Such a lame point of view on Shaw's part. Well, guys, it doesn't help Stanford so who cares about the kids getting opportunities to go to other schools. I did not expect that from him to be honest. Of course I am slightly biased because its Harbaugh that made this a phenomenon but realistically, any coach with any sort of morals should be able to understand the exact thing Hill had stated if it is really about the kids and it SHOULD be about dem kids.

A) Meek Mill, who is supposed to be as street as they come, came after Drake out of nowhere unprovoked.
B) Let's be honest, 2Pac and Big were close to equals as far as the rap game went. When Drake fired back at Meek, Drake was the underdog. But when you come out with the line "You gettin bodied by a singin' n****. I'm sorry, that's a 1 hit KO. Made Meek look flat silly for coming after Drake and destroyed his cred entirely. Everyone makes fun of Meek Mill now. Meanwhile, everyone still respects Big and 2Pac equally.
No question though.. the Biggie/2PAC feud is >>>>>>>> Drake/Mill feud.
|1 year 5 weeks ago||My point was that hit em up is not a good 2pac track.||
My point was that hit em up is not a good 2pac track. Yes, i get why you referenced it because it was a diss track aimed at Biggie. However, it was painfully obvious you didn't grow up during that feud if you called that "great music". To Live and Die in L.A. and California Love are way more fitting of that category. Either way, I am just busting your chops.

Hence, you couldn't ever appreciate the Biggie vs 2pac feud.
|1 year 7 weeks ago||Leave ND off the schedule||
Leave ND off the schedule. They need us more than we need them schedule wise. Until they join a conference, and have to actually participate in an extra championship game, they are only hurting themselves by taking us off their schedule. Hell, last year their schedule was pretty weak because all of the power teams they had scheduled (Texas, USC, etc.) weren't really ranked that high except for Clemson.
Why should we bend over backwards to renew that rivalry? Plenty of teams we could schedule that would be more interesting out of conference IMO.
|1 year 19 weeks ago||Denard by far||
He may not have fit the prototypical qb mold but his character and playmaking excitement were above and beyond. He stayed and weathered the horrible years of Michigan football and provided arguably one of the best nd rivalry victories I've ever seen. Without him, the excitement of seeing if/when he would break off that big run...well I just don't know if I would have even tuned in to Michigan football during those dark years. Seriously.

Let's face it. He knows the jig is up with Harbaugh here. He can't possibly look any better than the past few years while Michigan has struggled to find the right coach. He's taken advantage of that and he lucked out big time yesterday. The only way to go is down now for him. He leaves now and he goes out on top at MSU. If not, he may come back down to Earth very quickly. Therefore, If he's smart, he'll move on and take one of the USC jobs.

|1 year 23 weeks ago||He meant Wolvs'||
He meant Wolvs', as in short for wolverines. Not actual Wolves.
While I agree that it was sort of odd I highly doubt Herbstreit meant any disrespect. If anything, OSU has accused Herbie on many occasions that he didn't seem to be enough of a homer in their eyes.
|1 year 26 weeks ago||I suppose||
I suppose you are correct, there were more than a handful of games where they did score fast. That wasn't really my point. My point was there are greater merits to a skilled defense and mediocre offense vs a mediocre defense and a high powered offense.
Basically our current Harbaugh team vs RRod's as I described.
|1 year 26 weeks ago||Offense is more exciting to watch. But..||
Offense is more exciting to watch, ala the Denard era w/ RRod. It was always exciting to see the team score in a minute or so but you saw what that did to our defense. In that case, the combination of an inept GERG with a 3-3-5 and always having the defense on the field meant they were lackluster and so you watched a prevent-esque bend but don't break defense that didn't let any of our opponents score fast but also never really stopped our opposition from scoring. You know, the type of games that created scoring shoot outs with Indiana for example.
Which brings me to my point that I think you are overlooking the merits of a great defense. The ability to create turnovers ala interceptions and fumbles on your opponent's side of the field and giving your offense a chance to put points on the board in a vastly shorter field to drive to score. Makes for great scoring odds. If you have only a good offense, and a crap defense, you don't get that and you have to hope that the offense can drive the entire length of the field and odds are.. they can't do that all game.

I disagree. I don't think intensity can be generalized across the whole entire defense. To some degree sure but not entirely. Our secondary made Gary Nova look like Drew Brees reincarnated.

