Could always run that Stanford formation from a few years ago

Does he displace Miller? Kalis/Bosch? Or does he go to LG and bump Mags to LT?
I'm hoping for option 1, then 2, then 3. If it's 3 I'd hate to think that Cole burned his RS for nothing.
That said, a true freshman will be Alabama's starting LT too this year..

I can't consider northwestern a road game having attended the last two. 60% + Michigan fans.
|1 day 9 hours ago||This trip in general is just awesome||
I would have loved an all-expenses-paid trip to Europe in college, and it really seems like Michigan is taking advantage of it. From sightseeing to getting a huge head start on playing together, traveling together, etc. hopefully it'll show dividends when the season arrives. The early season tournaments and road games should faze this team less when they've had this experience together.
|2 days 6 hours ago||Excitement for the season||
I think as much as anything this post is about getting excited for the season. Yes the OL has questions but Michigan still has some damn good players. A schedule that should set up well and this team could surprise some people.

What concerns me isn't that Borges didn't recruit the 5 stars - it's that of the kids he got none of them contributed on a starting level at that school.

You're right. Nascar brings almost nothing of value anymore IMO. Autoracing is cool to me when it's the forefront of technology - look at the LeMans series or Formula 1 - DCT gearboxes were prevalent there years ago with shift paddles, and now they're everywhere. Same with turbocharging - Porsche started it in the 70s for racing and now it's everywhere. Nascar still uses carburators - tech that hasn't been in a new car for almost 30 years - and 4 speed manual transmissions - while casr today has 5-6-or even 7 speed manuals.
Want to get Nascar more relevant again? Change the engine to a twin-turbo V6. It just so happens that both Ford and Chevy are marketing the hell out of 3.5L and 3.6L TTV6s respectively. Throw some more gears in the trans and/or make automatics and DCTs available to teams. Use some tech to create some separation in the teams. It's not "Win on Sunday, Sell on Monday" when only 1 manufacturer offers a RWD V8 sedan with a manual trans (as of 2015, it's just the Chevy SS which now gets a manual option). But if the "Ecoboost" V6 is suddenly the Nascar engine? Hooo boy. Ford already markets the shit out of it.

I'm with the other posters in that IOE (what we real engineers call instead of engineering) might be a good spot for you. In terms of the degree and the job, most engineering degrees are amazingly flexible. I got a degree in mechanical engineering and I could work for almost any company in lots of roles.
I took through Calc 4 and have never ever had to solve a Diff Eq. There are math people for that. The most advanced that I get in math is to set up excel, do algebra, or use minitab for statistics.
I'm an engineer at a major auto supplier and I'm very front end. I would say I get out a pencil and paper about 1-2 hours per month to do "math". I consider my engineering degree had 2 parts (BSME 2009 from Michigan) - the engineering knowledge base and calculations and then part 2 is the engineering thought process/problem solving. I use the stuff from part 2 much more frequently than part 1. I'm happy to answer more questions here

Denard's up to 212lbs now according to the Jags website. Now that he's focusing on RB instead of WR he gained some weight.
|1 week 7 hours ago||2 things - Video and results||
I think the two main things that differentiate the situation are the video and the results. As others have discussed lots of drunk people throw punches and lots of drunk people drive when they shouldn't. The results from one to the other are a big difference. Glasgow got a ticket and luckily didn't hurt anyone (although he very easily could have). York broke a kid's jaw.
The other big thing is the video. York's entire crime has been witnessed by everyone, it could have easily been played on a loop or even a GIF. I wonder how much more outrage there would have been if Glasgow's escapade was on a dash cam? Remember, this was the description:

Skeeps has been a trouble spot for players in the past too. Our beloved commentator Brian Greise threw a stool through a window. Tate was pretty notorious there. I saw Mallet there and he was just as big a douche as any story you've heard. Keep in mind all 3 had these events as freshmen or RS freshmen... I agree with above posters. How much worse is this thanks to the video?
Skeeps is what it is, a college shitshow bar with cheap alcohol, loud music, etc. I much preferred other bars (in no small part because of how full of smoke Skeeps got) but York should have known better.
If the line is into the parking garage, you're much better going elsewhere.

To the confused 14 year old football player in bumble, Iowa who knows he's gay but hides his true self.
I think many are on the same page, that we'd love for when this kind of announcement isnt news, and for some of us, we're there (Great for him, now who cares!) but everyone's not there yet - as evidenced by some comments in this thread.

|1 week 1 day ago||My belief doesn't exist on your board||
I'd say his priorities are 1 Marketing - 2 Winning - 3aTradition - 3bFan Interest. Brandon hasn't been afraid to push the envelope but there are a few inexcusable things: culpability when things fail, change for the sake of change, the gutting and reforming of the AD itself, and the treatment of "the loyal". DB has done some good things - much of which is paid for with Martin's skyboxes - the Big Chill sure was a Wow experience, as was the winter classic - but I think at this point the bad outweighs the good.
There have been quite a few failures under DB - GA seating, price increases, seat cushions, etc. and there has been almost no culpability or remorse. The attitude seems to be "you're dumb for not wanting this great thing we gave you".
Change for the sake of change has lead to "build me up buttercup" over the PA before a critical 3rd down during the Game and ugly uniforms from Adidas.
As Brian said in Chicago, of the 270 or so AD employees only 24 (including Berenson and Hutch) predate Brandon. There's almost no one left who knows what Michigan's AD was like before it was a revenue generating marketing machine.
What's pissed me off the most is the treatment of the loyal. Players are now expected to pay for tickets. People on this board have mentioned how family members who were promised lifetime seats/parking/etc. have to fight to keep them every year. I think this is totally related to my above point - if you're a new AD employee you don't know that players get to come back for life. You know that you want to make money. IMO this will be DB's downfall. Piss off enough former players and he'll lose enough support that he'll be on the way out.
