Division 2 - Finally getting…

Division 2 - Finally getting to confront Keener

Anecdotally, my parents are…

Anecdotally, my parents are in their late 60's and have the attitude that they're going to be careful, but not stop living life, and what happens happens.

I'm guessing it's just a difference in personal outlook. They're adults. They can make their own choices. Good or bad. Given the multiple stupid activities I've seen happening amongst all generations currently (looking at you spring breakers or produce coughers), maybe it's not generational.

I was fortunate enough to…

I was fortunate enough to get to watch him in every game the last 4 years. My son graduated from Orange 2 years ago and my youngest is a freshman there now, both in the marching band. It's even more fun in person to see Zach play. And he's an incredibly humble teammate and an overall really nice kid. Doesn't give refs attitude, attentive to his coaches, incredibly focused on the field. It was sad to watch them lose this past Friday to a school from Toledo in the playoffs just because we won't get to watch him anymore on Fridays. He will be missed wherever he goes. I just hope he decides to play in Ann Arbor so I get to keep cheering for him to win every Saturday now instead.

My daughter has been wanting…

My daughter has been wanting me to take her to a game this coming season.

His high school team was really bad this season I saw him in his last game, but he got a ton of game time experience all season and is a petty good pickup.
Enrico Blasi sighting? At least I think it's him. Being the host, it wouldn't surprise me.
Preface for this: I have

Preface for this: I have lived in Columbus most of my life, and the team that solidified Michigan as "my team" wasn't football or basketball, it was hockey.  My dad used to take me to OSU/Michigan hockey games when they were in town hoping I would eventually cheer for his Buckeyes, but I couldn't take my eyes off of the likes of Botterill, Morrison, John Madden, Marty Turco, Josh Blackburn and his split M goalie pads, Mike Knuble, Legg, Wiseman, Blake Sloan (oddly one of my favorite players), Steve Shields, and David Oliver.

I also remember where I was when Morrison potted the game winner in OT against CC.  I was about 20 rows above the goal in Cincinnati because my dad finally had realized I wasn't going to cheer for his team and took my whole family to the game of a lifetime for me. The whole thing was slow motion as the puck just seemed to lay there for an eternity, and it was absolutely a home game, even if it was in Cincinnati.

I remember OSU having to rent out the fairgrounds coliseum here in town when Michigan would come to town because the horrible rink they played in couldn't hold everyone. I remember the 4 on 3 power plays because Ohio State was just so frustrated they couldn't stand it anymore, and watching our forwards pointing at the scoreboard as the hammer in the scuffle while being led off the ice to the box.

I remember visiting Yost for the first time and being in absolute awe of the people I knew had played there and who would play there in the future, as well as the many subsequent visits since then.

I have specifically loved this sport's teams from the time I was about 13 years old and love them still. I've watched so many 3-2 OT losses after waved off goals that I have PTSD whenever we have one waived off. I was there for the last NCAA tournament version of that in Ft. Wayne against Miami (NTM) with my own kids, trying to pass along this love I have. And I will be taking them again this weekend, down to Cincinnati, to hopefully have one chance this season to see what has to be one of the most dynamic players I've seen since 1996. No player since then has seemed larger than life to me until this year. I hope I get to see them play 4 more, because it may be another long time before I get to enjoy something as special as this, and I'm old enough to savor it now.

Can't push the run across

Bottom 8 0-0

Edit: ASU walk off 2 run homer. :P

You know...

We could probably grab Tressel as the AD in a package deal here.

Fergie was quite a motivator

though I think he at least partly contributed, perhaps without knowing it, to the current downfall of the club.  Winning with aging talent and not continuing to develop a solid base of youth at the same pace as the other top clubs in Europe was going to cost the club eventually.  I didn't think Moyes was the right choice at the time he got the job, but then again, he, and likely the next manager, are the sacrificial lambs to the much needed rebuilding process.

117 row U Blue pullover with maize stripes on sleeves. I see you! Go Blue!
Too many men

apparently is just a suggestion as well.  LOL

Welp

I wish that "rule" about the whistle not really counting was around in college more than a few times over the years. : P

Michigan 35 - PSU 20

Michigan 35 - PSU 20

I see both sides of this argument

but honestly, the fact that they ended up in the final pisses me off even more given that the rest of the season was a damned train wreck and tire fire all balled up into one.  This streak didn't HAVE to end this season.  Watching them play this year was infuriating because you saw the potential there, but it didn't seem like anyone in that locker room wearing a jersey gave a shit enough about one another to fulfill it.

