Yeah...

Yeah Sam Bradford says hi as he signs a 20 millon dollar contract. I think Eric Weddle said it best (and pay close attention to the last part) :

And....

And just to piggyback of that thought.....if it would be the "demise of ESPN" that would mean a WHOLE lot of channels would also go bye bye because let's not get it twisted....a lot of these channels are around because they were able to be bundled with ESPN.

I mean I get it....some of the programming on ESPN turns some people off. Some people don't like this talking head and some people don't like this or that format. I get it. But ESPN has been a linch pin in sports for how many decades now?!? They have to change the formay model sure...but its the only channel where we can get all our sports in one place almost. They have NBA, NHL, NFL and college sports. Now unless Fox is going to make a bid on all those...it ain't happenin. And sure you can get the individual packages for all those sports ...but how much is that going to cost you.

I think a lot of people would pay 10.00 a month to have ESPN, ESPN 2, ESPNU, ESPNEWS as long as they were able to get live action sports when they aired. Hell Disney as a stand alone is going to clean up when that streaming service starts. How are parents going to say not to their kids and as parents....they figure i can get the disney stream and not have to worry about any inappropriate movies or shows coming on because....well its Disney.

One thing is for sure....times are a changin....

These Drop Tomorrow...

Thanks!

Thanks for Embedding...wasn't quite sure how to...

Which One's??

 Which one's are you waiting on and do you have any links or pics of them??

At Least.....

At Least MSU got a written report that can be read and examined and show some accountability. What did Baylor do again.....?? Just not even a close comparison as to what is going on in Waco in my view....

With All Due Respect....

Trust me Stringer.....This has nothing on Baylor. Keep in mind there are 9 Title IX Lawsuits currently going on against Baylor. They have been through at least two Title IX Coordinators since this started and they quit/resigned because they got NO cooperation from the Baylor Administration. This also doesn't take into account the recent allegation that Freshman Football players had an initiation where they assaulted one of the Volleyball players at a party and filmed it and that was swept under the rug. Baylor has a serious cloud above it at least in the eyes of a lot of people here in Texas.....

Well.....

Well those higher rated recruits that wait may get squeezed out if the numbers don't work out or their school that they want to go may run out of scholarships. Or... you'll have a lot more schools oversign which could result on a bigger spotlight on that issue.

This Brings Two Things to the Forefront

One thing is.....how will the NCAA deal with position coaches leaving after an early signing period? A lot of kids are closer to their position coaches that will coach them and by and large part recruit them. How will that be dealt with because once they leave...kids may have a change of heart/mind....

Second thing is.....this is really going to have coaching staffs being a bit more strategic in how many kids they can accept in the early signing period. You only have space for two-three kids after early signing period...limits you in who you can go after on the final signing day. Will be interesting to see how some kids will be slow played and others priorotized....

OUCH!

As a Texas alum and having watched the majority of their games this past season...I can't argue with you on that....LOL!

That aside....doesn't it bring into question the core and integrity of the game?? I mean isn't this why "De-flate gate" was such an issue because it messed with the game? Or why New England got nailed for "Spygate" because its presumed a team is gaining an unfair advantage over another which in my opinion this is. Hell even the Cardinals got into trouble for hacking the Astros database and obtaining information.

Here Is The Thing.....

Something that seems to be over looked here....is that this guy had been doing this for awhile. Louisville wasn't THE ONLY team to receive this type of information. So the question will become...who else benefited from this guy's underhanded tactics.

One other thing....does anyone think had Coach Strong still been the coach he would have used this? I don't. Especially after looking at how he ran the Texas program. So this is on Petrino and his coaches and its something I'm curious if the NCAA will make them answer for in some form or fashion.

Welcome

Welcome! Glad to hear that you'll take me up on my suggestions. By all means...I'd be glad to hear your feedback or thoughts on them as well.

I would have recommended another one on Netflix called "13th" which is about the 13th Amendment but I have yet to watch it and have only heard about it. Everything I heard says its very good though. I plan on sitting down with my son to watch it since he is 18 now and this will be his first election in which he can vote. Hopefully it will give him some perspective and how important it is that he votes and pays attention and takes part in the political process no matter how turned off by politics he maybe.

Like you I'm always looking to learn...especially from other perspectives and viewpoints.

There are....

