| 3 weeks 6 days ago | I almost did this... |
Several years ago, circa 2005 or 2006, I was contacted by the Red Cross because my bone marrow was matched with a 14 year old female cancer patient from Minnesota. They asked if I'd think about donating bone marrow for her and I didn't give it a second thought. The Red Cross sent out a nurse who took like 15 vials of blood from me. These were to be reanalyzed to be absolutely sure I was a good candidate. It turned out I was. The procedure the explained is very intense. I was to go to UM Hospital for 2 straight days, it was either 8 or 10 hours per day, with the needle in while they extract the bone marrow. They explained that the procedure is not difficult but extremely taxing on the body and mind. And recovery is more difficult than one would think. I was a few days away from the procedure when I learned the girl took a turn for the worse and eventually passed. I never got to donate. Still makes me sad to this day. Cameron is a true hero. Props from me to you.

I'm surprised this hasn't got a thread but last night a 247 reporter who said Maryland got an invite before it was officially announced, stated North Carolina has one on the table right now. Many are thinking this is legit because the leak isfrom the reported who got the first scoup. Then Virginia and Georgia Tech are being discussed for #16. So MJ was right on the money in his article. I guess we'll see if its true soon enough...

I agree with the blogger above, the books are better than the TV show. If you like the first book, then grab the others. You won't be disappointed. |

| 22 weeks 1 day ago | Dexter Books & Finale |
If you like the show, you'll love the books. Even more so than the tv show. There are some similarities between the two but of course they changed a lot. Like LaGuerta. She dies in book 1 and Doakes is still alive in book 4, although he doesn't have a tongue and is missing limbs from, if I remember correctly, from the ice truck killer. So he mumbles and swears a lot at Dexter. Awesome stuff. And Deb does find out he is a killer in the books too, and doesn't turn him in. I haven't got to books 5 and 6 yet. Tackled all 5 books of George RR Martin over the last year. One other really cool thing about the books is Rita's kids are like Dexter. So he starts teaching them the code. Dark and creepy, Jeff Lindsay writes some good stuff. The only thing I didn't like about the finale was how sloppy Deb shooting LaGuerta was. All police guns have ballistics taken before given to an officer. So unless they dug the bullet out, or dropped her in the ocean, police would find out it was Deb's gun. Not to mention the phone call to dispatch and them knowing she's at the marina. I could see Dexter going back into LaGuerta house and buring the search warrant and other stuff. So that's ok. But no blood on the dress as she walks away? Pretty messy ending. I wonder how they'll clean it up in next season's opening show. |

My dad is from Munising and my gramps still lives there. I vacation there every summer to see him. He's 94. I love the fact that Munising had a ski jump team back in the day. My dad was on the team. Not sure if they still do it today or not.
Awesome story. Way to go team. Nice to see a U.P. school win it all.

I read on twitter the other day that one scout thinks Reon Dawson is a better CB prospect than Cam Burrows. So if we snake oil him, maybe he turns out better than Burrows and Conley after all? One can dream. Need to land him first. |

| 26 weeks 23 hours ago | Question on Dutton, Zeerip, Apland for those in the know. |
What's up with these guys. Dutton was injured during wrestle-offs with Jackson and transferred in as a national quallifier ranked #10. But he has yet to see the mat. Is he still hurt or did Jackson win the job? Brandon Zeerip and Ben Apland, both starters last year, were not listed on wrestle-offs and both have already redshirted. Are they not with the team any more? Hurt? Anyone know? Thanks. |

| 26 weeks 23 hours ago | Michigan Wrestling Wins 2 over weekend, including Upset. |
Over the weekend, the #16 Michigan Wrestling Wolverines took two duals from #10 Oregon State and unranked Stanford. 141 lb Camryn Jackson is starting to look like a true stud. After redshirting and wrestling with 2x NCAA Champion Kellen Russell the past year, he's taken over the 141 weight class with a bang. Including defeating the #2 ranked wrestler Mangrum from OSU this weekend. Jackson is still undeated on the season. The Wolverines have 4 freshman in the line-up, three being true freshman in Bruno, Massa, and Thomas. Jackson marks the 4th. These guys are going to be very good over the next several years and Michigan will be adding 4 very high ranked commits to next year, including #5 Ben Whitford, #11 Brian Murphy, #2 Adam Coon, and #20 Domenic Abounader. Coon and Abounader turned down elite football scholarships for wrestling. Loving it! Go Blue!
#16 Michigan 21, #10 Oregon State 18
#16 Michigan 26, Stanford 6

Also known as Rapistberger... Findlay had a big sign up in town of him but after the rape charges, they took it down. Now in true Ben fashion, he says he's from Liberty Benton High School on Monday Night Football instead of Findlay High School. Such a classy guy. |

Back on the early 2000's, the Findlay Mall had a store like this. Haven't been in the mall in years though to know if it is still running. Was called the Ohio State - Michigan Store. Just like this, split down the middle. They also sold Notre Dame stuff. I don't remember anything MSU related in it. |

was not a back-up. He started for 4 years for Denver and was an All-Pro in 2000. Then started for Miami, Tampa, Chicago, and Tampa again. He started and or played in 92 games. Granted, he was never a stud stand-out except for 2000 and 2004 in Tampa Bay, but out of all those before him that we're talking about, he'd be ranked #3 in starts behind Brady and Harbaugh. I think Grbac could have had better totals but he quit too soon. Collins lost his job after what 2-3 seasons, and the others, although started a few games, don't compare. I don't think he's given enough credit. He was a pretty good quarterback for the skills he was blessed with.