Also...

Is that Vogrich with the "stumbling white guy dance" a couple players down from Stauskas?

Holy GOD is this team fun to watch when everything is clicking!

I'm going to stick with the general consensus in Europe

The guy deserved it.  It's bad enough watching the players on team that's up a goal stalling with the ball, but to have your grounds crew do it as well? If you want to be involved in the action, then you'd better be willing to take what's coming to you.  Plus, I'm not even sure he actually kicked him.  It looks like he pokes the ball free and it squirts out the other side.

Icky Thump or Girl, You Have No Faith In Medicine

would fit the atmosphere perfectly in Michigan Stadium, no one else plays them, it embraces the White Stripes as inherently Michigan, and would absolutely kill.

Sigh

Now is the Michigan Hockey Summer of our discontent.  Seems a little early this season.

FTR, someone over at USCHO found her

http://www.mollymcgannonphotography.com/index2.php?v=v1#/info4/

I've often wondered

if we could somehow get an interview with Molly or one of the other dancers at the time, or even the mascot, and get their perspective on the whole thing.

Right

But we're also talking about the large initial induction that would most definitely include the guys you mentioned along with other possibilities like Jenny Ritter, Kellen Russell, etc...

This

This

Does that mean that

there should be one representative yearly from Football, Basketball, Hockey, and then non-revenue sport?  Or do non-revenues not deserve to have someone inducted each year?

Agreed in part

So long as individual players from said team can also get in by themselves, for instance, Denard should get in because he's made of Dilithium and his smile is a constant stream of joy spreading rainbows.

Might want to edit that

The words are "The stars at night are big and bright."  Also, "the sage in bloom is like perfume."

Understand the meaning

of "compliance" here at Ohio

Prediction

Michigan will out-gain Alabama by 24 yards at the Jerry Dome but will lose by 10 points because of an ill-timed Robinson pick-6 late in the 3rd quarter that will shift momentum impossibly against us.

We will beat Ohio by 16 points in Columbus, and in that game, Gibbons will have 5 field goals with two matching or greater than his career long.

We have been on the other end

2002 vs. Ohio State.

nickelback

C'mon FOX! I just ATE!

Agreed

Way too Ohio slanted. They basically gloss over the utter dominance of the 1990's, there's little mention of the 97 title, and barely acknowledge the 2 Heismans and move right on into breaking down the Tressel years.

This does nothing

to allay my fears about this coming weekend.  Pass me the Maalox and hold the spicy foods for another weekend.

Completely agree

Heck, learn the whole song, verses included.  How awesome would it be to take over a stadium with an intelligent and well thought out song or chant of our own for a change.

VERSE 1:
John-nie, get your gun, get your gun, get your gun,
Take it on the run, on the run, on the run,
Hear them call-ing you and me, ev'-ry son of lib-er-ty
Hur-ry right a-way, no de-lay, go to-day
Make your Dad-dy glad to have had such a lad,
Tell your sweet-heart not to pine, to be proud her boy's in line

CHORUS:
O-ver there, o-ver there, send the word, send the word, o-ver there,
That the Yanks are com-ing, the Yanks are com-ing,
The drums rum-tum-ming ev'-ry where
So pre-pare, say a prayer, send the word, send the word to be-ware
We'll be o-ver, we're com-ing o-ver,
And we won't come back 'til it's o-ver O-ver There!

VERSE 2:
John-nie, get your gun, get your gun, get your gun,
John-nie show the Hun you're a son of a gun
Hoist the flag and let her fly, Yan-kee Doo-dle do or die
Pack your lit-tle kit, show your grit, do your bit
Yan-kees to the ranks from the towns and the tanks
Make your moth-er proud of you and the old Red White and Blue

Wow... weak... "I can get you Wow... weak... "I can get you that truck for cheap?" to Jon Gruden?
You can tell they're

You can tell they're absolutely fans, and at times they try to justify to no end, but for the most part they dish out crap to the people that should be getting it.

Gotta say

At first my reaction was "MY BRAIN IS MELTING OUT MY EAR!"  The more I look at it, though, the more it's starting to grow on me.