There is a documentary on HBO that came out last year called "Southern Rites" it is well worth your time. There is also one called "Prom Night in Mississippi" which was done by Morgan Freeman and that one is just as good if not better. You think you don't want to leave the house after reading that ESPN article...watch those two documentaries and you will have an even greater perspective. If you do watch...which I hope you will...take note of the years in which they take place.....you will shake your head in disbelief.

And one more in case your feeling froggy....there is a new documentary that just debuted last week or week before last called "Class Divide". Although it is not on the same level of the two I mentioned because it is more money centric it is poignant in how the young people today are dealing with issues they are faced with and it takes place in New York. Very very good.

And...

And to piggyback off of your thought....I have yet to hear a compelling reason why the teams aren't ranked until after say the first four weeks of the season. Or rank the teams before conference starts. Yes that would mean that some teams can't start the season off against conference opponents.

So

So you do realize that UofH, Rice, Tech, Baylor, TCU, Texas, A&M, SMU were ALL in conference together at one point or another and recruiting wasn't an issue. Hell TCU wasn't part of the Big 12 until recently. This whole notion adding UofH would dilute anything is suspect. Now call it for what it is...OU, Oklahoma State, Kansas, Kansas State and Iowa State were the schools pissing and moaning about UofH. Texas, TCU, Baylor are going to get theirs. They could care a less. Its those other schools that I mentioned that are plain scared. Period. Chief complaint among those schools was the fact that UofH's roster was comprised primarily of kids within a 50 mile radius of Houston. Which meant that Coach Hermann didn't have to travel at all if much to recruit his kids. Where OU, Oklahoma State, Kansas, Kansas State and Iowa State have to travel so much and so far to get kids out of Texas...they saw it as an unfair advantage. Which is garbage.

And The Funny Thing Is

And the funny thing is.....if Saban had said the same thing....it would have been "Saban is dialed in and a coach that will have his team focused and prepared"

I think....

 I think you vastly underestimate Texas' ego in all of this. They aren't going to cowtow to anyone...Let alone BYU. Keep in mind all of the tournaments the Big 12 would have to schedule around Sunday for BYU. Which would vastly alter a lot of students being able to attend those events because they won't be able to schedule games (baseball, volleyball, basketball, soccer, softball etc.) BYU is going to have to start to give on the issue of Sundays if they want a seat at the Power 5 table. Simple as that.

I Don't...

I don't think Strong is in as much hot water as a lot of people let on. He runs a clean program and is recruiting well. He just needs the wins and I really think Texas is going to give him the opportunity to win there. This will be his third season and to turn it around at Texas he will need a good four years in my opinion.

Actually

Actually...there are a lot of LSU fans and alumni here (Houston) believe it or not. They sell out every time they are here for any reason (Kickoff Classic or Bowl Game). Couple that in with A&M being in the SEC....now you have a decent size SEC following here. Matter of fact there are numerous LSU bars here that are regularly filled with their fans on Saturdays and pretty much take over said bar. LSU does recruit the Houston area well and Texas as a whole pretty good too. Adding Houston might get the Big 12 a larger tv market share since the SEC has taken over the ratings here.

That's the Thing

That's the thing......Texas doesn't have to be on top in the State for recruiting. There is enough top talent here that Texas could take 25 of the top kids in the state and there still would be talented enough kids to go around. They were the top dog this last recruiting cycle surging to a Top 10 class on signing day and then moved up a couple more spots once the Baylor defections were accounted for.

Just as an example....look at how many Texas kids OU and LSU have already for the 2017 cycle. Its ridiculous. But...when its all said and done....provided a decent to a good season...Texas is still projected to finish strong in the state and has an outside chancce at some out of state kids as well.

Texas' issue is the Longhorn Network. That seems to be the stumbling block and Texas won't budge off of it. Nor should it. Just like Notre Dame won't give up its NBC money to move to conference. Texas has some arrogance....I can see some of the powers that be want to move to be independent and schedule accordingly. Doubt it will happen...but I'm sure the thought has crossed their minds.

What....

What you seem to be forgetting is that ESPN/FOX don't want to pay two more teams let alone four more teams to the Big 12. How it goes is....if the Big 12 adds any team...the networks have to pay out 20 million to each school that they add. Networks aren't too happy about it because the presumption is NONE of those schools move the needle in terms of tv sets except maybe Houston and BYU. So to add 4 schools would mean 80 million in pay outs and there is no way any combination of 4 schools would get those ratings to justify that kind of payout.

Well...

