I think you're right about Stauskas, Levert, and Walton, but I'm not seeing Robinson on the first team, and I can't imagine there aren't more deserving freshmen at Irvin's spot, given his spare minutes.

I don't really care about uniforms at all--I just clicked on the thread to see if everybody would get worked up over something this stupid again--but I think these are cool. Downvote away.

It might be a mistake to say he was officially expelled based on some kind of rape charge, but it's not a mistake in general. All signs point to his having raped a person.

I think of playing NCAA games on days other than Saturday as a ratings gimmick for desperate teams in shitty conferences. No thanks.

I hope you've already emailed your story to the AD. If not, please do. They need to reckon with the full effects of their screw up here.

Not sure why this post is getting pushback--I guess just the style. For what it's worth, I also thought there was at least one shot where they just slapped him in the face. I think that's the shot you've got stills of, but it's not the shot in the .gif you posted--Stauskas isn't shooting from the top of the key in the .gif, and the defender lands outside the 3 point line instead of inside it. I also seem to remember Stauskas missing the shot where I thought he got slapped, because I was mad there was no foul called.

|1 week 3 days ago||Solution||
Here's an overly complicated solution to something that shouldn't be a problem, in the spirit of MGoBlog:
Why not have a lottery that determines seating priority for anybody who arrives before the official lineup time? That eliminates the advantage of showing up earlier than 6:59 am, but still gives those people priority over those who show up at 7:01.

It was supposed to be in reply to WichitanWolverine's non-sequitor about women in the military. I have no idea if it is actually posted that way or not, because AFAIK the reply numbers are usually screwy and it's impossible to tell who you replied to if it's not directly under the thing.

Mid-career median salary for a Michigan grad is 93k. Brag about how you chose your doctor based on race again, oh myopic one.
ETA: that's from 2008. A less reliable source in 2013 says 84.2k: http://www.payscale.com/college-salary-report-2013/full-list-of-schools

Good perspective, Seth. I don't think it's useless for the OP to ask these questions--obviously there's a lot of ignorance (and misinformation) about how this is going to work out there right now. Kudos to you (and the various mods/JDs) for bringing some information to the thread.
Also, hooray for whoever starting deleting political comments. I love being proved wrong when I say the mods won't do anything.

If I weren't unbelievably lazy, I guess I would already own a dedicated backpack to use as a diaper bag when I've got the kid. Maybe I'll get around to that today...

Why are you pretending a 5'2", 130-ish pound woman is representative of all women? What do you think would happen to a 5'5" 150 pound male running back?

|3 weeks 5 days ago||On "syllogism"||
Well, RPC more or less denies knowing what "syllogism" means, though the example he presents is decent enough. The reason I think it's a misuse of the term is that a syllogism is a very particular kind of argument--the Wikipedia article does an ok job of introducing the basics--and one can beg the question without using or attempting to use syllogistic reasoning. The term does have a derivative sense in which it just means any kind of deductive reasoning, but I would be surprised if anybody who actually understands the primary meaning would use the more general one. I also think it's possible to beg the question when not engaging in deductive reasoning at all, though sometimes textbooks do characterize question-begging as putting forth a deductive argument that takes its conclusion as a premise.
