I wonder if the few poor…

I wonder if the few poor recent hires that became issues and firings/resignations in the football organization have led to a more stringent and more drawn out background check process. i.e. Shemy Schembechler is the one coming to mind, but I thought there were a couple where folks questioned the vetting process.

Seems possible, and it may be why deals sound done, but official announcements lag behind.

It’s still different. Texas…

It’s still different. Texas A&M was not winning before they decided to buy players. OSU may stub their toe in a game (The Game), but we need to be honest. They’ve had a culture that wins games, just not the one that we care most about. They are throwing studs into a locker room that expects to win… that isn’t what A&M was.

Or they might go after Kliff…

Or they might go after Kliff Kingshury who also just withdrew his name from the Raiders OC position. Interesting timing… I also read that Chip Kelly really wants out of UCLA, bad enough to consider OC jobs in college as well as NFL. Day played for Kelly, and they coached together. My money says OSU goes after one of them.

You haven’t checked for…

You haven’t checked for yourself, b/c they have not unfollowed them. Who knows when they started following them in the first place? Anyone looking at their pages could have seen that and started buzz by saying they just started following them only after Harbaugh left, which opened the 30-day window. Could be true, could be social media click-bait, could be nothing. We’ll know soon.

I’m not crying, you’re…

I’m not crying, you’re crying! 😭

That’s a terrible take. You…

That’s a terrible take. You must have him confused with Saban and Urban, because Jim’s issue was with certain folks in management. Plenty of outspoken players about how good Jim was to them.

Honestly I felt like the fan…

Honestly I felt like the fan fest was pretty even, but in waves. We were there when it opened at 10am CT, and it was heavy maize and blue for hours. It was actually amusing to see the lines for each team at various exhibits or when shopping for gear.

But, honestly the amount of purple continued to climb all day, and then it was at least 50/50 in my opinion by about 1pm CT.

I’m one of the Houston locals in my UM gear, but I’d say late afternoon saw a large amount of other UM fans leave the building. I attribute it to time zones… based on “belly time” the West Coasters were just out of lunch while I’m sure lots of UM fans were ready to figure out tonight’s dinner before tomorrow’s feast!!!

UM fan, living in Houston,…

UM fan, living in Houston, still making decisions on tickets for me, and with or without the family. Shot in the dark, but wondering if any sellers are into sports cards and memorabilia, and if you might be willing to do a mix of cash and goods. I can’t tell you which ones…

I can’t tell you which ones based on personal preference, but it’s Houston, which is loaded with food galore. We have plenty of gluten-free friends, and small bites and eating out is never a problem here.

Leave the toaster at home and you’ll be fine. Depending on where you’re staying you’ll be able to find plenty of options. I would check if you’re planning Sunday as your day to grab some things in case they’re closed, though.

Sorry Seth, I should have…

Sorry Seth, I should have added that I saw that sticky and cleared the cache. It didn’t fix the problem. In fact, I think that might actually be what led to the new behavior of the page opening briefly and then erroring out after ads and everything else completely load.

I’m on iPhone 17.1.1 and…

I’m on iPhone 17.1.1 and using Chrome. I have always experienced issues trying to use any browser without going private or incognito.

All of a sudden something happened about 6 weeks ago and I could use the regular browser with no issues at all. It was great, but it reverted again about two weeks ago.

A few days ago I got a new behavior. I can open the site in the regular browser, but not long after it opens and all the ads load up it goes dark and errors out.

It isn’t the worst thing in the world, but it’s annoying when I want to post or respond on the board in the incognito tab since it tends to log you out quickly.

I’d be happy to help mods out if there are any stats or settings to look through that might lend toward a fix.

Damn dude! No, the other…

Damn dude! No, the other significant problem is you. I’m starting to question whether Harbaugh picked on you as a kid or something and you just can’t get over it. Change your name to Pete Shuttlesworth.