 Well there are some political reasons for Texas wanting UofH. Texas recently bought a large parcel of land near the Medical Center here to build a satellite campus/facility of sorts and UofH got wind of it and aiming to block it.

 It would seem through some backdoor channeling the word is UofH would step aside if Texas gives their blessing or helps them get into the Big 12:

@ UM Fan from Sydney

They will also have a release from Footlocker although according to their release calendar won't be until Monday. So in case you can't get them from Nike either you may be able to grab some from Footlocker then. The MDEN limited quantities worries me also. I read somewhere where they don't think they will last the day at their store.....so it will be dicey to get a pair from them to say the least.

@ken725

I don't think either of them look too bad actually. I wouldn't put one over the other I suppose. I do like the one's the players had on better than either of those though.

@samsoccer7

They actually have 10 schools already released. I think OSU, FSU, Alabama, Oregon, MSU, Georgia, Texas among others. I think Wolverine Devotee has found some info that they are but I haven't seen it on any release calendars yet. Hopegully they will.

@ken725

Yes...those very well could be. Baumgardner had a pic (David Long's locker) of those on MLIVE on August 1st. I'd rather have those to be honest but if they aren't releasing them will have to go with the other AJ Trainer Low's.

@ UM Fan from Sydney

I'm really on the fence about getting those! Wolverine Devotee indicates there will be a Trainer 5.0 Michigan Version dropping in a few weeks so not sure which one's to go with. Really tempted to pull the trigger though!

@natesezgoblue

Those are the same one's being released at MDEN tomorrow. There were a pair of shoes that the players and Harbaugh were wearing at the unveiling that I was trying to see if there was going to be a release. Also, Wolverine Devotee indicates that there will be a release of the above pictured (Oregon Version) Flywire Trainer 5.0 in the coming weeks. Thanks for the Footlocker info though...I didn't know they were going to have the AJ Trainer Lows.

Thanks!

I have seen those on the Nike site and Football Fanatics and was wondering if Michigan was going to get a version. I will keep an eye for those or if you could give a heads up on the board when you get a firm release date it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for the info!

@ Wolverine Devotee

 Do you have any info on the AJ Trainer's or the shoes (can't remember the name of them) that Harbaugh and some of the players were wearing at the unveiling? Not the AJ Trainer Low's that are going on sale tomorrow. Any insight to this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Thanks!

So did they indicate if the AJ Trainer 1 be available at some point as well?

Question on AJ Trainer Shoes

@Wolverine Devotee

 Quick question...the Nike website has a picture of the AJ Trainer Low that says coming soon. Do you know if or when those will be available and the name of the shoes that some of the players and Harbaugh had on yesterday at the Jersey unveiling? They definetly weren't the AJ Trainer Low's. Thanks in advance for any insight you might have on this.

So the question now is....

So the question now is.....Every Power 5 Conference has a Championship game. That means the odds of some conference  or conferences getting left out will increase. Who is it going to be and don't let the SEC get two teams in...where a Big 10 or Big 12 team gets left out. I mean if Alabama were to lose the SEC Championship and still get in the playoff....then what? Because we all know Alabama somehow magically gets penciled in with the committee.

Uhhhh

might want to add Denzel Washington Samuel L. Jackson....jus sayin...

LOL!

Wasn't that porrage?!?! lol

Check out Chuck F'N Strong Twitter Handle

I implore you to check a twitter handle known as ChuckF'NStrong (in relation to Charlie Strong, head football coach at The University of Texas at Austin. It is on equal footing with Faux Peliini and you will surely not be disappointed.

Really

What part in Alief did you reside in and what year did you gradute?

Might I add...

and hope you don't mind me piggybacking off your comment but I would add this...

what makes it look so bad in Detroit is as Oliver pointed out....this gets voted and approved on and then the City of Detroit files for bankruptcy. That's not a good look. But as he mentioned...its not a reason to hate on the owners...but it does leave a sour taste and stinks. And yes....to decry government regulation and is restricting and the tax code is so horrible business have to headquarter overseas but then turn around and ask for the tax incentives and cry poverty is shady.....

Sooooooo

why hasn't Cook been "suspended indefinetly" or a statement about his actions within the past month or so been brought to Jimbo Fishers doorstep......how is he even still on the team at this point.....

 Fisher has had some sleepless nights this summer for sure....

Unreal

you would think after the Hardy, Rice, Clark, McDonald, Petersen his own teammate these guys would learn.....but....

