He did start the last three…

He did start the last three games after Zinter went down, but only played one quarter against OSU. His other stats were mostly as the 6th lineman so lack of sacks, etc. is not really relevant for those.  Also, he was exclusively at Right Tackle in his three starts.

I was on Brian's "Play Trente Jones!!" train from Spring training on, so I think he is an excellent talent, but a season of starting would look very good on his draft resume AND I'd would love to have him anchoring a brand new starting five.

Attention Trente Jones! …

Attention Trente Jones!  This could be you as well. Come back for a full year as the starter and your draft stock will soar.

Question about the new…

Question about the new coaching staff. We have usually had two secondary coaches - CBs and Safeties. So far it seems like the guy from Louisiana is the only one, and by designating the ST coach as only that, there is no room for another DB coach. Jaybaugh would always lead the Special Teams AND (at least partially) coach a position: TE, RB or Safety.

Super Bowl MVP for a kick…

Super Bowl MVP for a kick-off return. Other than some good returns, his career as a WR was very disappointing. Seems like a great guy and a true credit to the Maize & Blue. But he was such an amazing receiver in college that it was a huge surprise that it did not transfer to the NFL.
Happily he landed on his feet as a terrific TV personality.

It is absolutely wrong to do this... if it is true.  I do not want to believe that Jim is a traitor to Michigan and the players that he left behind.  I hope this turns out to be BS.

Does this count as one of…

Does this count as one of our full assistants? In the past JayBaugh also coached a position;  TE, RB, or Safety. Will be interesting to see how Sherrone organizes the assistants' responsibilities.

It is ver common for the OC to also be the QB coach.

Finding a new coach is not…

Finding a new coach is not the problem. No coach in the world could win consistenty with our current policies on NIL and Admission of Transfers. Santa and the Regents need to wake up and smell the coffee or we will be left out in the cold indefinitely.

Craig Ross seemed quite…

Craig Ross seemed quite positive that we would have won the TRO, so somebody threw in the towel to soon. Was it the Regents? If not then who?

Thank you. Glad to be part of our family.

That looks like the correct…

That looks like the correct starting five going into Spring Training. The only one I question is Gentry as have not seen info that says he has the mobility and athletecism to block the blind side. He was a top recruit so hopefully will fit there.

A very bad surprise. He…

A very bad surprise. He would have been the only returning starter with an opportunity to really show what he could do. Mystifying.

This seems to be the crux of…

This seems to be the crux of it. The money offered is fine, along with more money to keep our great assistant coaches happy.  Just tell Jim that we have his back come Hell or High Water, and he will stay. Jim has evolved as a person. He is less driven by pure competition and more by - dare I say it - love. He truly loves UM and his players. This is where he belongs. Get it done!

Absolutely correct. If we…

Absolutely correct. If we can get a solid experienced CB like Muhammad we should jump at the chance. I too like the potential of Hill and Waller, but the key word is potential. A solid CB transfer to play one or two years is ideal for bringing these guys along - and we will need them ready in '25 with Will gone.  McBurrows should be fine at nickel, but one of the younger guys needs to be ready to back that up as well. Not much buzz about Cody Jones so far, but he was a solid recruit.

I love JJ for how he is both on the field and off it. But in the last few games he has not looked ready for the NFL. Give him one more year with us (Please!) and he will be physically stronger and more seasoned to embark on a successful pro career.

Looks to be a powerful FB/H-Back who can also catch the ball. He wears Bredeson's number 44 in HS... a classic FB number.

Very good point. Klatt has always used the more accurate "fancy stats" in the past, but now seems to be limited to these broad measures. Also sad the the mainstream media uses total yardage numbers most of the time.

Macdonald HATES recruiting, so even though he is at least as good as Minter on the field, Jesse is by far the more valuable College coach.

Rooting for Rich Rod (Jax St…

Rooting for Rich Rod (Jax St.). I spent several years supporting him a vain when he was here, so (despite the ugly departure from Arizona) I still pull for him. Kind of like hoping your ex wife is doing OK.
Also rooting for New Mexico State which is a very good resurrection story AND has former Wolverine Andre Seldon Jr.

It has been pretty obvious…

It has been pretty obvious about CJ as he did not even get PT in mop-up time this year to make sure that he has 3 years of eligibility  left.
I do not understand the comments here that assume Edwards is going pro after this year. How many NFL teams want a RB who averages 3 yards a carry in college? Edwards has a lot of untapped talent that hopefully we can unlock in the CFP and next year. A great year running and catching passes in 2024 is his ticket to the NFL.

Amen. I instantly fell in…

Amen. I instantly fell in Love with Michigan Football during my freshman year at UM (1964). We came out of nowhere that year to win the Rose Bowl. Over the years I have lived in some very remote places but always managed to follow my beloved Wolverines. Discovering MgoBlog 15 years ago has given me a wonderful home for my Michigan Mania and I am eternally grateful to Brian, Seth and all of the staff (past and present) for this enduring gift.  GO BLUE!!!

If he gets #1 RB snaps next…

If he gets #1 RB snaps next year we are in trouble. Purely as an RB (not including receiving prowess) he is definitely behind Mullings and perhaps even #3. Use his talent properly and maybe he gets take in a late round NEXT year.

We should also go after IU …

We should also go after IU  linebacker Aaron Casey as a grad transfer. As far as I know he is not in the portal yet, but might desert that sinking ship. He is a Dude, and we are losing our two starters.

Don't call me Shirley!

Don't call me Shirley!

Agree that the play calling…

Agree that the play calling was mostly unimaginative (except for Orji!). My big gripes were:
1) No Play Action Passes...Again!
2) Why run dive plays with Edwards when you have Mullings who is 1,000% better for that.

"The last time Brian ran…

"The last time Brian ran that fast his Dadddy was chasin' him with a stick."

Perhaps the committee would…

Perhaps the committee would go for the undefeated Seminoles. But I based my picks on which was the better team, and Oregon (with a win v. UW in the Championship) has a far better resumé.

Georgia, Michigan, Oregon,…

Georgia, Michigan, Oregon, FSU

Next Four: Bama, OSU, Texas, Washington

Also remember that this…

Also remember that this weekend is what I call the annual SEC cocktail party. Most of the league plays lollipop division 2 teams. Bama v. Chattanooga, Miss v UL Monroe, etc...
At least we played Division 1 teams in the first three.

Is there something wrong…

Is there something wrong with Jenkins? It seemed like he did not play his normal amount of snaps.

In addition to immediately…

In addition to immediately announcing a lucrative Long Term contract, Warde and Ono should publish a statement to the effect that: "We completely support and stand behind our Football Coach Jim Harbaugh."  Meaning: If you are coming after him then you are coming after all of us.

WTF are they waiting for!  Get It Done NOW!

Next year we lose C. Johnson…

Next year we lose C. Johnson and probably Wilson, so there will be openings at WR. Clemons, Moore and English will compete for starting spots,  and O'Leary will likely be in the mix.

The charade of avoiding our non-existent signal stealing was beyond stupid.

All was the best blocking…

All was the best blocking Michigan TE that I can remember. His lead blocks on TD runs by Haskins and Corum in 2021 were epic. Barner may be better as an online blocker (not sure about that) but as a lead or arc blocker All was the man... and a damned good receiver as well.  Sad that his medical situation with us was so strange; and with Cade as well (and St. Juste!).
Wish him well and glad that I don't have to root against him in the B1G Championships.
