End of story.
|4 weeks 3 days ago||Chase winovich||
He was lifelong buckeye fan and ended up choosing Michigan. Kids are allowed to change their mind. It doesn't happen often for a lifelong fan but it does happen. Circumstances haven't exactly been in our favor after this past season.

desparate you say? I think that's all I needed to know about you!

I'm sorta on the fence about it. I actually like Richard Sherman. Yeah he tends to run his mouth a bit. He is one of the few who runs it and backs it up on the field with play. You can't argue with success and results are in the numbers. #1 pass defense in the NFL. That accolade is not an individual effort though.
So, do i think his onfield play warranted that reaction or justified it in the interview? Maybe. What needs to be understood is actions or swear words aside, you are a representative of the entire NFL organization. This game is broadcasted on a local channel and there are millions of kids watching. Do you want your kid to idolize Russell Wilson or Richard Sherman?
That being said, emotions were running high and he made a game winning play. I don't think telling Crabtree he is a sorry receiver was justified but given the situation, i think i will give him a pass unless this type of action starts becoming the norm for him.

Suppose the tryhards have to do something with their free time. Our coach is bigger than average size and likes food? Tell me how you came up with that brilliant conclusion! I'd be redirecting my thoughts I guess as well if i knew my college bball team was tanking. Ironically, Hoke has never had any health issues and Meyer has had plenty. I never understood why these blockheads find such great humor in that. I expected better from 11W...
Also.. I can't wait till Meyer does this to ohio st. as he did with Florida
compliments of LSUfreek of course.

Did this person not watch any of the bowl games.. I.E. Nebraska/Iowa come to my mind where they beat Georgia and hung in there till the very end with LSU.

That's the beautiful thing about this board. If i resist the urge to creep because of some rationality telling me to stop because it's absurd, even though deep down I really want to, there's always another member that has gone ahead and did your dirty work. Bravo.
|7 weeks 1 day ago||Kugler||
Kugler. With him, having taken a redshirt and his dad being an o-line coach for an NFL team, i'm sure he has the mechanics/technique down. I don't see how with our center shuffle last year that we would keep this kid off the field unless a "play the best player regardless of starting experience" approach is not taken.

The ability to play nearly as successfully away as we do at home would show great promise in the maturation of this michigan team. I think having a better overall away record would be a step in the right direction.
|7 weeks 2 days ago||I actually like them playing unranked||
I actually like them playing unranked. With the gauntlet coming up as mentioned, i'd like to beat the MSU's and OSU's with as much underdog perspective as possible. All they need to do is focus on each game at a time. With the schedule they are going to go through, if played well, the ranking will come. JUST WIN BABY!
|7 weeks 2 days ago||I like em both||
Morgan has been solidly improving every year that I've seen him play. he used to be so tentative under the hoop with his putbacks. Now you see him going up a little stronger. However, Horford has really been picking up the slack in McGary's absence. Hard to say but I think both deserve a fair share of play time till a clear winner emerges.
|7 weeks 3 days ago||Don't really know much about him but||
Don't really know much about him but hopefully he can turn our secondary into something consistent. Tired of seeing the long play given up.

