Classy

Can't say enough about how classy their football program is. Just a really classy group of guys.

Also a Kazoo transplant in Chicago

and I agree that Dragon's Milk is unbelievably good. One of my favorites. New Holland puts out some very, very good beer. Any IPA fans out there? I just tried Three Floyds IPA a few weeks back and was blown away. Very good stuff.

Harsh

I don't know how you can call Green Line "tasteless swill" but to each his own. Personally, I think it's a decent brew. Matilda is probably their finest product and 312 is good but not great. Goose Island does put out very good beer; here's to hoping that continues.

Among my earliest sports memories

is being overwhelmed by the excitement that shot generated. Grant Hill will always be one of my favorite Pistons. Respect!

???

Do you think DB actually interviewed him for the position? Miles said he could not speak to the "substance" of the meeting. Why would DB discuss anything other than the coaching position? And why can't we hire a friggin' head coach? So many questions. So few answers. Head officially asplode.

I wanted Oregon to win

...until Corso put on that duck mask. Then I just wanted to stadium to implode. If Miles is introduced as our next coach, maybe we can make a Les Miles mask for Game Day picks.

I brought the sammiches

I brought the sammiches for the post-posbang eating sesh.

Hello

I came for the posbang.

Pay those players!

No money? Fie on this study! Won't someone please think of the children?! They should be paid! Their families are starving and their free-rides just don't cut it. If only those godless, freedom-hating Communists at the NCAA could get this through their Neanderthal, pea-sized brains! /s

*goes to freeze himself in time for kickoff on Sept. 4th*

Dinardo

Let's just throw in the towel now, guys. Our defense is not built to stop teams with "downhill" style running attacks. Unfortunately the laws of college football are incredibly rigid: if you feature a spread attack, your defense can only play well against offenses that feature a spread attack. Damn it! I forgot all about that old law.

My genitalia

My genitalia might not recover so easily this time. Dong thoroughly punched through. Ow.

I'm pretty sure

I'm pretty sure Cass Tech players decline offers from State because, well, State sucks. Wilcher doesn't really have to point that out - it's a well-known fact.

Dumb and Dumber reference?

Given the context, I love it.

I heard he's related

to our very own Denard Robinson.

I have a feeling

I have a feeling there are many schools out there claiming to be the originators of a certain chant. I wonder how often Miami, Florida, Tennessee or anyone else ridicules Michigan for the "It's great to be a Michigan Wolverine" line. I'm not going to pretend to be an authority in the area and claim to know exactly when and where every chant originated. If nothing else, take heart at this imitation for it is the sincerest form of flattery ... or unoriginality ;)

Yes.

Yes. It really does sit that low. They dug up a lot of earth when they constructed this stadium.

I understand

I understand the frustration with Lovie Smith. The owners are reputedly frugal, perhaps to a fault. I think the Bears should be much, much better than this. No one likes a bunch of underachievers ...

And yeah

the logos faintly resemble one another.

My cousins

are also Bears fans. They live a block or two away from Soldier Field. Earlier in the season, my cousin's facebook status was: "Now I know what it's like to be a Lions fan..." to which I replied: Yes, because your team hasn't been to the playoffs consistently this decade to say nothing of the fact that you've made it to the Super Bowl. Yeah. You know how it feels to be a Lions fan. No other fan base in the NFL save perhaps the Browns's, knows how it feels to be a Lions fan. They have two great options in the draft between Suh and Eric Berry but it will be at least another two years to see real progress and a legitimate playoff run.

Anyone remember when

Anyone remember when it was the Builder's Square Alamo Bowl? That game against TAMU drove me nuts. We totally got jobbed in that one. Damn the Big XII.

Posts like these

make me wish I could +100. Excellent Simpsons reference.

University of Chicago.

Our prodigal son. Let's bring them back. Hell, they have more Big Ten championships than Michigan State.

/sarcasm.

Coach Rod

has won 3 conference games thus far and has won 8 games in two years. I don't think the AD interpreted these wins as "job-saving."

