The other one is Larry Johnson, their DL coach.

Does Pitt have a marching band? There is RAWK after every play.

Toledo's helmets look very weird with their uniforms.

MSU had a pick-six, so their offense actually scored 33. Also, another score came on a pass that hit a NW defender in the hands and bounced to an MSU player for a long TD. So yeah, NW's defense might not be awesome, but that scoreline was a bit fluky.

Honestly, what was the point of ever releasing depth charts? For the benefit of the gambling community?

Cook went 18-39 passing last year and MSU scored 21 offensive points. It's hard to complain about that defensive effort.

Nebraska also barely beat the same Colorado team we destroyed.

We have the top-rated pass defense in the country. Let's keep that in mind.
|1 day 10 hours ago||Weird to think that this||
Weird to think that this popgun MSU offense starts six seniors.
I also enjoy how nearly our entire defense is composed of Dangermen - and McCray and Thomas aren't exactly weak links, either.
|1 day 12 hours ago||Oh, I thought you were||
Oh, I thought you were talking about the current freshmen.
Yeah, some of our upperclassmen didn't play much as frosh. But honestly, even with a redshirt it's tricky to actually get four years of major contribution from a guy. Either they're just not ready as freshmen (true or otherwise) or there is a lot of depth at their position - or conversely, they are ready off the bat, but then end up leaving early.
|1 day 13 hours ago||They played SEVEN teams that||
Keep in mind, the rankings in the OP are those at the time of the game and not those of the final polls. Colorado was a huge bust in '97, finishing 5-6. Likewise, I don't think either Iowa or MSU (both 7-5) finished 1997 in the top 25, and PSU (9-3) turned out to be more of a top 15 team. When all is said and done, based on the final rankings, our 2016 schedule might well be comparable to 1997's, and possibly even tougher.

We have a chance to contend for the national championship this season. Would you rather have us not play these guys at all and then press them into duty when someone gets hurt in week 10 or 11?

O'Connor and Terry aren't listed in the box score for the MSU-Maryland game. Are you sure they were injured in it?

Given the exorbitant number of TV timeouts, I find that I never need to take breaks during actual game action.

Is Detroit known for stinginess or something? I'm from the area, but don't quite get the reference.

Maybe not quite the frame of the game, but the Higdon offset draw on 3rd and 17 is highly addictive to watch.

It's not quite literally pure gold. But it's funny.

IIRC, in '97 we lost the coin toss every week, or almost every week. We clearly needed Leach's tips.
|2 days 9 hours ago||Classic||
I remember this one. They did this for a few different schools (I think FSU was one?) but of course this was the best.
|2 days 12 hours ago||What gets me is not so much||
What gets me is not so much the two in a row there (which is a one-time thing, OK), but the fact that it's screwed up the MSU/OSU home rotation permanently.
|2 days 13 hours ago||Plus, a shoebox probably||
I agree that this is probably some new type of shoe, but this is just a fashion thing. You don't need different shoes when you go from FieldTurf to grass. Possibly a different length of cleat (depending on how long the grass is), but that's it.
|2 days 13 hours ago||the Nittany Lion offense||
It was actually a blocked punt. That was a brutal fourth quarter for the OSU special teams. Boccher-esque.
|2 days 14 hours ago||I don't understand this||
I don't understand this phenomenon of filiming yourself being upset when your team loses and uploading it to YouTube. I've assumed it's all an act.

I'm not an expert at deciphering cryptic Twitter posts by equipment guys, but the presence of a football helmet/football and the football field-like floor design would seem to suggest that it's related to the gridiron.

What are the two groups in the 50/50? White/nonwhite?
|2 days 15 hours ago||It manifests itself||
It manifests itself differently than in a place like Russia. French people, in general, won't boo black French players or insult them to their face. They'll go online and complain that the team isn't "representative" enough, or that it's too "street," or that it doesn't sing the national anthem loudly enough, etc.
By the same token, fans of rival countries regularly spam French soccer forums with comments about "Frafrica" and how they aren't playing the "real" French team but the "colonial" one, which doesn't help matters.
|2 days 18 hours ago||I would guess that he's tried||
I would guess that he's tried to keep it a secret from his players, but this would affect his job performance all the same. If he's been in negotiations with Texas, that's got to be distracting to him when he's supposed to be preparing for Navy, SMU, etc. And players can sense when their coach is "off".

They've been a solid program for awhile now though - Briles, Sumlin and Herman have all been successful there. It seems to be one of the better Group of 5 jobs out there.
