Adjust your sound to play

Adjust your sound to play Opera Muppets and Lewan's press conference at the same time... it syncs perfectly! Aliens?!?!

Pretty much...

Pretty much what I was thinking. Unless LSU loses big to Bama I don't know know how you still don't say LSU is the best team in the Nation.

It's so annoying to listen to all these talking heads completely ignoring this possibilty.

Or am I wrong and the winner of the game is automatically decrlared the champ ignoring the polls?

I am sure...

I am sure brian will cover it in the UFR, but which play is this in reference to?

Your offensive coordinator took a lot of heat for the short-yardage call against Michigan State. Talk about his guts to come back to that play.

I want to go look it up right now...

Boise St...

I can't count the number of hours of my life boise state has wasted... it seems like they always start 7-0, at which point we get stuck with pointless running debates on whether or not they should get a shot at the title.

Only to have them lose at some point...

I realize it is a "sexy" topic and a great way for lazy producers to fill airtime... but... its growing tiresome...

Watching that clip...

I need a pronouncing check on Jason Avant...

I have always pronounced it... you know... the french'ier sounding way... more of "a-vah-nt" instead of "av-ANT" like the announcer.

Have I been saying it wrong all these years?

Anyone Else?

I remember hearing stories from the UofM admissions office where they had essays posted on the wall from people claiming to "sleep with buckeyes under their pillows", and other such tragically hilarious faux pas...

So as long as you aren't applying to MSU or OSU Bo is probably fine...

[Seconded for all the things said before about if Bo is your to passion, then go for it.]

Lets hope...

Lets hope *tradition* means that much!

We sure as hell arent recruiting based off our recent success...

How about...

S'Mor

The Possibilities are limitless...

"exsuse me sir i'd like S'mor"

"you'll want S'mor"

/ducks

Little too soon to tell...

We need to wait until we see next years 2013 INSTATE RECRUITING class, before we can have any hope of answering this question...

So, arguing whether or not MSU is here to stay as a dominate team at this point is a useless endeavor. We can debate it all day long (which we have) and throw out the same worn out arguments (aka. best vs. worst teams in 50 years) to make us feel better...

MSU lives and dies by instate recruiting, which they have dominated over the last 3 years (insert obligatory RR bash).

Background: 2009-2011 instate (UofM to MSU)

5star = 2  to 1

4star = 4 to 7

3star = 7 to 15

However, this year we might as well call MSU's instate recruiting class “Dantonio's Devastated Domination”…

Scout.com class of 2012

Michigan #1*

Michigan State #26

*[caveats for their ranking being “somewhat” influenced by how much revenue they expect to gain for dolling out ranks (see: ND every year)

Breakdown (just pulling from Ace’s great info)

Top 100

UofM = 2

MSU = 1

5 Star

UofM = 1

MSU = 0

4 Star

UofM = 12 (5 instate) (W00T!)

MSU = 2 (1 instate)

3 Star

UofM = 10 (2 instate)

MSU = 12 (3 instate)

That is 5 more “premium” instate recruits for UoM this year!

BUT, as promising as those numbers are they could be an anomaly related to the first year boost a lot of new head coaches see.

SO, the Class of 2013** is where we need to look for “educated guessing material”.

IF, (big if) Hoke&Company is able to out recruit MSU instate again DESPITE losing to them 4 years in a row, we will have our answer and if not... (Insert Horrible Thoughts)…

AND, even if we do wreak Dantonio’s boat in recruiting it might take a year or two to show dividends… shudder…

** 5star MI, QB Shane Morris has already committed to UoM class of 2013

It's nice and all, but...

I actually feel uncomfortable being ranked in the top ten (potentially) and would be absolutely petrified if we even sniff the top5 at any point this season because it has the potential to completely color people’s expectations moving forward and take the focus off what is really important to our football team... growth...

We have been terrible for the last 3 years, and although I am extremely excited about the direction the program is heading we just started on our journey and have a long way to go.

At this point all I want is week to week improvement in our offense, defense and kick coverage...

Shuí

Shuí

Well...

I have no idea who this is, but...

Big Ten Announcers

Yea, they are bad... and they know it...

dido...

I also took to the internet to express my very polite but firm view that this is complete BS...

If the bigten didn't have a world limit I would have liked to explain to them that these are exactly the sort restrictive and regressive practices that MLB is shooting themselves in the foot with and why baseball although still popular is becoming less and less relevant.

Everyone hop on the bandwaggon and voice your displeasure...

This post is...

hmmm... reminds me of somebody...

More and More...

Yea, its totally a throwaway line... but after watching the videos posted here:

http://mgoblog.com/mgoboard/borges-and-mattison-tuesday-presser-video

My faith in those two is really growing (and they are growing on me too), more than just saying the right things it seems like they really "get it" (transcript doesn’t do them justice).

As far as I am concerned they have my benefit of the doubt for the rest of the season and just do their thing. No worrying about shotgun ratios, no complaining about big plays caused by blown coverage’s on blitzes*, I am confident they are taking us in the right direction and equally confident they are approaching the transition in the right way… no one said it would be pretty.

*well maybe a little…

Most passing Yards!

