Lighten up. The Abu Graib reference was funny... and made the point.

The oft-mentioned recruting mistake of not taking a QB in the 2012 class is why they had to needlessly burn Shane's red shirt.
Thanks Bronx for a great summary of a painful process...

Srsly - he's not a tight end... but he is a great athlete and will be a major weapon for us.

Thank you for the opening comment which perfectly reflects the feelings of so many of us who bleed Maize & Blue (not to mention the continuation of the Blackadder version of the Borges offense which never gets old). "The thing" does indeed speak for itself... and it boggles the mind. Someone has to take the responsibility for it.

Pretty sure he is still playing QB not RB, but obviously it's a run-heavy offense. This kid could be special at SAM.

He has played on special teams in every game = zero chance for red shirt.

For an unknown reason Deveon was left off of the travel squad to the MSU game. I hope this is nothing because I would like to see him get a chance to perform.

I remember when Brian was analyzing the new staff after Hoke was chosen. He likened Borges to Gerg as in - coach who has had some success when he had stellar players, but has not shown much aside from that. Unfortunately I think our Fearless Leader was correct.

Losing Narduzzi won't change much. The essence of their defense stems from D'Antonio.
|5 weeks 3 days ago||Yes, but according to Sam||
Yes, but according to Sam Webb it was more of a courtesy visit. Seems to be between us and Kentucky... and if we don't get Blackmon that may help us with getting Booker.
|5 weeks 3 days ago||Great Point||
Why is it that players from schools that are academic backwaters are smart enough to change plays constantly - yet our Michigan Men are not allowed to make the same adjustments. This also goes for not changing our defensive alignments/blitzes after the offense changes their play. Why can't we be the smart guys in the room for a change? (pun intended)
|5 weeks 4 days ago||No... But...||
If we play well, and Borges calls an intelligent game, but we still get beat by a pretty good MSU team ... playing what is THE GAME for them ... at home - then No.
Howevah - If Borges goes all reptile brain and has us at 2 and 12 all day, and/or we come up with nothing innovative to surprise them... and we lose... and Hoke makes no changes at the end of the season then... yeah my confidence will be shaken (but not stirred to point of despair).

Great work. This gives us a clear picture of where the staff is heading for the next 2015 QB offers. Time to look at some of their junior highlights....

Willie Henry seems the most likely to move to NT even if Pipkins recovers quickly. Maybe Maurice Hurst as #2 until Pip returns, though Hurst's future seems to be at 3 tech - very quick.
|7 weeks 1 day ago||Tanks and Planes||
Actually it was the British who brought the first tanks into battle in WWI. In our relatively brief appearance we did not even have a tank force - first developed one after the war was over.
Planes to WWII? I would say the Germans were the first to really take advantage of that technology. They were also the ones who totally changed the nature of tactics through the use of tanks. To our credit, we learned quickly. Soon after we entered the war our planes became the best, and we were able to vastly out-produce the enemy.
None of this excuses Borges for constantly running on first down when it was hopeless. The reference to the Black Adder piece was brilliant!
|7 weeks 1 day ago||Love G-Matt but the OP is right||
Of course we give him a pass because he is a great coach... most of the time. The lack of blitzing last Saturday was truly mystifying... starting with their first TD when we rushed THREE and he had all day to wait for someone to break open.
Mattison obviously felt that having so many bodies in the secondary would be very confusing to Hack. I dunno man ...pressure seemed so obvious.... yet Mattison is such a good coach... yet the stats put up by the OP tell a clear story.
Time to move on.........
|7 weeks 3 days ago||Green is a disappointment||
He was over rated as a recruit and has shown nothing so far on the field. I would give Deveon a chance - at least he does not faint at first contact. FWIW I think Fitz is actually running quite well... on the rare occasions when he has some space to run.
All of that said we would run and block much better if we would THROW ON FIRST DOWN!

Playing every year against a divisional opponent with a great tradition, a big (full) stadium, and a solid fan base should develop into an important rivalry. Three strong rivals within our division will make for great games in the near future.

No, by the time he got possession his knee was clearly off the ground. It was a very difficult angle judge his progress, but it sure looked like he at least got to the yellow line.

Kozan is starting at guard for Auburn as a RS Freshman
|9 weeks 4 days ago||He's a perfect fit for RR||
He's a perfect fit for RR with good wheels, a quick release, a strong arm, and experience with the zone read. He's also a pretty perfect fit for us as I don't see the presumed rawness in his film as a sophomore. Malzone is still my #1 guy... but I'd take both.

Great post. One question - when you looked at Akron's talent level did you go back and check the star ratings of the 22 transfers on their roster? I would guess that most of them were at least 3 star recruits as they came from good to decent D1 programs, so "only 17 recruits above 3 stars in the last five years" may not be accurate.
That said we still have a huge talent advantage... but not so much in upper classmen.
FWIW I am optimistic that we turn things around and finish 11 - 1.
