Scrimmage Video 3-31

Just watching the scrimmage video from March 31 and Demens definitely has a cast on his wrist. He's also definitely playing. I'm guessing it's an April Fools joke, but he has enough evidence (the cast) to scare people.

The cast can clearly be seen around the :21 or :22 second mark of this video:

Strong VPN

I live in China and use StrongVPN to access YouTube/Facebook/Twitter.

I checked with March Madness Live on CBS and it works great. Recommended if you're willing to drop the money for the VPN.

Oh awesome, I love the Camel.

Oh awesome, I love the Camel. Didn't realize they played college football. I'm not a huge Bubba's fan but I thought that was the only spot that played college football live.

If Boxing Cat would get on board w/ live college football I'd be there every Sunday morning.

Shanghai

I also live in Shanghai. What bar were you watching it at? Bubbas?

I live in China and us a US

I live in China and us a US proxy to get on Facebook, YouTube, etc, but US proxies only work occasionally for ESPN3 if the IP address you get happens to be one that uses an internet provider that offers ESPN3 (they give you a different IP each time you connect). In my experience it works roughly half the time.

Pontel?

Is the company you're referring to called Pontel? My family used to order those years ago while living in the Philippines and Singapore. We still have a full VHS set of the 1997 season floating around somewhere. At one point I thought that set might be worth something, or at least a rarity. Then YouTube happened.

You're right though...I'm still living overseas and the game watching situation has been getting better and better every year.

Beilein loves the hollow out

Beilein loves the hollow out strategy, but with Minnesota's shot blockers and Morgan on the bench with 2 fouls we aren't gonna get many bunnies by the rim. Pair that with Minny giving us wide open looks from 3 and we should take them.

With Minny's bigs the alternative is shooting 15'-18' jumpers, which I doubt we'd hit at a higher rate.

Like it or not, taking open 3's will be our best chance to finish the game with a W.

Fo reals?

Sweet! Looking forward to hearing about it.

3 more bubble teams get in

3 more bubble teams get in the tournament this year now that it has moved to 68, so we can have a marginally less impressive resume and still get in.

Vogrich's Offer Sheet

I randomly found myself on Vogrich's Rivals profile the other day wondering how heavily recruited he was and I wouldn't say he was "hardly" recruited. It lists offers from some decent high major basketball schools including Wake Forest, Georgia Tech, Stanford, Baylor, etc, as well as some smaller schools that seem to always pop up in the tournament like Valpo, Drake, or Bucknell.

So while not the a ton of TOP schools, he had a fairly solid offer sheet.

A few ideas

Hey, I live in Shanghai and I know there are 1 or 2 bars here that are going to show the game on replay the day after, you might find some in Beijing that will do the same if you don't mind avoiding finding the score for a few hours. I'm not sure if you'll find any that are open at 3:30am to see it live though.

Maybe try calling a few bars mentioned on this forum (though it is 4 yrs old).

I know nothing about the sports bar scene in Beijing, but a quick search found this place. Maybe give them a call.

If worse comes to worse, just watch on NBC.com at an LAN center since you don't have a computer handy. I know you'll be able to find one open 24 hours, you'll just have to deal with wading through the Chinese gamers. The NBC live stream will work in China, I've checked today to make sure and I can watch ND/Purdue no problem, so it should work.

EDIT: I failed at reading too and didn't see you couldn't get in the internet cafes.

If you were in Shanghai I'd invite you to watch it at my place.

Thanks!

Thanks for your help. I'm leaning towards getting one now.

Last season I was abroad as well and paid ESPN360.com something like $25/month for the duration of the season and only could watch the games on the ESPN networks, and for some reason they did not show the OSU game! Very irritating. Now the service is no longer even available in Asia.

I'm living out of the country

I'm living out of the country and have been thinking of ordering a Slingbox and sending it to my parents house. While researching this a bit I thought I read that if you want to use it on a laptop, for example, you need that laptop connected to the slingbox or router or something for the initial set up.

Is this accurate? Do I need to be at my parents house with my computer during set up, or would it work if they just set it up for me? As I don't think I'll be in the US at all during football season I wouldn't be able to be there to set it up.

When? I played one year of JV basketball at Calvin my freshman year, 2004-05 (graduated '08). Were you there at that time?
It may happen I happen to know that certain Calvin admins are advocating for a football program. Still a long shot, but some people want it.
Go Knights! Calvin is a great place, I enjoyed my four years there! Go Knights!
China I live in China and my understanding is that Hulu is blocked everywhere outside of the US (except maybe the UK) for copyright issues. Dailymotion doesn't appear to be working either. The worst is that China blocks YouTube so I can't watch all those swanky HD highlights of Gardner.
Agreed I was married September 20 last year, the bye week between the ND and Wisconsin games. Also, the wife agreed on a smaller wedding cake so I could have a groom's cake at the wedding, which is my avatar picture.
Like this one I like the understated design of this one. Would consider buying. I just hope Demetrius Hart commits so I can break out the ol' "I ♥ ♥" shirt.
English in Singapore is very English in Singapore is very good, though there is a distinct Singapore accent. The locals do speak Singlish, an English/Mandarin hybrid, amongst friends. but just about everyone you meet can turn the Singlish off when they speak to foreigners.
Jakarta International School? Did you by chance go to JIS? I went high school at Singapore American School and played basketball, volleyball and softball against JIS.
Wife. Got one. Girlfriend too? That would be quite a distraction. :)
Great Thread Born in Evansville, IN, but moved a lot growing up (Japan, Philippines, Singapore). Inherited my UM fanhood from my dad who is an alum. First became emotionally invested during the Fab Five days when I was 6 or 7 years old. During the 1993 NCAA Final against UNC I was too young to stay up and watch the game against UNC (the timeout game) so my parents left a note by my brothers' and my alarm clock that said UNC won and I woke up devastated. At age 7 moved to Japan and a few years after that in 1997 while living in the Philippines my dad decided to order VHS tapes of all the Michigan football games from a service called Pontel which would tape NCAA football and NFL games for people living overseas. My brothers and I would avoid finding out the results of the games (not hard to do living in Manila in 1997) until the tapes came about a week late. It was great to watch that magical season while being able to fast forward through commercials (before TiVO!). I distinctly remember sitting in my humid family room in Manila watching that Woodson INT vs MSU. By the time I was in high school I lived in Singapore and the internet was prevalent, so I would wake up at midnight (for noon games) or 3:30 am (for afternoon games) on Saturday night/Sunday morning to listen to the online radio stream live. I was glad to be able to watch the games on TV live when I returned to the US for college in 2004. Now living in China though, so I'm back to waking up in the middle of the night for games.
I need a distraction Each day of this countdown makes me feel like Sept 5 is still an eternity away. I'm investing way too much time thinking about the upcoming season.
I'd prefer last year's format I'm living out of the country so I'll be depending on these mgovideo to watch (or rewatch if I'm able to find a live stream) most of the games. Unfortunately, my computer can't handle 720p, as I just figured out when I downloaded a 720p torrent of the US v. Spain Confed Cup game, so I'd prefer the same format as last year. Thanks for all the effort w/ mgovideo.
