It's hilarious how…

It's hilarious how comparable this is to recent Michigan football fandom.

Michigan was great before. Michigan is less great now yet the program asks more of the fans with higher ticket prices, a higher paid coaching staff, and a generally shittier slate of games, with less wins especially against OSU. Most would not care if the team was living up to the very high expectations set by past standards, even though the team is still good by the standards of most programs

Mgoblog used to be excellent (and yes I was a lurker for years before I joined). Content has greatly declined mostly because there is less of it...even though it's still overall pretty dang good when it is there. The behavior and attitude of Brian and Ace has become worse....they are more condescending, entitled, ruder, and dismissive of others in the interactions I have seen. I also doubt people would mind as much if the content was at the same level. And I doubt they would be acting as badly had Michigan made a college playoff or won the Big Ten recently!

Everyone is entitled to their opinion and allowed to be an asshole if they choose. Ace can say whatever he wants on Twitter. He can also choose to thank or not thank anyone for donating to him. The caveat is that when you act in a way others perceive as assholeish (sure it's a word!) you have to deal with the consequences. If Ace had continued to thank people graciously when coming back, if he did not get in petty Twitter fights and blocking sprees, or did not continue to be condescending....people would probably not be questioning how he used his money. You often reap what you sow. His behavior encourages this kind of response.

My response is to say this is pathetic behavior for an adult, but fits with his past actions.

I still think it's kind of…

I still think it's kind of crazy how much crap Don Brown gets from some people around here when as far as I remember against OSU he has got it done every year except the last.

He has adjusted this year clearly (admitting he needs to adapt) but he will still be facing an excellent OSU offense with a good defense but a defense with holes. Last year no one could get pressure on Haskins who was throwing to three sub 4.45 wide receivers without Michigan having three defenders with that speed.

I'm fascinated to know if he…

I'm fascinated to know if he read my text to him. I figured he was rightfully getting a ton of shit so I tried to explain to him more softly that even if he felt that way about Bell....doesn't that come down to the coaches' decision for playing him?....and the fact that without Bell we probably wouldn't have been in the position to tie the game in the first place. I did also call him out though for embarrassing himself, the fanbase, and the University though :)

I know there is a lot of…

I know there is a lot of Patriot hate out there....but I kind of feel bad for them?

When they signed him, it seemed like he was a diva/head case, but at that point his biggest issues were yelling at his general manager, having a falling out with the Steelers, and complaining about his helmet. Bad signs, sure, but worth putting up with for his talent.

Then the day after they sign him, Pats find out about the civil case against him with obviously concerning allegations....but no criminal case or any charges so you can see understand why they didn't immediately cut him. Once this second incident came out and it was clear it was him ya gotta go.

Not many people are crying tears for the Patriots but unexpectedly tougher situation they got into than "this wide receiver is a diva". There have been plenty of diva receivers before that didn't have sexual assault included with their diva behavior.

So I am having a potentially…

So I am having a potentially serious health scare, and it was amazing to me how little I cared about Michigan football last game. I was just thinking in my head....it would be great to win but let them lose all the games if I have to so I can not have what I could possibly have. Perspective. :)

I'm happy MSU lost but yeah…

I'm happy MSU lost but yeah does not make me any more comfortable about playing them. I thought coming into the year they had a legitimate argument for best defense in the country and with a mediocre offense could win the B1G.

Hoping to see a Michigan team this Saturday that can beat MSU and ease my feelings a bit

I greatly enjoyed Ty…

I greatly enjoyed Ty Butterfield's (I think?) post using mental gymnastics with numbers to explain pre tournament how Michigan was going to win the 2013 NCAA basketball title

Oh so close.

Thing is they DIDN'T want to…

Thing is they DIDN'T want to reward terrible OOC schedules like 2016 Washington. The committee said right out that they really struggled between Washington and Michigan despite Michigan's two losses that year and the extra game played by Washington because Michigan's OOC was so impressive.

At the end of the day they used their tiebreaker of conference champion to give Washington the nod and rightfully so. Michigan would have been in the playoff if they had beaten Iowa regardless of the result against Ohio State.

Although I've tried to block…

Although I've tried to block out Saturday from my mind I'd give out some Known Friends and Trusted Agents

1-Nico Collins-two TD catches showing off his excellent body control

2-Shea Patterson-played well despite constant pressure, made some excellent throws with guys in his grill

3-Josh Ross-done thumped some people.

