This list is completely arbitrary and not a genuine analysis of the relative merits of state fossils.

| 3 years 32 weeks ago | Thanks for the info |
I recall the thread now that you mention it, but at the time I wasn't planning on being there on Saturday, so I didn't read it. |
| 3 years 32 weeks ago | Improvement in the season, and from season to season |
Improvement in the season, and from season to season seems to me to be a mark of a coaching staff that knows what it is doing. OT: In Chicago this weekend and looking for a good place to watch the UM/Iowa game. Any thoughts would be appreciated. |
| 3 years 32 weeks ago | Brady threw a few TD's to Vrabel, IIRC |
which is even more ironic, I would think. |
| 3 years 32 weeks ago | Generally agree with the thought, but ... |
... Morgan Trent is playing defense in the NFL this season(albeit for the Bengals), which suggests NFL talent evaluators felt that was the best side of the ball for him (or maybe the only side of the ball for him, I guess). Plus, I'm sorry, but Morgan Trent ran down Percy Harvin in the Cap One Bowl, which makes him okay in my book. Proves your point - that he has straight-line speed - but still. |
| 3 years 32 weeks ago | That's pretty funny |
Good play. |

He's #1 with a rocket. |
| 3 years 32 weeks ago | Of course, I miss the Haloscan days .. |
But it's probably just as easy to just not read any posts made over the last couple of hours if you're worried about that sort of thing. This too will pass, as they say. |
| 3 years 32 weeks ago | Jazzman: your insight posted as a reply to my comment ... |
Yes, I am (or "are" as you'd likely say) retarted. First I had a tart, then I lost her, now I'm getting one back. Correct, I did not watch the game. I was at my spelling and grammar class. You'll likely have to take one when you get to middle school. I am ignornant, which I assume means that when small creatures such as "ants" approach me, I ignore them. |
| 3 years 32 weeks ago | As a long-time reader/short-time poster ... |
and therefore one of the dreaded posting newbies, my view is that if you had told me State would score only 20 through 4 quarters, I would has taken it in a heartbeat. If you had told me that Tate would lead the team to 2 TD's in the fourth quarter to tie the game, I would have taken that too. If you had told me that UM would go into Spartan Stadium and take the favored team to OT, I would have liked our chances. Yeah, it sucks Michigan lost and it sucks even more that the loss was to MSU. But still, it might be calming to have some perspective. |
| 3 years 33 weeks ago | To address the question of Holly's status as "he/she/it" |
Please see this post from a couple of years ago: http://www.everydayshouldbesaturday.com/2007/09/17/the-wager-fulfilled/#... Not normal fare for the MGoBlog site, I understand, but just so ya know. And that picture's the result of Holly paying up on a bet from the 2007 UT/FL game featuring "He-Who-Would-Become-The-Losing-QB" from that season's Capital One Bowl. In connection with Orson's comments on Star Trek and British humor, please see: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=luVjkTEIoJc I know I posted that link a couple of days ago, but I find it pretty funny and at least on-topic in light of Orson's post in the EDSBS article on the UM/MSU game this weekend that the offending quote was drawn from. Have a good weekend. |
| 3 years 33 weeks ago | Which of course is true, but also a rather subtle way ... |
of telling his players that we don't repsect them as much as we do other opponents. |
| 3 years 33 weeks ago | No lie, bwana. |
If you haven't given't the OP a +1, you should so do. |
| 3 years 33 weeks ago | "Penultimate" |
Great word. Glad to see it used in connection with RVB's drive of atonement. I'm more in favor of him missing a check in the pre-game warm-ups than during the first quarter. |
| 3 years 33 weeks ago | That's no ordinary rabbit ... |
That's the most foul, cruel and bad-tempered rodent you ever set eyes on. |
| 3 years 33 weeks ago | Coach Rod also said that Tate, Denard and Sheridan |
were "neck and neck (and neck?)" in practice. I'm concerned, even if he says he is not. |
| 3 years 33 weeks ago | Those are some damn fine cell phone pics on Maize-n-Brew |
And I tend to think they show the call on the field was correct. I also think that seeing the face of IU's coach go from white to IU red (to match his windbreaker) in about a heartbeat was pretty amazing. |
| 3 years 34 weeks ago | I don't always drink beer, but when I do ... |
I sure as hell don't prefer Dos Equis. But then again, I'm more like the world's most uninteresting man. Written before BrayBray1 made his point. Beck's tonight, thank you. |
| 3 years 34 weeks ago | Exchange student visiting during the '79 IU game |
Friends of my folks had a German exchange student and they were visiting the weekend of the '79 IU game (my senior year of HS). We were in the basement shooting pool and listening to the radio broadcast. Ufer's call on AC's touchdown got him so fired up we had to go outside, play "American" football, and try to reenact the call. I so miss Bob Ufer. |

I was in Ann Arbor for UM Law School's 150th Anniversary Celebration, which happened to coincide with the ND game. I wasn't lucky enough to score tickets for my wife and me, but the Law School held a tailgate party in the Law Quad with big screen TV's, food and drinks. It was really cool. Spent the second half of the game with a great guy from FL who was there for his 50th reunion. There were also alums there for their 55th and 60th reunions (I'm class of '87, btw). Anyway, Forcier throws the TD to Mathews and the two of us go nuts right in front of one of the TV's. A couple of the people sitting at the table behind us (class of '54 or '49, I suspect) -- and whose view we were blocking -- yell "Down in front." We whirl on them, only to see they are kidding. It was pretty damn funny after all the years of hearing that from people who actually meant it. |
| 3 years 35 weeks ago | Yet another reason to hate ND ... |
Like that's a short list |
| 3 years 35 weeks ago | What if the punch-thrower had been an ND player? |
It's not like the Big 11 could have done anything if the player was from ND. The conference should have stayed the hell out of this and, at best, sent a message to UM that something symbolic needed to be done. I disagree, BTW, that he necessarily needed to do anything once the video "came out." I believe the quote was no "further" action would be taken. If that's accurate and some "action" was taken (even if just a stern "talking-to"), then the B-11 didn't need to step in. |
| 3 years 39 weeks ago | Spring Lake ... great little area |
Me too. Well, actually sister-in-law/brother-in-law (my wife's from there). What a coincidence. The kids love it. |
| 3 years 40 weeks ago | Go to Ashley's then |
Really, really good beer. Food is good too. I was in Ann Arbor for Art Fair in July and will be back next month for the Notre Dame game the weekend after the WMU game. A lot has changed since I was in school in the 80's, but Ashley's is still a treat. |
| 3 years 40 weeks ago | Assuming you like beer ... |
Ashley's on State Street is always good. I was always partial to Rick's on Church, but the smell is an acquired taste. |