I'm sorta on the fence about it. I actually like Richard Sherman. Yeah he tends to run his mouth a bit. He is one of the few who runs it and backs it up on the field with play. You can't argue with success and results are in the numbers. #1 pass defense in the NFL. That accolade is not an individual effort though.
So, do i think his onfield play warranted that reaction or justified it in the interview? Maybe. What needs to be understood is actions or swear words aside, you are a representative of the entire NFL organization. This game is broadcasted on a local channel and there are millions of kids watching. Do you want your kid to idolize Russell Wilson or Richard Sherman?
That being said, emotions were running high and he made a game winning play. I don't think telling Crabtree he is a sorry receiver was justified but given the situation, i think i will give him a pass unless this type of action starts becoming the norm for him.

I actually like them playing unranked. With the gauntlet coming up as mentioned, i'd like to beat the MSU's and OSU's with as much underdog perspective as possible. Morgan has been solidly improving every year that I've seen him play. he used to be so tentative under the hoop with his putbacks. Now you see him going up a little stronger. |3 years 10 weeks ago||And i respect your opinion good sir||
And i respect your opinion good sir. I'm not asking anyone to like Tressel. Nothing excites me about how he threw all these violations under a blanket with the all cost mentality of beating Michigan and it worked. He beat a very successful highly favorited Miami team to win a NC in 2002. Worked too well because the violations Ohio St. got in the aftermath were hardly enough to account for the successes that brought his team. However, I am able to seperate the animosity from the collegiate to the pro level. I will freely eat my words if this turns into a blundered mess but eh, its the Lions, you can't go worse than 0-16 unless they add more games to the NFL schedule fortunately.
|3 years 10 weeks ago||I'd like both my wolverines and lions to win||
If it takes Tressel to do it, so be it. I didn't like the guy when he was playing against us either. Why? Because that sweater vest just was a symbol for defeat. LET NOW THE SWEATERVEST BE THE SYMBOL OF VICTORY.
Sarcasm, but seriously, get over it or don't watch the Lions, nobody is forcing you to be a fan.
Edit: And the groupthink strikes again, downvoted 5 times because individuals have this massive hatred for Tressel. I just envision an "Ace Ventura Lace's Out, Dan!!!" mural that must be impressive at these people's residents who freely neg because they don't share the same opinion. Lol Unbelievable.

|3 years 10 weeks ago||Agreed to a point||
Agreed to a point but historically it plays out if you get fired from the Lions, doesn't really matter who you are, it's a HC career execution sentence. I think most of that is the stigma that surrounds the team sadly.
|3 years 10 weeks ago||Small sample size||
Small sample size. I don't think it's fair to judge a coach based on 7 games. Plenty of teams start hot and cool down by the end of the season. This season's Lions *cough* rings a bell. Alternately, plenty of teams start cold and build momentum towards the end. Hell, how many times have we seen teams win the superbowl that didn't have impressive season records? Ravens and Giants as of recent come to mind. Packers as well.
To make a judgement on half a season is a little far fetched.

|3 years 10 weeks ago||Yes I do realize this is a Michigan sports blog||
Yes I do realize this is a Michigan sports blog. Most people who are fans of michigan college teams are fans of their own state's professional teams as well. Which is why you see posts about the Lions so much here. I just don't see the point in being irrational about a hire who hails from Ohio St. and had success there. Why does it matter as long as the guy wins? If he loses, it is what it is,we are no better off than we were. Whether our record is .500 or more, if we're not making the playoffs we aren't any worse off. Also, with what's left of the coaching pool, and considering we picked Caldwell, who's success under anything but Manning has been bleak, i feel that Tressel at least went out being a winner, albeit took a hit of character because of NCAA violations, but this is the NFL. Hopefully can bring some on -field success to a team that is historically ran themselves into the ground.
Apparently i am in the minority but I think I have a right to my opinion to want both of my teams to be successful. If you are an individual that wishes distraught on your own team because Tressel USED to be a rival coach a few years ago, then that's your opinion, as a fan. If you want to sulk about the hire because it's a coach from a well coached rival school, you can also have that opinion. I was just asking why people think this way.. but all i got was "because he coached Ohio St." Seems like a shallow reason but hey, to each his own I guess.
|3 years 10 weeks ago||So what you're saying is||
So what you're saying is, because he was head coach of Ohio, and successful against us largely, you feel that much disdain that you wouldn't want him to possibly be able to attribute some of that success to a team you now like? You would feel better if he was a huge loser at Ohio St. and came to the Lions? I guess i'm not bitter enough to think that way.