The Harbaugh answer would…

The Harbaugh answer would likely be because they earned it in practice. I have no clue.

I think umbig11's haters are…

I think umbig11's haters are too harsh. He has good information at times that I have enjoyed reading...

.....but if you're going to be definitive about something you better be right. Like when you tell me the night before the game that Lavert Hill IS out (no maybe, no probable) versus Indiana and he plays you lose credibility.

Did you watch last year…

Did you watch last year though? Our defense which was still great didn't let opposing offenses have the ball for very long. But eventually the defensive players got tired having to be on the field constantly which made us start giving up more yards and points late in games.

Having a competent offense has eased that burden for an even better Michigan defense this year and M's offense being good has increased that burden on opposing defenses.

I love it. It's exactly how Alabama was winning championships in the beginning of their run.

Brandy flubs calls. I don't…

Brandy flubs calls. I don't find him awful to listen to though.

I get frustrated when he fails to give me down and distance and he gets caught watching plays rather than describing them in sufficient detail.

It's not the end of the world to me when he mistakes players as long as he corrects it after the fact.

To be fair to Milton, that…

To be fair to Milton, that was also with insta pressure by the O line

Is this unprecedented? I don…

Is this unprecedented? I don't ever remember anyone turning from a cyan to a star up and definitely not in the same season.

Glad everyone else noticed this too!

Treading too close to…

Treading too close to politics because you are talking about an issue that was a voted on proposal today, election day?

Yeah definitely nowhere close to politics

Maybe this is the new way…

Maybe this is the new way Harbaugh and co. are being up front with recruits that they are not wanting anymore?

Rather than just completely ignore them hoping they decommit (bad) they say there are not enough spots at their position (better)

You're thinking about the AP…

You're thinking about the AP. The AP very rarely moves teams much after solid wins. The committee will move a team after they get credit for beating another good team.

Add this to the pile of worst posts ever.

I liken it to the 1972 Miami…

I liken it to the 1972 Miami Dolphins, who feel the need to diminish other NFL teams who achieve greatness in order to make their own team seem greater.

Marcus Ray only cares about his own legacy and by diminishing the great Michigan teams that come along (especially the defenses), it makes him seem more important.

I love me some 1997 Michigan defense, but Ray is a prick.

Just ask Zach Smith to send…

Edit: Well crap. Love when you make the same Zach Smith joke as someone that you didn't see because it's on the next page.

Since I cannot figure out…

Since I cannot figure out how to find my old mgoboard posts (help please?) I will say it again here.

I told my wife about Wife Day three years ago. Big mistake. She invited her mother and sister over for the weekend.

Her family is big Michigan State fans. I met my wife about 9 years ago. Perfect timing to start being around State fans. Her mom is practically in love with Kirk Cousins. Oh and just for good measure their second favorite team is Notre Dame. Her grandfather sent me a Michigan fail collage with a 2 out of 10 wins ain't bad! message, calling Harbaugh a million dollar con man, a cartoon comparing him to a horse's ass, and more unflattering images. When Michigan fumbled and MSU scored the TD in the game, sister in law texted me two laughing face emojis (she received a "suck it" reply after the game).

Wife, sister in law, and mother in law are going to go out for a girly day getting manicure/pedicure, going out to eat and drink margaritas, and going to see a chick flick. I get to go work in the early morning and then come home and have to watch my 2 year old all day (which I already do 5 days a week in the daytime). I will be expected to clean up the house and vacuum before they arrive and be a host/servant while they are here. I also have to do all the yard work that I would normally be doing....

...and I can at least do it with a smile on my face because Michigan beat Michigan State.

I'd argue the question needs…

I'd argue the question needs a little refinement.

I am guessing you mean something like...

1. Beat Penn State, Rutgers, and Indiana, lose to Ohio State and win the B1G championship since Ohio State loses another game and the head to head doesn't matter, and make the CFP because of our tough schedule with quality wins.

2. Lose to Penn State, beat Rutgers, Indiana, and Ohio State...then lose or not make B1G championship game?

That's a tough one. It would be really nice to call ourselves B1G champions again, but going 2-1 against rivals is pretty great too. If you're adding in a national championship win I'm going with that one for sure.

Remember one of the other Harbaugh knocks is "he has never won anything". Super bowl runner up and no national championships. A B1G championship takes that one away.

Don't tell your wife about…

Don't tell your wife about Wife Day. She's been looking forward to it.

