I remember when they said Tim Hiller was the greatest QB ever 2 years ago.  We saw how that turned out in the opener...

1 year 40 weeks ago Time will tell

We won't truly know how Michigan's offense will look under Hoke/Borges from a long term perspective until Shane Morris is under center.  Until then, the coaching staff will use the strenghts of Robinson and Gardner to dictate the play calling.  This won't be a complete disaster like 2008 all over again.

1 year 51 weeks ago Nothing but a marketing campaign to sell jerseys. Disgusting!

What is wrong with this uniform?

2 years 3 weeks ago Darius to the NBA this year

I think Morris is a great college player for Michigan and I hope he is successful if leaves for the NBA this year.  However, it is clear (I'm not a NBA scout obviously) that his game has a lot of room for improvement and he probably could use another 2 seasons in college to get him ready. I just don't see how a PG that can't drive to his left or shoot with any consistency can compete on a nightly basis with other PG like Derrick Rose, Russell Westbrook, or Chris Paul.

At the same time, it is a historically weak draft and I can't blame him if the money is waiting for him.

2 years 10 weeks ago big game

I hope all of the Michigan fans attending the game tomorrow bring their A game.  I know I am  attending a football esque tailgate tomorrow, let's make Crisler loud like it's 1993.

2 years 12 weeks ago Rebounding

I love Novak and everything he brings each night, but he is asked to do way too much down low.  Novak has huge testicles, but Michigan got killed on the boards and it was making me crazy watching Wisconsin get offensive rebound after offensive rebound.  This team will not take the next step until they get a true physical power forward down low that does not have a physical disadvantage to do all of the dirty work needed to win.

Morgan is developing into a really nice player and I think he still has a huge upside.  However, he seems to make an extra unecessary move at times when he gets the ball in a good position to score.  He did that a couple of times tonight.

Even with a loss, Michigan is a fun team to watch and I think this has been Beilein's best coaching job at Michigan so far.

2 years 16 weeks ago Qb depth

I support the decision that he wants to transfer, but I found the press release to be very strange. Let's hope denard and devin will stay healthy, the QB position will be 1 injury away from a walk-on if either player gets hurt.

2 years 18 weeks ago Bill Martin

You really miss Bill Martin...wow! Rich Rod is not the Michigan coach and he should have been fired the day after the OSU game, I just don't understand how people can still defend a Coach that won 6 big ten games in 3 seasons at Michigan? That wouldn't be acceptable at Purdue!

I think it is time for all of the Rodriguez apologists to realize that Day 1 of the restoration of Michigan football began today and the program is finally in good hands once again. Today is a great day! Go Blue!

2 years 19 weeks ago 2nd choice

If Harbaugh falls through, I think the focus should shift to Lloyd Brady as the next head coach!

2 years 19 weeks ago It was an accident

I have no idea how that happened, it must be a omen from the recruiting gods.

2 years 19 weeks ago You are missing the point

I was simply trying to point out that there are still a small minority of Michigan fans out there that still want to see Coach Rodriguez lead the team out of the tunnel in 2011.  I believe that small minority of fans are failing to look at the big picture and are in denial.  We all know fan is short for fanatic.  Therefore,  I think every fan in any sport for any team has an element of blind faith when it comes to who they root for.  Following the Wisconsin game, I finally reached my breaking point as a Michigan fan and was able to look at the current state of Michigan football objectively.  Those fans that have not reached their breaking point with this regime are looking at the situation with their beer goggles on.  That is all I was trying to point out and I just can't figure out how that is insane or unreasonable?

2 years 19 weeks ago You must be confused...

"Butt F..ing magic" is the act that you do with your buddies when you guys are sitting around listening to Josh Groban and has nothing to with anything I wrote.   You are mad, calm down sir!  The sun is gonna come up in the morning.

2 years 19 weeks ago I don't think the words

I don't think the words "Blind Faith" and "magic" are dramatic at all relative to the opinion that Michigan was going to suddenly play well in the bowl game after the dismal performances against Wisconsin and OSU.  I don't care how much time there was between games.  Besides Mike Martin, the 2010 defense lacked blue chip future NFL talent across the board.  To improve the defense, Michigan is gonna have to recruit high level talent once again on that side of the ball to establish quality depth.  That must be the number 1 priortiy of the next head coach.  Therefore, the words "blind faith" and "magic" were accurate descriptions of fans that believed they were gonna play better due to the awarded extra practices.

