Then the prevailing attitude where you were at is nonsense. Seriously, why wouldn't you want to have the greatest regular season of all time AND win the championship? Those two aren't mutually exclusive. If they were I would definitely agree with you.

I am also surprised at any Golden State dislike. Curry and Thompson are both very likeable to me. I don't see them bragging about being the best or being the champs or anything like that. You almost forget that they won it all last year. The "just a 3 point shooter" tag some have tried to offer up does not apply to either of them. The whole team plays unselfish basketball and good defense. I find myself really appreciating bench guys like Shaun Livingston and Mo Speights. Steve Kerr is great too. Draymond Green is the only player I could see some disliking but even he isn't so bad...especially for a Sparty.
Nothing is for sure, but I like the Warriors chances to get the record. They also are getting Andre Iguodala back by the playoffs which could be huge if only for his Lebron defense assuming they both make it that far. It's very hard to see the Warriors losing 4 out of 7 games to a team especially when one of those will have to be at their place.

I have some surprisingly great hops (probably two platforms less than Devin) but I'm jealous of DPJ making that height look so easy. Hope that's a good sign those two are hanging out!
After last year, I still am not understanding why we are not having our pick of the litter on TEs unless it's geographical reasons. How could you not want to play in the Harbaughfense from that position (or fullback too)?

That came up at trivia last week! "What actor who starred in one sitcom that ran for over 250 episodes and another that ran over 150 episodes was once drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers?"
As a bonus, when revealing the answer the trivia guy said he scored four touchdowns in a single game for Polk High

I've had more heroic sporting moments but for most memorable...
6th grade basketball we were playing our second game against a team that we had lost to badly the first time. They had one kid who was way above average for that age.
It was late in the game we had a three point lead and then they scored to cut it to one with about 30 seconds left. My dad, who is the coach, calls a time out and talks it over with us. He says okay, I've saved a lot of timeouts so if you get in trouble just call one. Otherwise just dribble it past half court and pass it around and let the clock wind down. Whatever you do, don't shoot and don't foul.
Our point guard dribbles it up court taking it slowly past half court. He passes to the other guard who passes it to one of our forwards, my best friend. Since the other team was going for the ball, he is wide open with tons of space. He decides to shoot with fifteen seconds left. He misses. The other team rebounds it and passes it to their best player who dribbles it up court and my best friend, the one who took the shot, fouls him. My dad is just beside himself, complete wtf face.
Two foul shots for them one point down best player at the line. First shot is up, hits the back of the rim and rolls off. Second shot up, same exact thing, slowly rolls off the back of the rim. We get the rebound and win the game. Drove my best friend home after the game and we had a good time giving him crap over his "Don't Shoot, Don't Foul" crimes, especially since we still won.

I like comedy podcasts when I'm doing something tedious like computer work or working out.
I enjoy How Did This Get Made where they talk through badly made or unusual movies.
The Andy Daly Podcast Pilot Project is also hilarious though there's only eight episodes. Andy Daly and crew pretend to be other characters submitting ridiculous podcast pilots to be picked up for a full run.
My friend just recommended the Blacktapes Podcast which goes over this guy's attempt to debunk unexplained mysteries (basically the X Files?)

I absolutely love these games. Even the "crappy" bowls that most people do not care about. This has been only an okay bowl season, but honestly I think that's because the higher profile matchups have not been all that interesting.
Besides the CFP games and Michigan vs. Florida of course, I was really interested in Ohio State vs. Notre Dame, Wisconsin vs. USC, Utah vs. BYU, Appalachian State vs. Ohio, Boise State vs. Northern Illinois, Nebraska vs. UCLA, Navy vs. Pittsburgh, Baylor vs. North Carolina, Houston vs. Florida State, Stanford vs. Iowa, Oregon vs. TCU.
That's 15 games out of 40? Something like that. And some of those include my personal non Michigan favorite teams like Navy and Boise State. Games like Nebraska vs. UCLA and Wisconsin vs. USC aren't that thrilling with this year's teams but more based on historical importance. Similar to why I'm not excited to see Penn State vs. Georgia. Even Oregon vs. TCU which should have been a fun and interesting game has lost its luster with Boykin out.
Both CFP games were over by the early second half and all five games on New Year's Day were routs (though Notre Dame hung with OSU for a long time). That takes out a good chunk of enjoyment from the bowl games that seem to be more important....like the perception of winning the Rose Bowl over the San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl. Early games were still very solid though!