She invited her sister and mother, who by the way are huge Michigan State fans (her mom practically worships Kirk Cousins) over for the weekend. They are going to be getting their nails done, shopping, seeing a chick flick, and going out to eat while I get to watch my 2 year old at home, which I already do 5 days a week during the day before working in the evenings.

This is awful. Poor guy. The quick change to life must be jarring when you have presumably worked very hard on this one activity for years and done it successfully. Never wish medical retirements on anyone.

Hot Take (guess?): We haven…

Hot Take (guess?): We haven't had a quarterback as good as Shea Patterson at Michigan since Chad Henne.

He lacks Denard Robinson's elite running ability but can throw. He will be as good as Speight throwing the ball but can run. I'm thinking faster Jake Rudock.

Shea Patterson and an improved offensive line and an elite level defense even better than the unit last year?! Road travel games are overrated. Harder yes, but not insurmountable. Remember that monster schedule Michigan State had a few years ago and they survived and won the B1G? That's us this year.

This is a team with a schedule so hard that two losses if they are to the right teams could still qualify for the playoffs. People still don't get the CFP REALLY rewards tough schedules. With the right wins and even two losses Michigan will pass pretender teams with one loss.

Worst story ever? I mean…

Worst story ever? I mean...the hell am I reading?

I get being negative about the conference. All the issues are very upsetting. But the team? A disappointing 9-3 with one of the toughest schedules in the country means we beat two out of Penn State, Wisconsin, Michigan State, Ohio State and Notre Dame and won all the other games. And that's the bad end of expectations? We aren't who you think we are. Do you not remember the recent times where we could barely beat awful teams like Connecticut or Illinois?

The question about Durkin is a catch 22. If he says No, Coach Durkin never exhibited troublesome signs then he looks like an ignorant idiot or is calling Peppers a liar. If he says Yes then why the hell would he have been employing him?

As a fan of a franchise who

As a fan of a franchise who did not understand what a "down year" or "down period" is until we REALLY experienced it, this might be the most ridiculous instance of a manager being pressured to resign.

Auburn got rid of Gene Chizik two seasons after winning the national championship. However, he did have a really bad season in there.

I know you said American but....Leicester City fired Ranieri months after winning the Premier League.

Cannot really think of too many more

Nice things and having them!

Nice things and having them!

That's why you have NBA

That's why you have NBA scouts. Scouts will tell players coming out of high school the reality that they will not be starting or even playing at their current talent level and could use more seasoning in college.

The hurry is if you want to do something and are qualified and capable of doing something....why arbitrarily wait to do that thing? Especially when this could be your livelihood.

I would be absolutely shocked

I would be absolutely shocked if he was not killed in prison. My friend went to jail for three years for statutory rape (he 100% deserved this) and when someone found out that he had some kind of sex crime with a minor without knowing the slightly mitigating details of it being consensual he knocked out my friend with a punch from behind.

A lot of people are going to know who Nassar is. I don't like his survival chances.

I'm so fucking sick of

I'm so fucking sick of threads like this.

I liked the movie overall but

I liked the movie overall but it was too long.

I liked the "ticking clock" they set up with the cruiser slowly running out of fuel trying to escape the star destroyers and liked the mutiny that happened.

I liked the lesson Poe learned about not going on crazy missions which will result in a bunch of death.

I loved Luke almost killing Kylo Ren in his sleep and the dual perspectives of the two on the event.

I loved the Kylo Ren and Rey force connection conversations.

I loved when Snoke was on screen in all the throne room scenes but absolutely hated how we never found out who the hell he is and where he came from. (Friend brought up the insane theory that maybe he's so powerful with the dark side he can reform himself which is why his head was partially split open and jaw all messed up.. so he's still alive)

I hated the casino side mission that ended in failure and betrayal anyways.

I hated Luke dying through....overuse of the force or something?? Choosing to?

I loved seeing and hearing original puppet Yoda, but very much disliked the idea that in death he could make lightning strike down from the sky.

I hated BB-8 saving the day with the AT-ST. Same problem I had with Rogue One. If droids are such great assets in fighting why not use them instead of people.

I thought Carrie Fisher was a much better actor in this one than Force Awakens though I hated Leia's force flying through space to save her own life.

I didn't hate all the comedy but I hated when the comedy happened during either serious moments or badass moments.

I was disappointed for the first time in a main Star Wars movie no real lightsaber duel unless you count Luke vs Rey with sticks or Luke and Kylo's lightsabers touching in the flashback.

