Landline and so no texts.
|1 day 17 hours ago||As they should||
A lot of what we all write is sarcastic and meant to be funny, but there is honest serious discussion here that the AD would never be able to get otherwise.
|2 days 15 hours ago||Of course it does.||
I don't care about the "Chinese walls", but the fact is that a $3M+ a year drop in revenue needs to be offset somehow.
It could be as simple as student fees going to places other than the AD or not needing the school to subsidize band scholarships or travel costs.
You don't just lose $3M+ a year and continue as if nothing happened.
|2 days 15 hours ago||Probably Nike||
as the Army doesn't have a ton of MBAs in marketing running the show.
|2 days 16 hours ago||Agree,||
We could probably get $5 out of Nike, but I don't think much more. Nike doesn't seem to want to jump into the race with Adidas and UA for paying tons of cash. My guess is that their strategy is to spend money on other things.
Regardless, >$30 million to choose Nike is crazy and there is no way Hackett can justify this when tuition is going up and state funding is going down.
|2 days 16 hours ago||Decent deal for UGA||
They are getting close to $4M, and apparantly the most Nike has paid anyone is $4.4M (to FSU).
Adidas pays Michigan $8.2M, so it's not even close.
Put another way, even if Nike comes in and pays Michigan $5M (which would be their most expensive school), Michigan is still short $3.2M per year or $32 million in the 10-year period, assuming Adidas doesn't up their offer.

|3 days 13 hours ago||I only have my job||
because I graduated from Michigan and worked at a firm that only hires from top schools (no OSU/ Bama grads) and then got hired in my current position because of Michigan and my prior firm.
Sort of convoluted.
But seriously, for you older people out there, there used to be a large investment bank, DLJ (now part of CSFB) that loved hiring Michigan grads because we were thought to be far more hungry than Ivy league grads.
|3 days 13 hours ago||My question is||
that if a kid needs 2-3 playing years in college in order to develop into an NBA player, then freshman ineligibility means that the kid is in school for 3-4 years, thus earning a degree or only being a short # of credits away from one.
It's stupid of a conference to impose this rule, but maybe not for the NCAA. Take a guy like Darius Morris. He played 2 years and then went to the NBA. If he were forced to sit his freshman year, then he would have 3 years of college (plus summers) complete and would be short maybe a semester's worth of credits. That's a good thing.
I guess the thing is that you have to believe that he would not have sat his freshman year, had the same sophomore year and then jumped to the NBA.
|3 days 13 hours ago||Does mine qualify?||
I went from working imigrant parents to stuntin in my middle management corporate job in suburbia all because or my Michigan degree?
|3 days 15 hours ago||I feel very similarly as you do||
and have no military service whatsoever.
I think part of the protest bythe Muslim Students (or anyone) is that it gets them noticed and therefore its more likely that something will change. I mean without the protest, there are no Mlive articles, no 200+ post thread on MGo, no meeting with Harbaugh...
I don't know if they really believe that nobody should see the movie or are just saying so because it gets airtime (not a bad thing).
|3 days 16 hours ago||Hopefully,||
Michigan is not like the NFL and isn't taking payment for this.
|4 days 10 hours ago||you probably have to be a member||
of the Alumni Association.
|4 days 11 hours ago||Shouldn't be tenure based||
I wouldn't judge loyalty simply by tenure, because some assistant coaches are not desirable by other schools. If nobody wanted to poach say Fred Jackson, then him staying for so many years isn't as meaningful. Now, if he turned down multiple job offers, it's a different story.
|4 days 12 hours ago||Maybe,||
but if he faces NCAA sanctions...
|4 days 13 hours ago||Maybe,||
but then you get guys like Mike Cox and Ryan Mundy who were able to play in the NFL because they transferred.
|4 days 14 hours ago||It's where I went to school||
In no part due to athletics. It was just the best school I could get into. I wasn't even a college sports fan pre-M.
|5 days 3 hours ago||No.||
"JH got out just in time?"
The players got out before they became losers! Boom!
|5 days 4 hours ago||Panter||
Is always mentioned, but he only went to a JUCO, because he went to a tiny high school that had like 7 on 7 football. It wasn't because of grades or getting into a school.
|5 days 13 hours ago||Nice.||
I just emailed the PA camp and will post their reply.

Where you are location wise and how/ who you roll with
|6 days 4 hours ago||It's posturing on both sides||
And rightfully so. I think Michigan can't turn down the additional money simply because there is no way to make it up