Just curious as to why Jim Tressel gets so much hate for a try at OC. He's had great success on-field. Sure his off the field antics and deceit were a blemish on his resume. But this is the NFL now, all that aside, what do we have to lose with him being OC? Worst case scenario: we do no better than we've done now. He may be a surprising upgrade. Are you really going to judge him negatively if he's winning?
|3 years 11 weeks ago||I actually think alot of Al's problem was||
I actually think alot of Al's problem was that we had a numerous amount of different "looks" for plays but we had no go-to bread and butter plays. This becomes especially worrying when you have basically a rookie o-line who really just needs to develop for the handful of staple plays to be successful rather than 50 different looks that you are trying to practice and learn such as a half back pass from vincent smith( i know it wasn't this year) or some other wild transition of single reverse to double reverse next play. It sounds like Nussmeier will bring those bread and butter plays that we can get solidify before attempting the more finesse/tricky plays.
|3 years 11 weeks ago||I don't think it's as bad as people think||
I don't think it's as bad as people think. I think Al would do a pretty good job running spread or manball looks with ND. They have alot of talent. That's never been an issue. Our offense look unstopabble when things were clicking. The problem was it looked absolutely atrocious when it wasn't.
Call it stubborn playcaling or maybe trying to ram a square peg in a round hole one too many times but I think with ND he will be able to call the plays and not have the same issues at ND.

Meanwhile they try to remind us at every point that we haven't won a Natty Championship since 97. Seems rather ironic to me. Sure they've had a heck of a run and this year is no exception. But everytime i look at any MSU board, it's constant shit talking about Desmond Howard, the UM fanbase, and spiteful comments towards anyone and everyone that disagrees with them. That's why i find it hard to take my hat off to them. You try to give them credit and they just resort to childish banter.
These threads constantly get created as if people are trying to be friends with the fanbase of MSU. Is it really necessary to kiss spartan ass all the time? Do we need to publically acknowledge every time they do something positive? When the tables turn eventually, just as every team's success eventually does, they will not give you the same level of respect. So why bother? Sites like RCMB just use this material to feed their own ego, especially from mgoblog. They eat this shit up and use it to talk trash about how pathetic they think our fanbase is. And quite honestly, these type of threads are pathetic.

Maybe I'm childish about this vote but I've pretty much AT LEAST every other year purchased EA NCAA football because I love to build a Michigan dynasty up and then when i'm done I like to take the little teams up from the depths of recruiting failure to become major contenders.
Now I know the cover vote won't change my actual gameplay but I'll be damned If I have to load that game up and wait 2 minutes with a loading screen of some random receiver who didn't even lead his team in receiving yards or receptions and notoriously got his fame through a fast 40 time.

TLDR: Both sides appear to be cheating but it's only been notoriously obvious because Denard has had a comfortable lead this whole time and now somehow Swope has ate up an almost 15k lead in one day.

This is great publicity for our program and for top athletes to see that if they go to michigan; they could be on the cover of EA some day going to a school like U of M. If we can put Denard on it he will be the third cover athlete representing U of M! Not bad at all!
|4 years 4 weeks ago||Not sure why this isn't||
Not sure why this isn't being promoted more. Having Denard on the cover of a video game is a great way to get up and coming children aware of Michigan and if EA sports, who kids buy games from year after year, gives us a cover athlete. It raises awareness of our tradition more. Just a thought. Keep pushin that vote guys!
|4 years 4 weeks ago||I'm hoping for Bulls..||
only because my GF parents are season ticket holders and I'd like a reason to get excited to go. Selfish as it may be, however, he may actually be a decent fit there since Rose can't seem to stay healthy..
|4 years 4 weeks ago||up by 9k as of now||
Still have a big lead but if any of you have connections as previously mentioned, to Longhorn U.. now is the time to rally them. Perhaps LSU too.. just don't want to buy a game with random white guy who ran a 4.3 40 so now he is a heisman winner in the eyes of Aggie country.