2 years 19 weeks ago your welcome

First of all, I don't think that there is anything wrong with venting my frustrations on the current state of Michigan football and stating the obvious (horrible defense).  Secondly, I do think Bill Martin was a great AD from the business end. However, he screwed up the football coaching search three years ago and may have hired 2 below average men's basketball coaches (the jury is still out on Beilein).  Ultimately, his legacy as AD will be devided into two categories:

1.  Hiring Rodriguez, Amaker, and Beilein.

2.  Rennovating Michigan Stadium and pulling the Athletic department out of the red.

Finally, accusing me of stereotyping the Michiagn offense is a little dramatic. I think it is healthy for people to have a variety of opinons and not to be so sensative.

2 years 19 weeks ago Blind Faith

Through blind faith, a lot of my fellow Michigan fans believed that this team was going to magically get better over the last 5 weeks. Well, this team somehow got worse! I hope all of the remaining Rich Rod supporters finally had their rude awakening yesterday and will use common sense to realize that this brand of football will never work at Michigan.  Horrible defense, horrible special teams, and a cute offense that turns the ball over and is only good between the 20's will never be a recipe to win football games.  The program hit rock bottom yesterday and I hope the right man will be hired to take Michigan Football back to the mountain top.  I firmly believe that Dave Brandon will get his man and will not be on a sailboat in the Florida keys during the most important week of his career like the previous AD!

2 years 22 weeks ago The Stagg-Paterno Championship trophy??

Paterno's longevity and record  is amazing, but most of his success happened before Penn State entered the Big 10.  He has only won 3 big ten championships and 2 of them were shared.  The historical indenity of the Big 10 has nothing to do with Penn State or Paterno.  It makes no sense at all!

Stagg is a legend, but he only won 7 big ten championships for a school that left the Big 10 in 1946.    Yost won 10 during the same era!  His name belongs on there before Stagg!

I understand that the coach of the year trophy is called the "Shembechler-Hayes" trophy, but that should be the name of the championship trophy! They made the Big 10 special in the modern era, not Stagg or Paterno.   Bo and Woody combined for 26 Big 10 Championships (13 each).  All they did was win Big 10 championships, shouldn't that be reflected on the Big 10 championship trophy or whould that make too much sense for Jimbo?

2 years 23 weeks ago Keep dreaming

It will be hard to make chicken salad out of chicken__ in just 3 weeks. Especially if chef Robinson doesn't even belong in the kitchen at the local Mcdonalds. I hope you are right, but it won't be that simple.

2 years 23 weeks ago Sorry to offend you.

I'm glad you took the time to find something I wrote months ago. You must really take yourself seriously. It seems that you made it a point to attack me because I think Michigan will struggle in the bowl game. However, you have not made a valid comment from an x's and o's standpoint on why Michigan will be competitive in the bowl game. Football games are not won through blind faith. Michigan has been awful under Rich Rodriguez for 3 seasons against quality opponents, it is not going to suddenly change in the next 3 weeks.

2 years 23 weeks ago I'm not proud of that post.

I was drunk and emotional that day after a tough loss. Since then, I've learned from the inspirational lyrics of Josh Groban to make myslef a better person.

2 years 23 weeks ago Defense

Coach Rod is gonna do whatever it takes to pull this game out, but I'm afraid it's not gonna be enough.  The defense and special teams will not magically get better by Jan 1st.  Michigan will move the ball between the 20's like they do against every team and rack up meaningless stats, but they will fail to score points consistently when they enter the redzone.  It is a big play or bust offense when you struggle to convert 3rd & long and when the kicking game is worse than quality high school teams.  Any football fan with common sense knows that the 2010 Michigan Wolverines play a brand of football that beats itself in all three phases of the game.  Therefore, they can't beat quality opponents.  Denard is a warrior, but he will not be able to do it alone.

