. And by adapting, I mean adapt the spread, not go power I. He himself said he could do this. But he can't or won't. If Sheridan runs the option the best and you want to run the ball 80% of time, then you start him. If Cone is your best passer and you figure we need to pass a lot more, you start him. That's what I mean by adapting. And expand on plays that work. Create new ones in the same vein. That's what I was getting at.
|6 years 9 weeks ago||Success?||
I wouldn't call this system, with this team, a success. They play as poorly as I have ever seen. If Rod was such a great football coach, don't you think we'd at least be getting better ever week? And yet, we're getting worse. To be beat by Toledo... If Rod was a good coach, he'd adapt to what this team does well and use it in the games. But he's either bullheaded or arrogant, because he hasn't changed a thing and it shows. Teach up your stupid system and be a coach, or adapt it already! I personally want to see Cone or Feagin in at qb now, as our season is lost. I honestly can see us not winning another game. I bet Cone throws better than Threet and Sheridan, and if Rod is so worried about staying true to his system, Feagin is without a doubt the best running qb, so give him a shot already. This way, he'll have a lot of experience for next year and he'll fight with Beaver and Forcier for the starting spot because Threet and Sheridan will not see action next year.
|6 years 9 weeks ago||I disagree||
I look at it this way. We are bad because of RichRod and his stupid system. You can't tell me that if we would have gotten Les, Schiano, or someone else who stayed with a pro-style offense that we would have had the purging we had. Mallet would be our qb and he's 100x better than our 2 jokers. Boren would have stayed. The 2 other senior lineman probably wouldn't have quit, making our o-line a strength and we would have one of the better qb's in the Big Ten.
Rod did this to the team, no one else, because he likes this crazy system. I personally hate it. I'm old school. A qb should hand off the ball and throw it, not run the stupid thing.
And his running plays are basically 80% sweeps. The sweep is the hardest run to execute and yet, that's all we run along with the qb keeper up the middle.
Now in 2 or 3 years we might have a hell of a team, but I ask you this, why should we have to wait? That's how screwy his system is. And I don't care if we win a NC with this system, I'm still going to hate it and wish Rod would have never came here.
I'll never stop cheering for my team, but god, this is ridiculous!

I've always been tired of all the talk about hiring a "Michigan Man" No Rod