With all do respect to Jimbo Fisher and he is probably one hell of a coach and a great guy....but when is he going to get called out for not having better control over his program? Is FSU not in the lead with Fulmer Cup points? Off the top of my head....that is at least 5 players in trouble with the law/charges since at least last year....

wait....

He was responding to someone's question on twitter....he never implied or speculated anything about going to the NFL......you might want to direct that to the person that asked him that on twitter as to why they would ask him that....

Andrus Peat

Just a small note...but Burnt Orange Nation has Peat coming in for a visit soon and that Connor Brewer is going to make the trip with him to Texas. This is something to keep an eye on because Mack Brown is notorious for getting kids on campus and having them commit. Plus with Brewer there it will be another person in his ear. Rarely does Mack come out of Texas to recruit....but when he does...he does so with a purpose....and getting Brewer was a priority...you can bet getting Peat is just as much as a priority so he will be putting on the full court press......

Have to Disagree with Brian

Have to disagree with Brian on the statment  "Most of the letter-writers are dead now since they were already watching Matlock 20 years ago, but you don't have to be in the KKK to think Webber's actions badly hurt the program. " Doesn't matter if the letter-writers are dead now....point is those letters were written and sent. It's kind of swept under the rug to some extent and pay no mind to those people. Truth is truth....those letters were ugly and the U of M family should be ashamed that occured. Those letters were being sent to some 18-19 year old kids that are coming into their own and this is how they are treated by some if the esteemed U of M alum??... And keep in mind...those were sent before the Chris Webber, Louis Bullock and Traylor allegations. No matter how you spin it ...it was wrong and as much as the Michigan fan base prides themselves on being the leaders and the best...some of our alum sure weren't during that time......

Right....

@aaamichfan-

Absolutely beauty is in the eye of the beholder. At this point...right now...OU has the beauty. If Michigan had the beauty with Mattison then Kris Frost and Leilon Willingham would be Blue. All there is to it.

Do I think RJS will go Blue...not sure. Hope he does...but time will tell. The question posed earlier is if OU is the better offer and I believe it is at this stage of the recruiting game. And that is hard for me to say because I despise OU witha a passion....but I am not that blinded to see that they are a perennial Top 10 team year and year out. Michigan has lost that status in my view. I think they will get it back....but reality is .....right now..they are going to be on the outside looking in on some of these kids (not necessaily RJS) and this is what Hoke is in charge of doing right now.....changing that perception....and getting Michigan back as a force on the recruiting trail...

Wait

@aaamichfan

With all due respect....OU will be a top 5 team next season. OU was #1 at one point last season. OU just had the number one overall pick and had that pick go and become the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year. OU has not been out of the Top 25 in I don't know how long...and even when Bradford went down...they still were able to stay in the Top 25 if I am not mistaken. I think OU's offer is bigger than Michigan's at this point. Believe me I am in Big 12 country and hate OU with a passion....but they always have top notch LB's year in and year out and their defense tends to rank pretty high year in and year out.....And better believe if he RJS is on their radar he is on a lot of other teams radar as well.

So....

So just wondering....what is the punishment for oversigning? Who regulates oversigning the NCAA or the Conference themselves? Why is there one set of rules for the Big Ten and one for the SEC?

Reason being is in looking at oversigning.com I noticed USC had an uptick on its signings this recruiting class as well. Now that could be because they are getting ready to take a hit once their appeal comes through but it is a loophole schools are going to really start to exploit if not closed.

Why is there not a hard number in place is my question. For every number over the hard number a school should have to submit in detail as to why they went over that number. Every scholarship kid that leaves a football program should go through an exiting process that list the reasons why a student athlete is leaving the program and the circumstances behind them leaving. A criteria should be met and once that process is completed then the school should be awarded that scholarship back...and it should be rewarded in the corresponding recruiting season. And put a max of three per recruiting class.

And of Course Hail to the Victors!
Thanks Thanks...... Just was thinking along the lines that "dead period" meant no contact at all.
Mack is the ultimate Mack is the ultimate salesman. He gets these kids to buy in. What position do you think Orakpo. Kindle started out at...LB. He got Chiles to move to WR even though he was the backup QB to Colt...and Chiles got there at the same time as Colt and made the switch to WR last season. Look I am not saying coaches don't give kids the heads up before they get to school...I am just pointing out...once they get there...coaches see them in another position as a better fit....it is then up to that coach to sell that player on that switch and buy in.