Can you ever not have a condescending comment about other people's opinions? You make my mgoblog experience more unpleasant almost every time.
I do not care much about basketball but I think a lot of people were hoping that we were going to parlay a national championship game and elite 8 appearance in back to back years into being one of the top programs in the country.
Instead, albeit early, it's looking like a decent possibility that this team misses the tournament for a second straight year. That just does not happen to the good to great programs in the country.

Disappointed he's gone but I think it would have been really difficult for him to win the QB job here and do not blame him for looking for a better opportunity somewhere else.

Alright, I admit. I watched a Netlfix documentary on quidditch and thought it actually looked fun. I mean....yes nerdy as shit but I'm all for playing any sport.
It would help if the whole Harry Potter thing was not attached to it but for the actual game they improved on the rules from the books (like catching a seeker is not worth a bajillion points). Worth a watch if you're bored!
|25 weeks 3 days ago||Yep, Notre Dame maybe SHOULD||
Yep, Notre Dame maybe SHOULD have won. The problem is, they didn't win. Just like we should have beaten MSU but did not. Turnovers, fucking up special teams, and coaching decisions are all part of the game and affect the final result.
This is why I like the committee and was happy with their choices at the end of the year last year. Conference championships matter. Wins and losses matter despite who on paper is better. 13 games played and 1 loss is better than 12 games played and 1 loss. SOS matters.
I sort of don't see how Notre Dame gets in unless you're picking 1 loss Notre Dame vs. 1 loss Big 12 champion. I guess we will see though how much credit they get for having a rough schedule.

It looked like he was actually trying to make some cuts rather than barrel into a pile of bodies. Hard to say if that was againt a NW team that had half packed it in though.

Peters looks excellent except for the whole stare down his receivers thing that almost every HS QB ever does.

For a team that is in recent history lost to Appalachian State and nearly lost to Akron (and Connecticut) when they were terrible, I do not think I will ever look past an opponent again.
When BYU does come around I am hoping that by battle tested they will also be beaten down a bit.

I married a MIchigan State fan.
I still think Brady Hoke is a good guy despite not showing human emotion in most interviews.
I own a red and gray polo shirt.
I bought my Woodson jersey on a Chinese website that has now been shut down by the U.S. government.
I believe Devin Gardner was shell shocked and unfixable last year (too many hits from the previous year) without an elite offensive line.

Traverse City is also an excellent choice if you are into wine tasting.

I was weirdly loyal to the Foxsports website a few years back. I left because I could no longer take the constant terribleness of Jason Whitlock (and Mark Kriegel)
Even worse, he relished upsetting people because he thought he must be writing good articles because it upset people...when in fact it was because his logic and reasoning were horribly flawed.
His success really has bothered me so I'm glad he's knocked down a peg.

The perpetual argument and disagreement that I think I will always have with this site is the glory of the Rich Rod offense.
It absolutely melts bad defensive units, usually beats mediocre defenses, and can't get the job done against the elite ones. Rodriguez's last year at Michigan made that clear to me and I keep following his teams every year hoping to eventually be proven wrong.
The Pac 12 was a good place to hide from elite D's last year. Oregon was the best defense Arizona played at rank 31....and yes the Wildcats won the first round by a touchdown but Oregon had a bunch of injuries that game. Arizona also got crushed by them only scoring 13 points in the rematch.
Many were lamenting that we didn't keep Rich Rod after that Oregon win, yet Michigan had to play Minnesota 34th, Penn State 7th, Michigan State 22nd, and Ohio State 26th ranked defenses. I doubt he would have had any more success than he did when he was here when he played against the really good units.
A good team does not necessarily a great defense make and that's in my eyes where the stats go wrong. He could face a top 10 team with another great offense and bad defense and have great success scoring against them. Opponent adjusted...this would look very good but be misleading when talking about the offense vs. good defenses.

