Big Red pop

I travel to San Antonio a lot and I drink a lot of Big Red when I'm there. Why? Because to me it tastes like Faygo Red Pop, and I like Faygo Red Pop.

Go Blue!!!

Driving up from Stafford, VA, Friday; game on Saturday; return drive Sunday. Rain or shine, this family of three will be there. Would've been a fourth family member, but she's on campus at Michigan Tech and school stuff prevents her from traveling.

Go Blue!!! (and Huskies, too!!!)

The Blue Bloods shoutout is because Greg Jbara, who plays DPCI Garrett Moore, is a Michigan alum. On his FB feed he told us to expect something along this line prior to the show airing.

He's very proud of his Michigan roots (the state and the school), having grown up in Westland. He routinely does shoutouts on social media for UM- and Detroit-related events.

Go Blue!!!

Did anyone else notice they

Did anyone else notice they have two sets of "quarter"backs?

As in they have Quarterback (I) and One-fourth Back (K).

Last time I checked .25 is the same as 1/4.

Me thinks they're trying to pull a fast one on us.

Go Blue!!!

As a great philosopher once said

"Girl you ain't much fun since I quit drinkin'" -- Toby Keith

I've apparently had more than I remembered ...

At 16-months-old, drowned in the channel leading to Long Lake (Alpena). Of course, I don't remember it, but as told by my father and life-savers, I was not breathing and was completely limp. A couple neighbors who just happened to be walking back from the lake at that moment (thank you!), knew and started CPR (this is the Spring of '70, so it wasn't widely taught like now). Continued CPR until amublance showed up, resucitated me, and I went on to survive other death defying moments like ...

When I was about four-years-old and fell on a fireplace mantle, with the corner of the brick piercing my temple, thus causing me to bleed quite profusely. Mom and Aunt rushed me to the ER. End up with stitches and the Doc estimating less than 1/16" further would've killed me. Never really knew if all the stories of "temple puncturing can lead to death" are true or not.

The time my older brother's best friend pointed and pulled the trigger on a home-made (kit) black powder pistol (picture Revolutionary War style pistols) at my chest from about three feet away. He didn't remember it was loaded and capped ... until he cocked and dropped the hammer again a few seconds later; this time at the open field behind us. BOOM ... holy shit dude! WTF!

As a dumb 16-year-old, I had a stomach ache for about 5 days or so. Put up with it, figuring, like others have mentioned, it would pass with time. Traveled from the Keweenaw/Copper Country area back to Metro Detroit with said "stomach ache". Two days later, my dad rushes me to the ER, where they discover and are amazed that my appendix was about to burst. The family doctor (yes, we had one back then) was in total shock that it hadn't ruptured and by the size of it when extracted. I ended up with a 7-8" scar on my stomach because of it.

I've been in roll-over accidents, been barely missed by drunk drivers (hitting other vehicles in front of and behind mine), violent storms (hurricanes, tornadoes, & typhoons), and more. I guess I've been lucky and should count my blessings more often, eh?

If nothing else, Go Blue!!!

As a graduate of Wayne Memorial ('87), I second that nomination.

Parks & Rec Reference

In at least a couple episodes, Poehler's character had a can of Vernor's on her desk or in her hand. Certainly must have been a Michigan connection on that show.

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow ...

Being from the metro-Detroit area, with stints in the UP, and now living in Stafford, VA, personally I can't wait for the snow. My co-workers, knowing I'm from Michigan, keep asking, "bet you're looking forward to this, aren't you?!" To which I reply, "No matter how much, it won't be enough!" Go Blue!!!

Probably not the only one, but ...

@Moisturize -- BLUF: Bolden had no chance to catch and prevent himself from landing on Cook because of Conklin's push and Morgan knocking his arm away.

If you watch the clip again, you'll see that as Bolden is going to the ground, after Conklin PUSHES him, Bolden's left arm is swiped by Morgan going by; thus, he us unable to extend his arm and prevent himself from landing on, or minimizing contact with, Cook.

I reviewed it several times after reading your post and I don't see the plausibility of Conklin's "substantial right-arm force" AWAY from Cook. He quite literally was pushing Bolden to the right; arguably, he didn't care that Cook was there -- Conklin was determined to win this blocking battle. And the force of the push was to Conklin's right ... where Cook was sliding. It certainly wasn't AWAY from Cook ... it was toward him.

Being pushed like that by a O-lineman alone should eliminate "intent"; add the fact that Bolden is now "defenseless" because Morgan (unintentionally) knocked his left arm away creates a second reason to eliminate "intent". Thus, the rule of "when in doubt" is reduced to "there is no doubt"; Bolden did NOT intend to target Cook.

When in doubt, Go Blue!!!

Little Mom & Pop place in the U.P.

Cozy Inn, Nestoria, MI -- located on US41 just west of Three Lakes. Mmmm .... good!

Oh, and the Drive In in Baraga has the best Pizza Burger. It's made with Cudighi, stuffed with moz and sauce.

Official Maize ...

I'm curious to know the source of the "Official Maize" in the poll; because, as user Rasmus ponted out, the school officially lists:

R255/G204/B51 // Hex FFCC33 // Pantone 7406C (dark Maize)

R246/G213/B101 // Hex F6D565 (light Maize)

Link: https://vpcomm.umich.edu/brand/style-guide/design-principles/colors

I like, and chose, FFCB05, but FFCB19 is closer (by RGB settings) to what the school says is the official Maize.

Does the Athletic Department, or football in particular, have different standards than the rest of the university?

Just curious ... Go Blue!!!

My oldest daughter has a common name with a unique spelling. It was tweaked to include my wife's maiden name. My youngest has a very common, not so unique name, but the nickname/shortened version throws everyone for a loop. They want to add letters to the short version. Don't know why it's so difficult, it removes three letters ... why add letters when you're trying to shorten it?!

My childhood best friend named his daughter Hailey Victoria -- best part was his in-laws are from the worst state ever, and when the daughter was born and the name revealed, the mother-in-law loved the name ... until she asked how they came up with it. After that it was, "the dumbest thing" she had ever heard.

Oh, and for good measure, I have a female dog named Maizey Blue. She's a shithead, but other than that she's a good dog.

Making the drive from

Stafford, Virginia, Friday. I've seen on the mgoblue.com pages (http://www.mgoblue.com/sports/m-footbl/spec-rel/fbl-spring-game-2015.ht…) that Pioneer will be open for parking @ $20 for cars/$50 for RVs. The question is, will there be any shuttles running, like from Briarwood or anywhere else? I realize this is the Spring game, so chances are low -- it's not a season game after all -- but I am still curious. Thanks -- Go Blue!!!

Green's VA H.S. competition

Living not too far north of Richmond, VA, I have some perspective -- albeit minor. I only paid attention 'cause the H.S. my kids go to is in the same playoff division. Green's school played (exceptionally) well against league opponents. Yes, they pretty much blew out the competition, with their only loss this season coming to LC Bird H.S. by a score of 24-20 in the opening round of the playoffs(LC Bird went on to be state champs in their division) . Green had two rushing TDs in the game, on 19 carries for 79 yds. In the end, Hermitage was #9 in Virginia, five spots ahead of CD Hylton -- and former UM recruit EJ Levenberry. I can't speak to any history of the Hermitage program.