Mississippi State 45-28

2 years 23 weeks ago Examples for Michigan fan that lives in IA.

Coaches that have turned national programs around in less than 3 years:

1.  Nick Saban. Alabama:  2009 BCS National Champions (3rd season)

2.  Urban Meyer.  Florida:  2006 BCS National Champions (2nd Season)

3.  Jim Tressel.  Ohio State:  2002 BCS National Champions (2nd season)

4. Bob Stoops.  Oklahoma:  2000 BCS National Champions (2nd season)

Those are just a few examples of coaches that have turned national programs around in 3 seasons or less.  Obviously, these coaches are not coming to Michigan next season, but it proves that 3 seasons can be pleanty of time to at least show that a big time program is heading in the right direction.  Michigan's performance against quality competition this season shows no signs of improvement at all.  I agree,  hiring a new coach does not gurantee anything, but Michigan cannot sit back and hope that Coach Rodriguez is gonna turn it around.  The defense is young, but there is also a lack of blue chip talent. Mike Martin is only player on the defense that is a lock to have a future in the NFL.  I don't know how we are watching the same team every saturday?  Maybe all of that corn is clouding your judgement.

2 years 23 weeks ago Why does he deserve anything?

Since you are so enthusiastic about keeping Coach Rodriguez, I'm sure you can show evidence supporting your argument that the rest of the world is missing.  Can you please enlighten us on why he should stay? Is it the pathetic special teams, the swiss cheese defense, or the statistically fraudulent offense?  I am dying to know!

2 years 23 weeks ago Program in Limbo

I fully understand why Brandon is waiting until Jan. 1st to fire Coach Rodriguez. He will be saving a lot of money for the University and he is handling the coaching search with patience.  However, he is driving a sword in the heart (no pun intended) of the 2011 recruiting class. Ultimately, I believe Brandon is doing the right thing for the big picture of Michigan football, but it comes at a price.

2 years 25 weeks ago The Big Game has been taken away from us!

It hurts that Michigan has not beaten OSU since 2003!  It hurts that Tressel is 8-1! It hurts that Michigan has the worst defense I have ever seen in any sport relative to the competion!  However, nothing hurts more than the fact that this week feels like an oridanry week.  There is no hype, excitement, or possibility of a Michigan win.  The big question going into the game is whether Coach Rodriguez will surive and not whether Michgan will win or lose?  There is no discussion of X's & O's, no discussion of the great games, and no discussion of  the great stars in the past.  It is all negative!  There will be no nerves, tension, or anxiety at noon on Saturday (as fans).  There will be no exctiement, joy, or passion throughout the game (as fans).  It is going to suck in every way possible.

I feel like this rivalry has been taken away from us all the last three seasons. I wanna feel pain when Michgian gets their ass kicked on Saturday, but I will just be numb. Never in my wildest dreams did I ever think it would be like this as a Michigan fan.  Never did I think that an 8-4 season could feel like paradise.  Most of all, it sucks for the Michigan seniors!  They never signed up for this crap!  They have worked their asses off the last 4 or 5 years and they deserve to feel good.  They came to Michigan to win!.  I hope they can pull this off somehow on Saturday, but it will take a miracle.  Give us our rivalry back!!!  These pricks in Ohio have it way too easy!  Fuck em all!

2 years 26 weeks ago This is horrible

I hate Fox Sports with a passion!  Their NFL coverage sucks, their National baseball coverage sucks, and their college football coverage is the worst.  Watching those BCS games on Fox was awful!  ESPN/ABC should carry the Big Ten Title game

2 years 27 weeks ago (No subject)

2 years 28 weeks ago Michigan Football

I have been a supporter of this regime since Day 1.  However, 4-16 in the Big Ten is impossible to imagine and even harder to take. My personal emotions during the last 24 hours started as rage, moved to depression, and have finally have reached accepetance.