Against us but we're slowly catching up again..don't give up..I'd love to see the haters boycott buying the game lol

I could see manziel(not eligible) but swope isnt the face of Texas a&m. Denard is a great human and terrific athlete. Show your love by voting for him!!

'Nuff said bout his ability to lie through the teeth with a straight face.
|4 years 10 weeks ago||Losing this game is a minor nuance||
because I expected to lose a tough road game against one of these amazing big ten opponents. But fer god sakes these refs need to call fouls equally for both sides. We can win a 5 on 5 game, we can't win a 5 on 7.
|4 years 11 weeks ago||Look I live in South Bend||
and I loathe ND more than anyone on these boards with exception to others who live around this area as well. To say Brian Kelly didn't maximize their talent is underwhelming. Fact is he's been successfulevery where he has been.. GVSU, CMU, Cinci, and now ND. You can't do much better than taking an unranked team to the #1 in polls even if they did get blown out by bama. He's better for us gone than there. Winning is the recruiting elixir cure-all.
Beyond all this, Kelly often butts heads with the alums I know. He wanted field turf to compliment his spread style, jumbo-tron, and a new stadium in general for ND but the alums are against it because of the history of ND and they don't want to ruin the nostalgia. I wouldn't be surprised if Kelly left if the Eagles would give him more control than Notre Dame does. He has his hands tied with things at the mercy of alums on many things.

|4 years 11 weeks ago||Green and Smith + O-line||
THE RRod offense with Denard and their ability to score in a hurry was fun to watch. However, I am SUPER excited about the prospect of Green/Smith tandem 1-2 punch + amazing O-line = wearin out their defense and demoralizing them. It will be pure joy.

It's amazing how pets become our family members and we treat them as close and bond nearly as much as a child of our own. Prayers to you and Hunny. Keep your head up and stay positive for your wife and your Hunny!

To be fair I was at work and probably didn't go over it as thoroughly as one could have. Last thing I want to do is come off as a forum poster from that site so I fell for it Lol. Thanks for being gentle sir!
|4 years 14 weeks ago||How so?||
Because I don't remember using "Suck Eyes" and every other middle schoolish insult in my post ala Eleven Warriors such as "Walmart Wolverine", "TSUN", "scUM," or how they refer to Hoke as fat, etc. Maybe you should take a look in the mirror before you criticize.
Good job on trying to be witty, you almost got there.
|4 years 14 weeks ago||They've done their talking on the court||
Let it stay that way. Personally, one thing I love about our team is if we have one shooter that is cold, we have at least 2-3 more that can step up and score on our starting 5.
Few teams can boast that. And I've seen it night in and night out from our ball club.
|4 years 14 weeks ago||Eleven Warriors should just be honest..||
After reading much of the posts there, there was inherent RR praising and Hoke bashing. Now why do you think that is.. Gee Eleven Warriors.. let's see... probably because The Game was largely irrelevant during the RR tenure and you secretly LOVE it that way. So don't get on your high horses spouting off how much you respect RR then blindly bash Hoke. Now that we have Hoke, you bash him because you are scared we're going to put up a good challenge for the years to come.
I'm sorry I've read alot of Eleven Warrior forum posts and it screams, "I have the intellience quotient of a middle schooler" and the insults to boot.
|4 years 15 weeks ago||you mean similiar to mega 5* recruit Star Lotulelei from Utah?||
|4 years 15 weeks ago||Just speculating here but...||
Norfleet seems like a kid who wants to contribute in any way shape or form. His attitude seems pretty emphatic when returning kick offs and hell the kid just excites me when he catches the ball and runs it out the endzone on kick offs. Maybe he wasn't happy with only returning kicks a few times a game and was looking for other ways to contribute so he had a sit down with the coaches about the depth chart and decided to give him a shot at corner as possibly the thinnest position. Does it necessarily mean he can't return to running back if the need arises? I mean look at Gardner.. QB to WR back to QB in less than half of a season roughly...
|4 years 16 weeks ago||I think it's awesome||
that this board contributes to U of M sports as a whole, both women and men. Big part of the reason why I come here everyday. Honoring our favorite school's athletes.
That being said.. Big welcome Megan Betsa!
|4 years 16 weeks ago||That may be true now but he sure did a hell of alot for Michigan||
Which is ironic, because I don't remember him having any character issues whilst he was here.. but I guess maybe he had the spotlight so his ego coulda been satiated..who knows!