I'm sure Michigan will have a Michigan Day for those seniors not invited to the combine. Martin could try it again if he had a bad day. There is also enough out there on Youtube that NFL teams interested have more video proving what a machine he is. He'll still get drafted and I believe have a pretty good career. |

Personally I think this is a fantastic idea, but I'd really love to see is a Moderator for all sports. We get intermittent updates from MGoBlog members for lacrosse, wrestling, and softball. I think it's be cool if we could get someone to do weeklies (or more) when that sport is in season. I'm a wretling freak and would love more inside coverage. Obviously the Moderators would have to have some real contacts to keep up with the insides of each particular program, which is easier said than done. But one can dream... Maybe in future? |

| 1 year 21 weeks ago | I went to Ohio |
From 91-96. I was born and raised Michigan fan. That has never changed. I grew up in NW Ohio and applied to Toledo, Michigan, and Ohio. I was accepted to each but just couldn't afford the out of state tuition. I was so depressed. So I went to the better engineering school, Ohio it was... I wore my Michigan shirts around campus. I was looked at and maybe swore at behind my back, but no one ever jumped me or anything. My friends could only shake their heads and tell me they hate me because that was back in the day when we were 9-1-1 against Ohio. They had nothing on me. Oh the good ol' days. What's funny is now I get more crap than ever about going to Ohio. Everywhere I go, Buckeye fans are amazed that I went to Ohio while being a Michigan fan. They all believe just because I went to that school, I should have changed allegences. When I say I hate Ohio and everything it stands for and explain myself, that's when the Buckeye fans really tear into me. 90% of which never attended the school and have no basis to defend it. Oh well. I know I'm right. I am a proud Michigan fan will never change. Never. Go Blue! |

In one of the Webcasts I watched, they said he was injured and so was Kellen, but they'd both be back at Vegas. At this point, with a third of the season gone, I'd half expect him to redshift even if he's not injured anymore. |

This could be it's own post but I can't create one so I'll post it here since you mentioned wrestling. Great article and very interesting. I following Michigan wrestling religiously and I didn't even know there were a bunch of Olympic hopefuls training at the new Bahna Center. This just helps the current team even more. All those pictured are mutiple All American and a few NCAA champs. Jake Herbert being the most destinguished as a World placer.
Next year's recruits: Taylor Massa, St. Johns, MI #1 Overall Recruit in the Nation (picked UM over MSU because of the above article. He specifically cited training partners to ready himself for the Olympics, which is a dream of his.) Rossi Bruno, Brandon, FL #12 (Same high school that produced our #6 ranked 149 lber, Eric Grajales) Jordan Thomas, Geenville, MI #35 Corey Lester, John Burroughs, MO (multiple state champ. a sleeper)

| 1 year 31 weeks ago | Totally agree |
Denard is an exceptional athlete but a good/great QB he is not. IMO, he is actually throwing the ball worse than last year, so he's regressing. He doesn't play well under center. His ball fakes on passes are nonexistent. And as the announcers pointed out 10x yesterday, he doesn't plant his foot when he throws, throwing so high it makes Henne's throws look almost catchable. Almost all gifted athletes can play QB. But can they make the throws that need to be made to win a championship? Can they read blitzes and coverages that need to be made to win a championship? At this stage and after 20 games as a starter, Denard has proven he can't do the things he needs to do to win a championship. Is it all him? No. But the QB position is the most important position on the field. He will continue on at QB, I have no doubt, but his mistakes will hurt the team and cause a few more losses when he's in a winable games. For this reason, I think Devin should be our QB. For the type of offense Hoke and Borges want to run, he is the answer. And in 2 years, Morris even more so. Use Denard as a wideout, flanker, RB, but scratch the QB position. He'll never win against the tough teams in the B1G the day he plays now. |

I think that if the Big Ten goes to say 16 teams, they'll push up the conference games to 10. then everyone is pretty much guaranteed 7 home games a year. 5/5 in conference and the other 2 MAC probably. ND would be part of the B10 at that point so everything still works with rivalries and you'd have 5 teams to rotate with within the conference. I like it. Sometime in the future I could see it happening. |

Awesome as always. Recruiting is their #1 need IMO. Then their wrestlers wrestlung up to their potential is #2 (hello Justin Zeerip). Get some studs for next year including Taylor Massa abd we'll be alright. |

to question 1, I don't think anyone knows why. especially after building the best practice facility in the nation. Q2. Kirk Trost and Mike K. (not going to butcher his name) were both fired. Each had been there 5-6 years, in Trost's case like 15 and he was a national champ at hwt. Coach said he thought they were falling behind the the B1G opponents and needed a shake up. Especially in recruiting, which both new guys are supposed to be all star recruiters. So maybe Q2 really answers Q1? |

A lot of high schools have astro turf fields. Blows my mind still. But shows you how proud the community is of a good footabll team. As they'll pass a millage to raise taxs to fund a project like that. |

| 1 year 50 weeks ago | A NW Ohio guy here |
I was fortunate to play in a state title game. Unfortunately we got beat. The next year we made it to the semis and were beat by the champs. When you have success, it breeds a ravenous culture where people can't get enough. Our bleachers, home or away, were always filled and all anyone could talk about was football and who we got coming back next year. Ohio has had a ton of successful schools in the past 50 years. Massillon Washington won a ton of titles. Cleveland St. Ignatius was ranked #1 in USA Today for a few years. Now Cleveland Glenville and Cincinnati St Xavier are playing on National TV. Even smaller schools are racking up titles like St Henry, Delphos St John, and Maria Stein Local and their kids are getting recruited to big colleges. Then to add a lot of the kids stay in state and go to TSIO, Cincinnati, BGSU, Toledo, Miami, Ohio, etc. the people that live there get to still see the kids they watched in high school become successful in a bigger stage. It's a never ending cycle of success. So they stay passionate all year around.