The acceptance phase of my emotional rollercoaster is something I have fought against since December of 2007. Before the disaster last night,  I fully believed in our Head Coach and his philosophy.  I fully believed that Michigan would find a way to play solid defensively.  I fully believed that this offensive phsilosphy was the way to win big time college football games on the national stage.   However, everything I believed in the last 34 months has been wrong and there are no more excuses.  This philosophy of football at Michigan has not worked, the defense is light years away from being average, and the offense is cute, but not cute enough to win against real teams. Don't even get me started on the pathetic special teams.

I sincerely hope that I am wrong, but there isn't gonna be enough time time to proove that Coach Rodriguez is right.  This era of Michigan football is on lifesupport and it's gonna take four defensive miracles to save it.  It is just about time for all of us to say goodnight...

2 years 34 weeks ago Umass

Umass had the perfect offensive strategy for their ability throughout the ballgame. 1st down:  run...gain of 3.  2nd down:  run...gain of 3.  3rd and manageable:  play action, roll the QB out (avoid Michigan's pressure), and convert over and over.

I give the coaching staff of Umass even more credit in the 4th quarter.    The minutemen trailed by multiple possesions.  However, they never went away from their gameplan. They continued to pound the ball and convert on 3rd and manageable to slowly creep back in the game.  Conventional wisdom would have said to take shots down the field and to speed up the game.  Nevertheless, Umass continued to be a thorn in the Michigan defense.

Before the UCONN game, I just wanted wins and I didn't care how they came.  After the game today, I was pissed!  However, Michigan is 3-0 and I would have given my left testicle for that at the beginning of the season!

I will go to sleep tonight knowing that Michigan will be in a New Years Day bowl!  Go Blue!

2 years 37 weeks ago Michigan's division is much tougher

Playing at Nebraska and Iowa every other year will be a little more challenging than at Wisconsin & Penn State. Penn St. & Nebraska are equal, but I think Iowa is a better program than a post-Alvarez Wisconsin. Plus, Michigan has owned Wisconsin and Penn State over the years.  Winning in Lincoln & Iowa City will be no picnic.

The lower tier of MSU, Nortwestern, and Minnesota is much better than Illinois, Indiana, and Purdue.

Bottom line, Michigan & Ohio St. should be in the same division and play the last game of the year.

This is another example of a few suits that think they are smarter than the masses and refuse to give the people what they want!  Don't mess with the greatest rivalry in sports!
It will never be the same!  Sure, a big ten championship game with Michigan/Ohio State would be exciting, highly rated, and hyped by ESPN. Can you imagine the excitment of the bands marching out in Indiana at a cooperate Dome?  I'm all in for Big Ten exapanion, divisions, and a championship game.  However, I never thought the Big Ten would be stupid enough to put Michigan & Ohio State in opposing divisions and to move the game in the schedule.  Furthermore, I would have bet a house and car payment  that a Michigan AD who played for Bo Schembechler would never allow the greatest rivalry in sports to be bent over!  I can't believe Brandon supports this!

Given the misery of the Tressel era, the only postive aspect of this news is that Michigan will probably play in more Big Ten title games as a result.

The world cup so EXCITING!!!!!!  In fact, this tournament reminds me of the Notre Dame, Illinois, and Ohio State games during the 1992 Michigan Rose Bowl Championship Football Season.

2 years 48 weeks ago Divisions

I think you have the divisions aligned perfectly for football and basketball.  Michigan, MSU, and OSU must be in the same division. All of the traditional rivalries(Mich- OSU, Mich-MSU, Purdue-Indiana, Wisc-Minnesota) will not be disturbed.  The Woody division in football would be more top heavy, but the BO division would be solid from top to bottom.  Therefore, competitive balance would be perfect.  Penn State already has to travel to all of the teams in the BO division (except Nebraska) anyway, so there travel plans would not really change.

For basketball, the top Big 10 programs over the last ten years have been MSU, Illinois, Wisconsin, and OSU.  Those teams will be split up equally.  The divisions don't matter as much in basketball due to the amount of games. All of the teams will play each other anyway and the tourney still exists.

I hope the Big 10 gets it right, the leadership makes me nervous.

2 years 48 weeks ago Agree to disagree

I guess I can agree with you based on the fan reactions & expectations to the successors, but I believe that that those coaches were successful based on wins and losses.

Tubby got a raw deal at Kentucky.

