Alabama wasn't a marquee program when RR turned them down.
Alabama had 4 different coaches in the six years prior to hiring Saban, and they certainly weren't a top 3 program under Mike Shula. Any school that finds a need to fire their coach isn't a top 3 job.
This is just my opinion, but I don't think that the elite coaches care about winning percentage prior to their arrival or stadium capacity. Most of them care more about how much money they are going to make, and until recently Michigan has failed to be competitive in that area.
Three coaches who are not in marquee jobs either turned the job down or declined to even interview for the position. This, along with whatever happened with Harbaugh, Miles (twice), and Pelini, and I think its safe to say that coaches around the country don't think of Michigan as a top 3 or marquee job in college football.
I love it when Michigan fans get their panties in a bunch because some random guy didn't include them in his list of top 3 college football coaching gigs.
There isn't anyone on this board who will dispute the fact that Michigan has higher academic standards than most, if not all, universities fielding top level football teams. The ability to have high academic standards and field an elite level intercollegiate athletics program is what makes Michigan unique and special. Issues such as oversigning and pay for play certainly tilt the playing field against schools that choose to try and win with integrity. But that should not be an excuse to not try and be the best. Just because we are at a disadvantage does not mean we shouldn't make it our goal to win a national championship.
Rich Rod made some mistakes. I'm sure he would admit that. But he also had to put up with nonsense the likes of which no other Michigan coach has had to endure. It cost him his job. Don't kick a man when he's down.
Maybe I should have indicated that my previous post was intended to be sarcastic.
I thought pretty much everyone had come to the conclusion that DB isn't a liar, and when he said there would be no press conference that meant there wouldn't be a press conference.
You mean that there is no press conference??? But I read on the interwebz that there will be one today, so it MUST be true. I am so confused right now.
Couldn't agree with you more on Dan Mullen. Living in Florida, I hear Gator fans whine daily that they want Mullen back. If not Mullen, then Chris Peterson.
Alabama's second half performance was downright shameful. I'm confident Boise or TCU would hold their own against either Bama or AU if they played like they did today.
I have a friend that has a cousin that is from DC that said President Obama is growing dreads just like Denard in order to intimidate opposing defenses.
I'm assuming that you hadn't seen the moment in question when you made that post.
It was awkward because they were lying on the court, together, in front of 70,000 people. Huggins then proceeds to put his mouth about an inch from another mans mouth. For a moment I thought they were going to lock lips. So yeah, it was a bit awkward.
We all seem to agree that he is a defensive liability. I would also contend that his offensive numbers last season were a bit inflated, due to playing in the new Yankee Stadium. If the Tigers expect him to put up similar numbers, they will be disappointed. Not to mention the amount of money they are rumored to have offered him.

It's not about ego. It's about paying a competitive wage to attract the top candidates.
You don't stay at Missouri/Rutgers/Northwestern if one of the top 3 jobs in college football comes calling.

Gary Pinkel wouldn't even interview for the job.
Greg Schiano chose to stay at Rutgers over Michigan.
Pat Fitzgerald chose to stay at NW over Michigan.

To be fair to Mr Thamel, most big time college coaches would probably agree with him.

What type of offense did Tebow play in agian?

Really? Is it possible that Michigan fans actually believe this?
Why?
Could be because he has won a national championship and has consistently had success in the SEC.
Just my guess though. Call me crazy.
It took you this long to come to this conclusion?

But what if I really wanted to make another survey?
Oh well.
I'm pretty sure it's University of Florida not Florida University. Or UF and not FU.
Actually, I'm absolutely certain of this.
This team hasn't quit on RR and I think that says a lot about him as a person and a coach.
I couldn't have said it better myself.
I hope we go out and destroy our bowl opponent so all the haters will shut their mouths.
Exactly
I'm sure they meant next monday. One more week of speculation.
RR calls most of the plays anyways. Magee might want to go somewhere that he can have more input.

Why aren't they faster than us? I guess SEC speed only works on the football field.
They need to figure out who is doing the play by play and who is doing the color. To much talking over each other.
Wow, we sure do play a lot of games on Sep 3. Is that like a split squad spring training game?
Florida did okay when they hired Urban Meyer.

Not sure if there will be a live blog here or not. But if there is, they usually post links for a few decent quality streams in the live blog.
He is clearly intoxicated.

Urban Meyer didn't play at ND.
Hearing Keith Jackson brings back fond memories. I wish he could call every game on television.

If it's on the interwebs, then it must be true.
When I picture THE_KNOWLEDGE in my head, he looks a lot like the guy from the Dos Equis commercials. He is the most interesting man in the world.

Hopefully he and Pryor become buddies.
I didn't know that Dantonio had a Mgoblog screenname?
My only regret is that I have but one neg to give to this post.
I know this isn't one of the original options. But I think you should go with Tacopants.