Checking your history, why…

Checking your history, why are you even here? You said previously you graduated from UM, but based on your other comments you also seem like your real name must be Pete.

Yeah, I just added a comment…

Yeah, I just added a comment above, because the telling sign to me (pardon the pun)… is the huge discrepancy between first half scores and second half. In the first half of those 3 games Michigan was outscored 50-45. In the second half Michigan outscored them 95-12!

Feels like they had signs and then were absolutely caught off guard with our halftime changes. Fuck them!!!

What Rittenberg and Tom…

What Rittenberg and Tom should add to the story is that in the first half of those games the three teams outscored Michigan 50-45, with Purdue the only lead we had by 1 point.

Michigan then proceeded to make adjustments, and they came out and outscored those three schools 95-12 in the second half!!

Pretty sure Michigan changed up signs at halftime when they could regroup. We kept hearing how great of a 2nd half team we were, and I suspect the sign business had something to do with it… except it was Michigan who was compromised and decided to make the right changes.

I was going to say the same…

I was going to say the same thing. There was still a bit of yesterday’s Rece in there, but largely a different tone. I thought it was interesting to see, but I still say fuck their 50 tickets until Thamel issues a public apology… so in other words, that means fuck them!

This, 100%!!! A few folks…

This, 100%!!! A few folks should take the time to send messages to Michael Robinson at NBC about “Calling a spade a spade.” After his comments Saturday night I feel like it would help to have people on air start mentioning some of these new revelations. Then he can tell Ryan Walters the phrase is, “The pot calling the kettle black.”

Pretty sure Stalions wasn’t…

Pretty sure Stalions wasn’t 100% on the signs based on plenty of busts that would still happen. That’s not what raised suspicion here.

I agree. I think he handled…

I agree. I think he handled this terribly and he’s got no way to save face since he let that chance go by already.

Question for the MGoLawyers……

Question for the MGoLawyers… Assume Pettiti goes forward with something, and UM files the injunction, indicating it will take the fight to the courts. He must know that is coming, without a doubt at this point.

Could it be that he feels like it’s his only option to show the “world” (aka, the mob) that he won’t cater to any one school, while also thinking that this can then drag out for some time until it’s either dropped, whether outright or with a statement that they’ll defer to the ongoing NCAA investigation?

B1G has done a shitty job of handling this thing. The “political” style PR smear campaign got in front of the conference, and, since it went as far as it did, Pettiti lost his chance to make a strong statement at the beginning about investigating and enforcing appropriate penalties, even before the NCAA case, if necessary.

Just curious if he might think it’s his only option. Show the mob the suspension, knowing it will be stayed, and then after it falls off the front page of the media they can work out some other resolution outside of the final month of the season.

I’d sign for myself and 3…

I’d sign for myself and 3 other die hard supporters—my wife and 2 daughters.

Love this idea! Thanks!!!

You keep repeating this post…

You keep repeating this post, we see your opinion. I tend to disagree, because in almost all cases it’s better for a resignation… but in this situation, no doubt resignation is preferred from a future exposure standpoint—for UM that is.

I don’t know the hotel rules…

I don’t know the hotel rules with coaches either, but I wouldn’t speculate that all the analysts and staff are necessarily in the game plan meeting the night before. Also, my speculative assumption, based on the non-stop coverage of the self-imposed suspension by the media, is that Harbaugh was in his own bed the night before the game. My money says the ECU game plan was not going deep into the night before the game, and even if it was, it would be with specific personnel as opposed to full staff.

Two questions… First, what…

Two questions… First, what new language is needed for protection? Wouldn’t his current contract even allow for termination for the potential punishments being discussed.

Second, I saw you say it few times now that it’s nearly impossible for a staffer to go “awol” the night before a game. Why do you feel that way when Michigan’s game the next day was in Ann Arbor and the CMU/MSU game was in East Lansing? Michigan had a Noon game, and you’d assume players and coaches would be showing up early in the morning. I know the players stay in a hotel. I sure some staff do as well, but I wasn’t aware all the coaches and staff do. How would it be impossible that a staffer couldn’t take that short drive to East Lansing the night before? Just curious.