2 years 48 weeks ago Bill Guthridge:  80-28, .740,

Bill Guthridge:  80-28, .740, 2 final fours

Frank Solich:  58-19, .753, BCS National Championship runner-up

Tubby Smith:  263-83 at Kentucky, .760, National Championship, 3 ELITE 8, 2 sweet 16, never worse than 2nd round in NCAA tourney.  HARDLY A JOKE!

Lou Holtz: 23-11-1 (NO BOWL VICTORIES) in last 3 seasons at Notre Dame.  They built him a statue because the Notre Dame administration and fans are delusional.  Hence, they wanna keep their independence.

The proof of success is in the numbers.

2 years 48 weeks ago Get your facts straight

Notre dame was put on probation in 99  for acedemic fraud.  Lou Holtz was the coach when the cheating took place, I call that shame.

Nebraska probably regrets letting Solich go...Callahan ruined their program.  Guthridge simply retired and Tubby Smith is not laughable.

I never said MSU was immune to fall off. My point was to simply say that Izzo (like it or not) has created a powerhouse and a brand name. I hope Michigan State is horrible for the rest of time, but chances are they will still be in the top 3 of the big ten year after year and compete for Final Fours.  Bo's legacy has lasted for 40 years and he only coached 21 of those seasons.

2 years 49 weeks ago obviously

Your examples are bad.

Nebraska football was pretty successful after Osbourne left.  Frank Solich took them to the BCS National Championship game and his record was 58-19 in 6 seasons.  That is pretty much 10 wins per season...not too shabby.

Bob Knight was fired right before the season started and Indiana hired a coach that Knight thought was an idiot.  Izzo will pick the next coach at MSU.

Lou Holtz left Notre Dame in shame and he did not win a Bowl Game during his last three seasons.  Izzo has made 2 final fours in a row.

Ellerbe...really!  That is not worth a response.

I will give you some good examples to argue my point:

1.  Roy Williams/Bill Self...Kansas is doing ok I think.

2.  Dean Smith/Bill Guthridge..Guthride took Carolina to 2 Final Fours.

3.  Ben Howland/Jamie Dixon...Pitt has been a serious contender in the NCAA tourney during the last 5-8 years.

4.  Rick Pitino/Tubby Smith...won a national title.

5.  Bill Self/Bruce Weber

All of those coaches left their programs when they were at the top of their game, just like Izzo will if he takes a job in the worst state ever.

2 years 49 weeks ago Izzo

I would love to see Michigan State basketball fall apart if Izzo leaves.  However, when you look at the situation obejectively, he has built such a successful program over the last 15 years that the foundation for MSU basketball will most likely be strong enough to continue it's success after he departs for the mistake on the lake.

Bo Schembechler always said that when he left Michigan, he wanted to leave the next coach a highly talented team to make the transition much easier and to insure that the program would continue to succeed after he was gone.  That is exactly what Bo did and the success of Michigan football kept rolling after he was gone.  If Izzo takes the Cavs job, the new coach next season will take over a team with a high level of  talent and experiance that should contend for a National Championship.

Remember,  Kentucky won the national championship with Tubby Smith the season after Petino left for the Celtics.

Sounds like a personal problem.

3 years 4 weeks ago threet

I never said he was bad at making the reads, just not better than all of the other qb's the last two seasons.

3 years 4 weeks ago Minnesota game

Michigan's best game across the board in '08 was the Minnesota game. Sheridan was the starting quarterback that day and not Threet. Furthermore, Sheridan had even less of the physical tools than Threet, but he was the starter for the opening game because of his ability to understand the offense and run the zone read. As Rudy T would say, Sheridan has the heart of a champion!

Understandably, all of the quarterbacks that have played the last two years made poor reads due to their inexperiance. I don't think that Threet showed anything to say that he could run the zone read (from an intellectual standpoint) better than Forcier or Sheridan.

3 years 4 weeks ago No way

Threet would still be at Michigan if he could run the zone read worth a damn. Threet had the nice run against Wisconsin, but Sheridan ran the zone read better than Threet during that season. Threet was a better passer than Sheridan.

