Thanks Seth. You bring back the memories of when we had the smartest offensive mind on our side of the field. Water under the bridge but still frustrating to remember what might have been... but hope springs eternal as we await the 'Hello JH!' post.

The big missing piece for next year is at QB. I am waiting for Brian to come up with a post that digs up some possible grad transfers from around the country. Malzone will be fine in 2016, but we need someone for next year if we are to take advantage of the returning talent mentioned by the OP. Fortunately Harbaugh is a masterful QB coach so whomever we get will have a great mentor.

What is the hold up offering Perry? He REALLY want to come to Michigan; not like the guys who are looking around and dragging their feet... and the kid can Play!

Hoke should have kept OL coach Greg Fry. He even has the 2 stars at Indiana performing well.

Great work and insight Seth (as always). Thank you!

Justin Fargas was the #1 running back in the 1998 class, and David Terrell the #1 WR.

Reply to #3:
Does that 150 point minimum SAT score difference apply to scholarship athletes? I'm pretty sure that a high percentage of our football and basketball players got in with the very low bar NCAA standard for SATs.

On the contrary this was very informative... even if it is a long shot for him to leave Wisc, after only 2 years. We got a lot of info about a B1G coach and more insight on what we want in Hoke's successor. IMHO Anderson has the potential to be much more than Carr 2.0. He ran a wide open offense at Utah State and I expect that we will see some of that once he has his on QB recruits ready. Long shot it may be, but I would take him if the obvious top candidates** fall through.

Perhaps Harbaugh's rap on Michigan athletes' academics will wind up being a plus rather than the perceived minus. Glass half full!

You left out the word 'not' before good in your comment. Boring offense... boorish manner... no thanks.

From what we have seen I would not count on Shane as being 'the guy' next year. We are in dire need of a good grad transfer QB to bridge us toward Malzone in '16.
Pass to run by all means...

I am not a fan of Beilema as a human being, but as a football coach he is hard to knock. He took over a tire fire at Arkansas playing in the toughest league in the country. He is rapidly molding them into the type of consistent hard hitting team that he had so much success with at Wisconsin.
He does this with 3 star talent. So even though he is a DB (not that db... though similar) he can make a silk purse out of a razerback's ear... and is already quite competitive despite the lack of wins.

Let's not make the same mistake twice. Whoever JH wants to bring as DC is fine with us - money is no object.
|4 weeks 2 hours ago||Offer Grant Perry||
Kinnel and Newsome seem like they are truly committed to Michigan. Offering Perry would give us another solid player who would not waver... and he is Malzone's BFF. Those who say we do not need another receiver must be looking at the Emperor's New Separation displayed by our current crew.

Old news but... putting Hoke on the same level as RR is ridiculous. RR has been a success at every level... except here where he was sabotaged by the hidebound old guard.

Actually the real champion of European football (soccer) is the winner of the Champions League which is an extended playoff system. Yes, the winners of each league are champions of that league... just as the winner of the Big Ten is the champion of the league. But the best teams go into the Champions League playoffs for the following year and THAT winner is the champion of European football.

Absolutely agree... have been saying this in numerous posts. Get rid of Brandon >> Fire Hoke and let Nuss or Mattison be IHC >> take your best shot with Jim Harbaugh >> if he won't come than do whatever it takes to get Mullen.
|8 weeks 2 days ago||Wrong side of History||
Calling Addazio's offense "run-heavy" is like calling Charlie Weis "chubby". The first time we got behind and kept running into the line he would be booed into Bolivia. We want to get on the right side of history - to look like the smart guys on the field... not the clueless... not the plodders.
It starts with things like Tempo, imaginative offense, shield punting etc.. Addazio is the antithesis of where we need to go... Hello Dan Mullen!

|8 weeks 2 days ago||Malzahn||
Great post - thanks. I know Malzahn has no shot of coming here, but to take him off the list as a "complete overhaul" guy is the wrong reason. You really wouldn´t want to see THAT offense at Michigan? Addazio´s neolothic offense is OK, but Malzahn is too much for us... cumong.
"Complete Overhaul" sounds pretty good to me right now... and Malzahn did it in Year One with players recruited for Loeffler´s stodgy offense. I´d take him in a heartbeat... but it ain´t happening.

Interesting that I published the following post last Sunday but it was taken down for some reason... and now Brian writes pretty much the same thing. Question to mods: Why was my post deleted when Brian has very much the same opinion.
I tried to embed this but it came out strange...