Well, at Texas A&M he’d have…

Well, at Texas A&M he’d have one, DJ Durkin as the DC should he keep that pattern.

Perhaps he’s behind the PI…

Perhaps he’s behind the PI firm and all this mess to get Harbaugh out before he makes that move? Who the hell knows?

So help us understand why,…

So help us understand why, when Day knew the signs were compromised for over a year, did they not fix that before the 2022 game, in the Horseshoe nonetheless?

I can’t disagree. Have the…

I can’t disagree. Have the reputations of any of the high profile bad actors suffered for any extended period of time? UNC, Alabama, OSU and so on?

I’d go a step further to say that the schools that do bend the knee are the ones that suffer longer in the eye of the public.

Would love to see how this plays out. Good shit Mr. Scarn! We’ll be waiting “patiently” for the fruits of your labor!

So we know it was OSU? This thread sucks. Would be fine with mods deleting this. We’d be calling for heads at OSU if this was the other way around… oh wait we’ve seen that before.

Or Frames adding a TD under…

Or Frames adding a TD under 0:30 instead of kneeling it to end the game. Could be for reps, but I don’t know if you want your QB2 on designed runs trying to score there.

I dare you to set your…

I dare you to set your expectations at a 3rd Big Ten title in a row. Then when they exceed your bleak outlook, it’ll be nothing short of the CFP title game.

I figured they’d be the more…

I figured they’d be the more conservative. They would probably rather not rush to be wrong. Safer for them to avoid the image of picking one side or the other and be wrong. If he stays they still want to have their same access and love around the building.

Curious why 57 years old is…

Curious why 57 years old is a problem. Most are upset about Harbaugh looking at NFL offers at this age and leaving us in limbo. So are we thinking we avoid that if a young coach takes over Michigan and wins like we expect?

At 57, if someone lands a job like Michigan and crushes it, pretty sure you’re more likely to have that guy around longer than a guy 45 years old (or younger). My $0.02.

Jest about every player has…

Just about every player has been posting a photo dump saying something about “Team 143  being real” and signing off for the year. Let’s hope he just forgot the Team 143 part.

Plus Stewart transferring in…

Plus Stewart transferring in for another option as well.

I'm curious why a close…

I'm curious why a close friend would constantly say all this and risk watering down any of the perceived "negotiating power."  To me it's more likely a friend says this stuff so recruits have something UM-positive to see... a small effort to try and limit some negative impact in the event that, ultimately, UM remains his destination.

Someone suggested it would…

Someone suggested it would count as a forfeit.  That's cool.  Assume a year like this year and we forfeit game 1 in the record books after winning it by 30 points on the field.

CFP Committee ranking wouldn't be impacted one bit.  I say do it and become the only undefeated 14-1 National Champion ever!

And what we’re details of…

And what we’re details of that level I violation? Just curious how they compare.

NICE!!!!  But, can I get…

NICE!!!!  But, can I get some help on the JW???

Edit:  I see Julius Welschof below... didn't see him on the site's depth chart after he went portal, I guess.

meh.... I'm sure we'll all…

Meh.... I'm sure we'll all be surprised.  Funny that folks spill on Harbaugh interest elsewhere, but they're all considerate and quiet on the splash names they "know" would be interested if Michigan called.

If it does happen, maybe there's an SEC coach that would leave if the right job opened up, and Auburn just wasn't it.  Empty the money cannon (we always assume is there) on Lane Kiffin.  I'd be willing to bet there wouldn't be some extreme talent exodus or recruiting drop off if you pull a name like that... it likely gives an immediate boost with transfers and recruits coming with.

Now, if I'd be willing to bet we could get Lane Kiffin or someone like that is a different story.