3 years 5 weeks ago Scrimmage scores are not scientific

It seems like the scrimmage involved a lot of situational football, which would inflate the score quite a bit. It's like the difference between a internet poll (scrimmage) and a scientific poll (real game), the score doesn't reflect the overall play on both sides of the ball. Observing good tackling technique means a whole lot more than a random score.

3 years 5 weeks ago Defense

It is so great to hear that the defense is looking good. The offense is gonna be solid no matter who the starting quarterback is. With an improved defense, Michigan will be in the hunt for the Big 10 championship. I believe in Rich Rodriguez and his staff more than ever!

3 years 5 weeks ago 96

Next season is gonna be a struggle if they don't land Zeigler, but they could easily make the NCAA tourney if there is a 96 team field.

3 years 5 weeks ago Deshawn & Manny are gone

The PSL isn't producing as many names lately, but the talent will be come back around and is still pretty good. Don't forget about Jordan Crawford and Durrell Summers. They are from the PSL and played outstanding in the NCAA tourney. Morris is very young and will be a solid in the future, but he didn't reach the level of C.J. Lee or David Merrit (walk-on players)this past season. Deshawn & Manny are long gone and were not Beilein's players to begin with. If Beilein lands Zeigler, I will gladly eat my words.

By the way, you are crazy if you think AAU basketball trumps high school basketball in the state of Michigan. High School basketball provides the necessary dicsipline for players to be successful. AAU basketball boosts egos.

3 years 5 weeks ago i agree 100%

That is a great point. The in-state recruiting needs to pick up and an assistant coach with local connections could help Beilein. Michigan's ultimate success will depend on recruiting the PSL and the other hot spots within the state. The knock on Beilein when he was hired was his recruiting ability. Unfortunately, that knock has yet to be proven wrong. The momentum could swing if he lands Trey Zeigler. Recruiting "talent" will alway trump recruiting "system" players. Rich Rod is recruiting superior talent to fit his system, Beilein needs to do the same.

It would be beautiful to see a Michigan basketball team play physical again...it has been way too long.

First of all, I hope Manny has a long and successful career in the NBA. My "a-hole style snark" is simply a joke. It might be a bad joke, but it is a joke. My comment is completely irrelevant and it is not at the expense of anyone. It seems to me that you are little sensitive and take yourself way too seriously.

If you think Manny deserves better, then you might wanna be upset at John Beilein. At the presser today, Beilein went on and on about how great of a free throw shooter Manny is and how the team is gonna miss his free throw shooting next year. Really coach? That is all you can think of to say about your best player? Manny derserves a lot better than that! When it came to quesions from the media, Beilein cut them off and said he had to catch a flight. Way to talk up your player coach! His comments actually matter!

Those teams that win mid-major conferences and make the tourney do recruit well compared to their respective competition. I don't think Beilein wanted him to leave, but he needs to recruit players that are similar to Udoh and Big 10 worthy.

3 years 9 weeks ago Maize & Blue Kool-Aid

I hope you are right, but I think you are drinking a little too much Maize & Blue Kool-Aid.

3 years 9 weeks ago All-time

Epke Udoh had the season of his life at Baylor. He is now the all-time leading shot blocker in Big 12 history for a single season. It is too bad that his style of play could not "fit" in the "Beilein system". I think Michigan could have used a player this past season that just does the dirty work in the paint, but I guess he can't shoot the 3-pointer. Udoh only attempted 25 3-point field goals this season while averaging 35 minutes a game. That is less than Anthony Wright's 35 3PA (Wright only averaged 8.6 min).

Michigan basketball will never seriously contend for a Big 10 championship unless the progam values a player that does the dirty work similar to Udoh. Good luck in the tourney Udoh! I would have loved to see you stay at Michigan, but it looks like you made the right decision and you actually have a legitimate chance to make the Final Four. Baylor got a lucky draw...Duke sucks!

I think that the Michigan Mafia are the old people in Michigan Stadium that tell everyone to "sit down" on 3rd down. They are also the old people that yelled out "God dammit Carr!". Now, they are the old people that cannot differentiate between a spread option and the Wing T. Basically, they are the old people that are preventing my dream of a night game at Michigan Stadium. Can you imagaine a night game at Michigan Statdium? It would be so electric! Nevertheless, they are the old people that contribute the essential money to a successful athletic program.

