I think it's Grady, because the numbers on the helmets was a 2011 thing, and MICH 36 - Purdue 14 was 2011. The terrifyingly good Funchess didn't show up until 2012.

How long will it be before we have a 5 star recruit not bother with college at all, and instead sign with an agent and train for 3 years (including reviewing film, taking part in 7 v 7s, etc.) in anticipation of the NFL Draft?
If the argument is one more game damages a player's NFL stock, well, doesn't playing 30+ college games do far more damage? Did college football really help Adrian Peterson or Fournette or Jadeveon Clowney?
In a related point, let's hope McCaffrey's younger brother doesn't make the same decision in a few years when he's playing for the Maize and Blue and the team is prepping for a hypothetical non-playoff bowl game.

First off, a lawsuit doesn't imply negligence. A lawsuit will lay out its particular claims. If the plaintiff is alleging negligence, it won't be implied. It'll be in the lawsuit.
Second, negligence in most states requires showing (among other elements) that a defendant owes the plaintiff a duty of care. That duty probably existed before CTE was known, and just because "everybody knows the danger now" doesn't mean that negligence claims are going to go away.

Your first two points have already started. Youth football numbers are declining, though flag football is getting stronger. Whether that will sustain high school football in the long run is an open question.
Don't forget about the prohibitive cost of high schools to carry insurance for football. Many simply won't bother to sanction the sport due to cost.
Also, on June 12 this year, AIG announced it was no longer insuring the NFL or youth football players for head injuries. Other insurers copied them.

He is a very good tactical coach.
This is where the US got it wrong. Klinsmann is the perfect Technical Director. He knows a lot about nutrition, fitness, and has the ability to recruit dual citizenship players. Where he is bad is in-game tactics and formation development.
Klinsmann as Technical Director, with Arena as the head coach, would have been a fantastic arrangement. Maybe if Claudio Reyna takes over as TD the setup will be more conducive to getting good results at the senior level.

Look at the end of half INT that Michigan turned into a FG, and the missed FG by Geiger.
Dantonio went for 2 at the end so, if successful, he could blame his QB and kicker for the loss in the postgame, just like he did to his QB at half-time.

Any coaching decision is questionable, that is true, so using that term doesn't add much to the narrative.
It adds even less when David Shaw's late-game strategy worked out precisely as he wanted it to.

I really dislike the premise of the post, but I'll bite and add 2 more moments that did tons of damage to the program.
1) Ohio State hires Jim Tressel; and
2) Michigan hires Dave Brandon.

Braden weighs 100 pounds more than me and we are the same height. I cannot imagine what he has to eat to maintain that weight. That is absurd.
|39 weeks 2 days ago||One-time hits are not the||
One-time hits are not the concern with linemen. Everyone here knows that. It's the hit on every single snap that they have to sustain that are the reason I brought up weight limits. Getting hit 70-80 times a game by a 320 pound player is absurd.
I don't think it's unreasonable to look for ways to try and reduce the potential for injury. There were 3 300 pounders in the NFL in 1980. There were more than 500 in 2010. There were 12 over 300 pounds on Michigan's spring roster.
Evidence is also showing up that the added weight causes many of these men to die young. I'm not sure why our enjoyment should get in the way of being reasonable in protecting the health of these players. These players can do everything they want to do at 275 pounds that they try to do at 320 pounds.
|39 weeks 3 days ago||I think, in college football||
I think, in college football especially, enforcing a weight limit could help not only with the health issues caused by human beings being 330 pounds, but also with the head issues caused by being hit by a human being weighing 330 pounds.
I haven't thought this out, but placing weight limits on certain positions (OL and DL can't weigh more than 275, TE can't weigh more than 260, etc.) might help reduce the effects, in some way, of helmet on helmet collisions sustained every play by linemen.

If these lawsuits are successful in any way, and the attorneys next target high school football (where the concussion protocols, training, and resources are far inferior to college), football associated with high schools (especially public ones) may cease to exist.

Doesn't Brown live in one of the Carolinas? I'm not sure location means much when it comes to "recruiting coverage."
You are being very generous to Brown. His contributions to the genre are worth ignoring, in my opinion.