The lack of pro style QBs is something I've thought about in the last few drafts. I think it's one of those issues that not enough people see yet but will be a big deal in a few years if spread QBs continue to disappoint in the NFL.
Although many spread QBs have had limited success in the pros I don't think it's enough yet to say clear cut that if you want to be an NFL QB then you need to learn a pro style system in college.
If it does get to that point though it will be interesting to see if it has an impact on recruiting or a shift back to more pro style offenses in college to attract QBs by saying "come to School X, we teach you how to be in the NFL"

Ace, I appreciate your work on this site, but you have this atrocious way of wording valid points that makes you sound like you are talking from on top a pedestal down to us plebes and drives me crazy.
I stayed away from the Hello post because I knew what was coming. Carter is a commit to the University of Michigan and should be celebrated because he is joining my favorite team in all of sports. I always love the idea of legacy recruits too.
...but it's very understandable to question the offer and his abilities based on what we've seen so far (AKA nothing) when it seems Michigan has a lot of interest from highly rated prospects.
People should speak with tact but should not feel the need to hold back on a worthy point....and it does not matter who is reading/listening. You yourself said you have no idea what to expect from him in your hello post. How many times has that happened before? People should not be villified for questioning any of this.
In the end, I hope and have complete faith Dunaway gets a fuel lit under him to work harder than ever to prove that he was worthy of the offer...especially since his family knows the Michigan way.

I am reserving judgment for now. I saw the Avengers 2 teaser and thought that it was going to be terrible before seeing the actual trailer which completely turned my opinion around.
I grew up on watching the classic Justice League cartoons and also really enjoyed the new Justice League cartoon as an adult so I want them to get this right. It's hard to have high hopes for Zach Snyder and Jesse Eisenberg though who are two people I find very overrated.

This post will probably be buried and I'm wasting my typing but...
Right when the major criticism of Brandon started I got to hear plenty of interesting things from the Brandon camp from my friend who works with one of Brandon's best friends and was a former UM football player in the early 1970's.
Brandon blamed everything on the board of regents and said it was divided based on party lines. He was especially critical of Denise Ilitch and Mark Bernstein. Brandon said Ilitch did things to thwart the positive actions he was trying to take for the university. For example, (and forgive me that I forget the exact details now) Brandon wanted to hold some sort of fundraiser I think in the Big House and have all the profits go to something specific for the school. Instead, Ilitch changed it so that it was about selling her jewelry and took a large cut of the profits from the event.
Brandon said this was a constant problem and wished that people understood that it's not him who is doing many of the things he was criticized for.
Even better....after the famous emails were reported, President Schlissel came into Dave's office and very directly said I want your resignation letter on my desk by this afternoon.
My friend didn't want me saying anything at the time but I figured enough time has passed that it's okay now. It's at least interesting to hear how Brandon defended himself.

The Daily Show was my favorite show for a good length of time. Then Steve Carell left, then Colbert left, then Ed Helms was gone, then Rob Corddry (or something similar) and while there were plenty of good correspondents after, they never got to the same level.
For me, Jon Stewart has a great delivery but to me was never really the main comedy of the show. It was harder to watch when he became more activist and preachy with his show rather than a satirist. I agreed with him a lot but it was uncomfortable when he became a flat out jerk to his guests he disagreed with which he did more and more over the years. Still, it will be tough to find someone who can replace him.