3 years 10 weeks ago The editor

I listen to Valenti/Foster every day. Foster knows that Sims is a senior, they talk about it all of the time. The editor is to blame, Foster made a dumb mistake and you would figure that somebody at the Detroit News would have noticed.

3 years 10 weeks ago Foster

The Sims comment was stupid, but I thought the overall point of the article was sound. Let's face it, Beilein has a worse record than Ellerbe and Amaker did in their first three seasons. Ellerbe also made a second round tourney run with another coach's players like Beilein. There is no doubt that Beilein is a better coach than Amaker and Ellerbe, but his recruiting thus far seems to be suspect at best. I will be more optimistic if Beilein lands Trey Zeigler, but I'm not holding by breath. This season has been a total disaster!

3 years 10 weeks ago it can happen

If Michigan makes a run at it, it wouldn't be the first time that an upstart team won a conference tourney. They will probably have to average 50% from the three point line over the four days to have any kind of chance. It could happen (no way in hell).

Fire Belein and bring in a coach that can sell the University and recruit real Big Ten talent. 42-14 at halftime is unacceptable against an NBA team, let alone against your arch rival where they are gonna raise a banner on your ass. Oh wait, I forgot Bill Martin just gave him a contract extention.

Assuming Michigan's defense will improve to an average D, I think 8 wins is a a realistic possibility. They should go 4-0 in the nonconference once again, Michigan will probably be a small favorite in South Bend.

They have a shot to start 3-0 in the big ten: at IU, home for MSU and Iowa ( will at least split MSU & IOWA).

Therefore, they will enter Happy Valley at 6-1 or 7-0. They will most likely lose at PSU, get revenge on Purdue, kill Illnois, and have a strong possiblity to beat Wisconsin in the Big House. It is my dream that they will win in Columbus, but it I will not hold my breath.

8-4 or 9-3!

You really hurt my feelings with those words. It is amazing how easy it is to get reactions out of people.

3 years 11 weeks ago Soccer vs. Lacrosse

Soccer sucks! We all know it is is impossible to watch. Although, there is a sport that is worse than soccer. It is called Lacrosse. I would rather watch the Ohio State football team progress through spring drills than think about lacrosse...that is how much lacrosse sucks!

3 years 11 weeks ago Lacrosse??

I love MGOBLOG and visit the site at least 5 times a day! However, lacrosse...really?? Does anyone really care? I would rather watch the ladies basketball team play a double header. I know a lot of people around U of M are from the east coast and have a stick up their ass, but lacrosse coverage belongs on the Harvard, Yale, and Duke blogs. I will look foward to Michigan football talk on the next posting.

Am I the only person that was extremely annoyed with the stupid look on Mary Sue's face throughout the press conference? I thought her body language was very smug to say the least.

3 years 12 weeks ago Possible consequences

Recently, Florida State got into a little trouble with academic fraud and fieldedineligible players, which is considered to be much worse than the potential Michigan violations. As a result, the football program had to vacate wins, lose scholarships, and be put on probation. However, Florida State did not get a post season ban!

What does this mean for Michigan if found guilty of the violations?

Logic suggests:
1. They will probably be put on probation...whatever.
2. Florida State only lost 6 scholarships over a three year period as a result of ACADEMIC FRAUD! Therefore, if Michigan loses scholarships, it has to be less than 6.
3. There is no way Michigan will have a postseason ban.
4. Hopefully, this will result in a slap on the wrist and nothing worse.

If the NCAA punishes Michigan like Flordia State or worse...I will have Johnny sweep the legs of the commitee!

They tell me that "once you go black, you never go back." I hope that applies in this case.

3 years 16 weeks ago Manny

Manny has been a true Michigan man throughout his career thus far. Everyone makes mistakes and he will be just fine. At the same time, I respect Belein for his decision. Building the foundation to a successful program requires this type of discipline. Hang in there Manny, you will become a better man and player as a result. Beat Sparty on tuesday!