It's sad to think that this stigma that surrounds Detroit isn't going to die in my life time.
Oh the pain.
|7 weeks 3 days ago||And i respect your opinion good sir||
And i respect your opinion good sir. I'm not asking anyone to like Tressel. Nothing excites me about how he threw all these violations under a blanket with the all cost mentality of beating Michigan and it worked. He beat a very successful highly favorited Miami team to win a NC in 2002. Worked too well because the violations Ohio St. got in the aftermath were hardly enough to account for the successes that brought his team. However, I am able to seperate the animosity from the collegiate to the pro level. I will freely eat my words if this turns into a blundered mess but eh, its the Lions, you can't go worse than 0-16 unless they add more games to the NFL schedule fortunately.
|7 weeks 3 days ago||I'd like both my wolverines and lions to win||
If it takes Tressel to do it, so be it. I didn't like the guy when he was playing against us either. Why? Because that sweater vest just was a symbol for defeat. LET NOW THE SWEATERVEST BE THE SYMBOL OF VICTORY.
Sarcasm, but seriously, get over it or don't watch the Lions, nobody is forcing you to be a fan.
Edit: And the groupthink strikes again, downvoted 5 times because individuals have this massive hatred for Tressel. I just envision an "Ace Ventura Lace's Out, Dan!!!" mural that must be impressive at these people's residents who freely neg because they don't share the same opinion. Lol Unbelievable.
|7 weeks 3 days ago||Great deal for him||
Great deal for him. It's absurd how handsomely baseball players get paid but hey if a team is offerin'...
|7 weeks 4 days ago||Agreed to a point||
Agreed to a point but historically it plays out if you get fired from the Lions, doesn't really matter who you are, it's a HC career execution sentence. I think most of that is the stigma that surrounds the team sadly.
|7 weeks 4 days ago||Small sample size||
Small sample size. I don't think it's fair to judge a coach based on 7 games. Plenty of teams start hot and cool down by the end of the season. This season's Lions *cough* rings a bell. Alternately, plenty of teams start cold and build momentum towards the end. Hell, how many times have we seen teams win the superbowl that didn't have impressive season records? Ravens and Giants as of recent come to mind. Packers as well.
To make a judgement on half a season is a little far fetched.
|7 weeks 4 days ago||if they had to wear pink to get back to a bcs bowl caliber||
If they had to wear pink to get back to championship contension then i don't care if its the bee revisited, pink, or what have you. Just give me my fall happiness back.
|7 weeks 5 days ago||Yes I do realize this is a Michigan sports blog||
Yes I do realize this is a Michigan sports blog. Most people who are fans of michigan college teams are fans of their own state's professional teams as well. Which is why you see posts about the Lions so much here. I just don't see the point in being irrational about a hire who hails from Ohio St. and had success there. Why does it matter as long as the guy wins? If he loses, it is what it is,we are no better off than we were. Whether our record is .500 or more, if we're not making the playoffs we aren't any worse off. Also, with what's left of the coaching pool, and considering we picked Caldwell, who's success under anything but Manning has been bleak, i feel that Tressel at least went out being a winner, albeit took a hit of character because of NCAA violations, but this is the NFL. Hopefully can bring some on -field success to a team that is historically ran themselves into the ground.
Apparently i am in the minority but I think I have a right to my opinion to want both of my teams to be successful. If you are an individual that wishes distraught on your own team because Tressel USED to be a rival coach a few years ago, then that's your opinion, as a fan. If you want to sulk about the hire because it's a coach from a well coached rival school, you can also have that opinion. I was just asking why people think this way.. but all i got was "because he coached Ohio St." Seems like a shallow reason but hey, to each his own I guess.
|7 weeks 5 days ago||So what you're saying is||
So what you're saying is, because he was head coach of Ohio, and successful against us largely, you feel that much disdain that you wouldn't want him to possibly be able to attribute some of that success to a team you now like? You would feel better if he was a huge loser at Ohio St. and came to the Lions? I guess i'm not bitter enough to think that way.
|7 weeks 5 days ago||So if we compare coaches to superheroes||
So if we compare coaches to superheroes, and the most positive thing Dungy can say is about how nice and good charactered our players will be, you know, instead of winning and bringing an explosive offense?
Well, I'd say this infers that we just hired Aqua Man.
|7 weeks 5 days ago||Just curious as to why Jim Tressel gets so much hate||
Just curious as to why Jim Tressel gets so much hate for a try at OC. He's had great success on-field. Sure his off the field antics and deceit were a blemish on his resume. But this is the NFL now, all that aside, what do we have to lose with him being OC? Worst case scenario: we do no better than we've done now. He may be a surprising upgrade. Are you really going to judge him negatively if he's winning?
|7 weeks 6 days ago||I actually think alot of Al's problem was||
I actually think alot of Al's problem was that we had a numerous amount of different "looks" for plays but we had no go-to bread and butter plays. This becomes especially worrying when you have basically a rookie o-line who really just needs to develop for the handful of staple plays to be successful rather than 50 different looks that you are trying to practice and learn such as a half back pass from vincent smith( i know it wasn't this year) or some other wild transition of single reverse to double reverse next play. It sounds like Nussmeier will bring those bread and butter plays that we can get solidify before attempting the more finesse/tricky plays.
|8 weeks 37 min ago||I don't think it's as bad as people think||
I don't think it's as bad as people think. I think Al would do a pretty good job running spread or manball looks with ND. They have alot of talent. That's never been an issue. Our offense look unstopabble when things were clicking. The problem was it looked absolutely atrocious when it wasn't.
Call it stubborn playcaling or maybe trying to ram a square peg in a round hole one too many times but I think with ND he will be able to call the plays and not have the same issues at ND.
|8 weeks 1 day ago||Watkins||
He's just so explosive and you won't find another wide receiver in the draft that comes close to what he brings playmaker wise. If he's there at 10, its a steal.