I'm pretty sure they care when the fan base takes it upon themselves to petition President Obama for a chance to go to the BCS championship..
|4 years 18 weeks ago||oh really?||
How am I throwing stones in a glass house? Stonum was kicked off the team. Was Floyd? no because he's a super star. We could have DEFINITELY used Stonum this year.
My point is we do have our fair share of student athletes that have had problems but we also don't sell ourselves as a religious and catholic school that upholds their students to the highest of moral values.
While my facts may have not been "completely straight"( and i apologize because I thought someone had mentioned before it was 3 DUI's for Floyd) the fact remains that U of M has held there students more accountable than the "we are catholics with standards as long as it's not a super star who can help us win at football."
Btw, do you live near South Bend? didn't think so.
In regards to Declan's death, it's easy to make a public statement and say you're holding your university accountable. Gee i wonder why... the kid shouldn't have been up there in the first place and he was scared shitless to be up there but was ORDERED to go up there. Do you really think after the investigation deemed them responsible that Notre Dame WASN'T going to hold themselves responsible publically? IT's a total PR move to make themselves seem not so tyrannical.
nice try though.
|4 years 18 weeks ago||Here's why the ND hate in a nutshell||
A college that claims to stands by and uphold it's religious beliefs as being a premier driving force for role models to a younger community and being the standard.
Well... that's all fine and dandy.. but..
1)within the last 3 years you've taken no responsibility for a student who plummeted to his death from a tower he should have never been on.
2) a recent WR who had 3+ DUI's who was still allowed to play for the program
3) a back up QB who ran from and assaulted cops at a party because he was drinking underage.
Beyond all that, there's a fanbase that is so snooty that if they lose its everyone else's fault and if they win; its pure skill. You can never win an argument of logic with the ND fan base.
It's the most annoying community to ever be around and i'll be glad when I can uproot and leave South Bend.
|4 years 19 weeks ago||Coming from someone who resides in South Bend...||
and as much as I hate OSU, I can honestly say i hate ND way worse than OSU. They are the biggest pack of whiners I've ever heard. Everyone complains how terrible the officiating is and how they got cheated every year since 1992. Now that they've lucked themselves into narrow and questionable wins vs. BYU, Stanford, Purdue, Michigan, and Pittsburgh.. All i hear is how hard their schedule is and why aren't they in the talk for national championship? it's such a snide university that even though Notre Dame is in South Bend..their campus has their own postal code and they consider themselves as Notre Dame, Indiana and disassociate with South Bend.
Be careful what you wish for, time for Bama to roll and ND to disappear back into the depths of irrelevance for another 20 years.

Might be first time since the Fab 5 era that I've genuinely felt damned good about the well roundedness and possibilities of our basketball program. YAY!
|4 years 21 weeks ago||I'm kind of surprised that||
Devin wasn't taking a decent amount of snaps anyways. Last i knew he was adamant about QB being his primary position and WR being temporary. If that's the case, he had to be chomping at the bit when Denard went down to get in there..
|4 years 21 weeks ago||I think we all need to take a step back..||
And just let Hoke and the rest of the staff handle this situation in whatever manner they think is best. We can all sit here and arm chair ideas about the no-visit policy and what we coulda, woulda, shoulda done but the fact of the matter is: these are kids. Kids who haven't been U of M fans since the glory days. Kids who didn't grow up watchin U of M to understand how deep the tradition runs and how deep the rivalries run.
That being said: Mr. Conley, as others have stated, is 17 and he has a huge decision to make. He isn't taking visits at OSU to spite anyone; he's simply trying to do what's best for him and while I'd love for him to take a step back and realize we recruited him for Mich before he received all those offers from OSU and the garnering interests of Oregon, I also can't EXPECT him to. We have no idea what these kids go through in this process. And honestly, I track recruits and hang on there every move as much as anyone who loves U of M and wants the best for our favorite school but stay calm...
Best of luck to Conley wherever he goes; at least he is planning on talking with Hoke. Coach Hoke and staff are doing an amazing job and will continue to, despite what happens with the final signings of the class of 2013.

I know he's only a freshman but it will give us a small sneak preview of what we can see developing for the future.. After all, who expected Funchess to make waves like he did early on without the lack of TE depth?