Second toilet? Hell no. A

Second toilet? Hell no. A door to the one stall we have?.....we will think about it

It's killing me to say but I

It's killing me to say but I am not even going to watch this game if O'Korn is the starter. I know Peters is out of the concussion protocol but that doesn't necessarily mean he's starting and still is there any real reason to hope he won't get crushed again by Ohio State's D Line who will be smelling blood?

Maybe this will finally be the game where Michigan gets all the turnover luck and gets a couple pick sixes, which isn't impossible given Barrett's shakiness at times and Michigan's solid pass coverage. More likely OSU will grind it out on the ground until Michigan's defense breaks from exhaustion because the offense can never stay on the field.

It kills me to be this guy

It kills me to be this guy now because I was that person who would watch a ton of college football a year and literally every bowl game humanly possible live (conflicting games at the same time and all)....and of course every Michigan game

Michigan games were a non negotiable 3 hours of non interruption. I then started to let my wife plan family parties or up north trips during the Michigan season with the stipulation that I would get to watch the game for three hours. We have fought about this when up north didn't have live TV or she took me to a restaurant that was not open for the entire time of the game with a casino nearby.

I'm slowly slipping. I've missed parts of Michigan games to see my niece and nephew's soccer games, scheduled work when I know it means I will miss a half of football, listened to one of the games on the radio, and attended other events where my enjoyment of the game will be lessened.

The Ohio State game last year may have broken me a little. I did not go to a party my cousin was having because I was going to be miserable. Just not worth it to get that worked up over sports.

What are you talking

What are you talking about?

Ohio State beat Penn State (AKA somebody!) and is overall 7-2. They aren't getting severely punished because their losses are to Oklahoma (top 10 who may not be as good as ranking but they are a brand name program who has only lost once to a not bad team)

...and Iowa is a team with two good wins (OSU and Iowa State) without a bad loss (Penn State by 2, Michigan State by 7, Northwestern by 7).

Michigan hasn't beaten a team that is even bowl eligible! And even if it was close with Iowa and Michigan they would look at common opponents and say well Penn State kicked the shit out of Michigan and Iowa lost to them by 2. Michigan State would be dead even for both teams and we obviously didn't play Northwestern.

I just watch with pure

I just watch with pure jealousy the amount of time JT Barrett gets in the pocket to throw the football....and he still throws four picks. I dream of a day when a seasoned Michigan QB under Harbaugh has that kind of time.

I feel like I'm not reading

I feel like I'm not reading the tiebreakers wrong.

It looks to me like it says if there is a tie we go to the result of the head to head winner, which means MSU>UM, MSU>PSU, PSU>UM, OSU>MSU, OSU>PSU, UM>OSU. There is no clear head to head winner with a four way tie using that criteria.

So tiebreaker number one says specifically overall record should be compared.

Michigan would be 10-2, OSU would be 9-3, Michigan State would be 9-3, Penn State would be 9-3. Tiebreaker done without going to the next step looking at division record, which would be unfavorable to Michigan.

Right? I know it's still highly unlikely but it would be a real nice feeling to control our destiny if Ohio State beats Michigan State next week.

I obviously want Michigan to

I obviously want Michigan to go with the best option to win games. O'Korn vs Peters was special circumstances because O'Korn could not conceivably be worse and then you might as well go with the guy with a future in the program next year and after.

I would feel slightly bad for Speight because it's not his fault the offensive line blocked terribly early in the year. We have seen Speight be very good when not hurt or had some form of protection/trust in his O line.

I trust in Harbaugh but I think you stick with Peters if he keeps playing well.

4-8 Notre Dame still in the

4-8 Notre Dame still in the playoff race a season later....and our fanbase is bitching about likely finishing 8-4 with a ton of great talent who just need some seasoning (exactly like Notre Dame last year)

Mock before being

Mock others before being legitimately lambasted for being a rape enabler I guess?

....I'm embarrassed that at one point in time if Michigan couldn't win the Big Ten in a year I was rooting for Penn State to win. Never again.

Pedal bike car through Ann

Pedal bike car through Ann Arbor tonight...after I fix the lawn entirely. Aerated this morning, needing to add top soil, seed, fertilizer, and milorganite this afternoon.....then trimming the day lillies and hastas for the winter when the toddler I am watching all day has a nap.

I mean, I'd argue I deserve a bang or two.