Brady only needs 43 more yards to have the record for most passing yards in a game.

- Most passing yards, game 554, Norm Van Brocklin September 28, 1951

- Most passing yards, game, No interceptions 527, Warren Moon December 16, 1990

Michigan Pride

Having two starting QBs going head to head in a huge MNF game gives me a HUGE amount of pride as a michigan fan.

Denard is a legend and I love him, but the idea of michigan producing Pro-Style QBs and sending them to the NFL is something I would really look forward too.

Hard call...

I understand the sentiment but I have to disagree, unless the player is significantly banged up. I think the team (specifically the defense) needs as many “game” reps as possible to work out the kinks that we are constantly seeing in coverages and defensives reads.

At this point I am willing to take the reps, for guys just starting to learn a new system, over the risk of injuries.

Of course if anyone ended getting hurt I would end up looking like an idiot...

Bubbas no More

No I boycott bubbas because they refuse to show michigan games live, because "they arent interesting". We were watching at camel.

Shanghai schadenfrude

I was watching the game with about 15 other Michigan fans here at a bar in shanghai, with 3 ND off watching on their own TV.

When it was 24-7 when one of the bigger ones waddled over and props himself up against a wall near us and said (as nonchalantly as he can).

Him: "Good game so far..."

Us: "Still a long way to go..."

Him: "Yea, well I am pretty happy with ND's play..."

He then stood there for another 20 seconds with a shit eating grin on his face and then waddled away.

We of course being fans with actual class did not take the opportunity to stop by his little powwow after we finished our victory shots.

The blog is pretty much

The blog is pretty much harmless and in no way deserving of the attention we pay it sans the videos. (The train wreck factor is still enjoyably high though)

So Damefan please start making the videos again!

P.S. I know you are reading this because anyone who starts a post:

"(I'm sure all the little ladies over at M-GO BLOG will love this...they are so gay for me it's disturbing!...)"

is definitely lurking around in search of an echubby from the attention...

There is more to the story

I liked the call and thought it was a risk worth taking given how dangerous they had been moving the ball (unless you went into OT assuming they would turn it over again)

What was more interesting was in the post game where Hoke seemed mildly suprised that there were 8 seconds left.

And followed that up by saying that even if they had not completed the play he might have gone for the win again with 2 seconds left.

Its been a long long time...

I am not sure anyone else felt this way but...

Coming out of the half we seemed like a better/stronger team.

This is notable because for as long as I can remember*, 5 minutes into every third quarter I was yelling at my TV "Where are the half-time adjustments?!?!!!!!"

Of course my perceived lack of "adjustments" was only a name for the lack of "improvement" I always seemed to see in our 2nd half performances.

Through all the wins and all the miraculous comeback victories (that I remember*), they all seemed to work within the same performance framework half to half. Yes, maybe we would fire off some long bombs or engineer great drives, but this was the first time I got the feeling we came out  as a fundamentally more effective team in the second half because of "adjustments"...or for whatever reason.

(Take it for what it’s worth, because the mind plays tricks on you when thinking back over the years, but I was floored.)

*What I remember is only from the middle of the Carr-era.

Thanks...

Honestly, it sums up my experience in china better than any one picture I have ever seen.

Now I re-submit for your approval the dangers of running mgoblog...

(I appologize but I am litterally mezmorized by this... yea I know I am weird...)

20 hot ones com'in at ya...

He obviously needs it... seeing how far he has fallen...

Well...

Its either open-mindedness or stockholm syndrome, I still can’t decide which…

double post

double post

Interesting to see a shift in tone....

Not sure what it is about the "AM" but there are large number of posts I agree with.

Maybe people are feeling the same pit in their stomach that drove me to make my first post (after years of lurking).

We need to keep RR one more year, not because he will or won't lead us to multiple national championships, but because of what Michigan football represents and who we are as fans.

No one knows for sure if RR will be vindicated next year, but if we let him go, we need to do it after removing all doubt and giving him the time and resources needed to succeed, anything less and we risk abandoning the spirit of Michigan football and dooming ourselves to acting like every other program and fan base.

Completely Agree...

I am not sure how many of us there are out there, but count me as one because this is EXACTLY how I feel. Since you stated the case more eloquently than I can, I will just amend a summary of my feelings.

I wanted RR FIRED going into this season, there are numerous reasons why I wanted him gone.

1. The sketchy way he left WVU

2. The NCAA Violations (debunked mostly)

3. "Special Tea... yes please!, Oh... Tea[m]s, never mind Ill pass..."

4. Terrible Terrible (Arrggggg! MUST BREAK SOMETHING…) losses

However, this year actually changed my mind because I can see something in the team. We saw hints of it all this year and the question just keeps gnawing at me “what could next year look like?”

1.      DR learns how to throw the deep ball (and lead a receiver) so teams can’t play "cover 0" anymore

2.      We can convert field goals (which is one of the biggest reason I think we got killed by good teams, it affects all aspects of the game against a good team)

However, what put me over the edge was RR decision to suspended Will Hagerup for the OSU game, he had to know he was shooting himself in the foot for the biggest game of his tenure and that showed me some character.

For me the oportunity cost is just to high not to give him one more year.