Bo Pelini

Bo Pelini wasted little time turning the Nebraska defense around. It shouldn't take long for Gerg to install his system if indeed he is a great defensive mind. I have faith.

Exactly.

Charlie Weis never struggled to recruit great talent. I don't see this changing anything. We need to start delivering on the field every Saturday and worry about what we can do to improve our lot on the recruiting trail. Let's not get too preoccupied with this Kelly hire. It's still business as usual as far as I'm concerned.

Great hire.

If Kelly is going to be successful, however, he will need to focus much of his energy on improving Notre Dame's defense. We know they'll put up lots of points but will the defense improve? Coach Rod is in the same boat right now. Defense wins championships!

Carvin --

If you read this, know there are plenty of Michigan fans who are thrilled with your verbal commitment. Can't wait to see you in the winged helmet! Go Blue!

It's mostly a story of credits transferring.

My friend transferred from Eastern Michigan, a fully-accredited institution of higher education and many of her credits did not transfer to M. It can make things awfully difficult for JUCO players.

It's very difficult to

just go out and bring in an experienced player from another program. The staff doesn't waste time touring the country, trying to poach players from other universities. And even if we could land a solid transfer, he would have to sit out a year as NCAA rules dictate. What coaches try to do to get a "quick fix" is bring in JUCO players but this has been discussed before. Not only is it difficult to get the credits to transfer, we don't appear to attract many. Let's just wait and see how the rest of the recruiting season plays out before we panic.

What he failed to realize sooner

is that one of Tebow's tears would have given him everlasting life.

Any chance

we can get Larry Foote to moonlight at LB next season?

Check out the commercials for the ceremony.

They highlight Tebow and McCoy throughout and then the announcer asks "... or will an unsung dark horse (images of Gerhart pop up) surprise us all?" The media wants and demands a McCoy, Ingram or Tebow victory. Toby Gerhart? Is that, like, a character from the West Wing?

This is going to be challenged

by the NFLPA. It might be inevitable but we'll see how it shakes down. In any case, the Lions were horrible before they instituted revenue sharing. I like the way this coaching staff drafted last year. If they can replicate that success this upcoming year, they'll be in decent shape; they need at least two drafts to catch up. Millen made many terrible decisions.

I prefer plays

that result in first downs and touchdowns.

OH well ...

In any case, what a game, eh?

Good.

Let's see TCU and Alabama go head-to-head. I'd love to see 'Bama lose back to back bowl games against a MWC team. Just sayin'

Thanks for the update.

Let's hope they can get on a roll.

Actually, I think there are

34 bowl games, all told.

Yes, I know that.

That doesn't make it more palatable. I'm just sayin' ...

The bigger outrage

is how Mark Ingram escaped to Alabama. I realize he didn't have ties to M and there wasn't much interest but how shitty is it watching him run all over the Florida defense knowing he grew up in our backyard? Damn ...

Money, money, money, moneyyyy ....

money!

Holy Bearcats

That was amazing.

Look out!

Cincy is back. Gilyard is having a monster game.

I never had a problem

with his posts. He brought a lot of enthusiasm when it was needed. Unfortunately, he let other posters get to him too easily when he should have just brushed it off and continued to contribute in a responsible, respectable way.

Perhaps. He struck out

with The Fifteenth so maybe three times a charm?

I think WVa is going to crush

the Scarlet Knights. And I like Cincy over Pitt. Can't wait for Florida vs. 'Bama. I think 'Bama wins in a very close game. Interesting to see how they'll manage without Dunlap.

If Warren leaves,

I think Woolfolk and Turner would be our two starting corners with Christian and Avery backing them up. Personally, I think Woolfolk is best suited at CB.

Locke's Second Treatise

I know, I know. It doesn't live up to the hype of the First Treatise but his theories on civil society are, to put it simply, tantalizing. Is there such a thing as too much marmalade? Guilty! Seriously, I log more time on this site than I actually have time for. Whoops.

Agreed.

It's one of the biggest rivalries in the sporting world. It's hard-hitting and both teams go all out. Any historical data on Bucks injured during The Game?

LAME!
