I would not be so quick to annoint Speight as Shane's successor. Malzone is a Winner, and every bit as talented as the other '15 QBs that we courted. I see him as a 3 year starter leading us to 3 excellent seasons.

With all due respect (because I agree with most of Brian's observations) the clips of Isaac from last year show vastly more potential than anything I have seen from Derrick Green. Even with offensive line variance firmly in place, he looked better than anybody currently on the roster. Not explosive? A lot to like in the short cuts, balance and power that Ty delivered in minimum PT.

As noted several times on this blog - Brunson is a point Guard, while Cleman is a SG/wing.
They are being recruited for very different roles. Getting Harris fills us up at the 2-3... but does not effect the recruitment of Brunson.

We will miss him... and likely appreciate him more in his absence.

What are the odds of a "random" drug test being administered to a player who was clearly only suited up for moral support? What kind of system would choose this guy from amongst all the others? Aren't there any human beings with functioning brains who review which players are "randomly" tested. I don't have the answers, but the questions boggle...

Noticed in Green's instagram that Khalid appears to have shed most of his bad weight and looks pretty strong.
|12 weeks 6 days ago||Visit Date||
He is scheduled to visit us on April 18. I think it is his last visit so we have a good chance to make the final impression.
|15 weeks 3 days ago||Great Idea||
The optional extra point is a winner.
As for the 37 yarder, they will have to move the 2 point conversion back as well - maybe to the 5 yard line depending on what stats say. It should be twice as difficult = twice the failure rate. Not an easy stat to come by...

What can I say... posts like this are a big part of what makes this the best blog of all.
Thank you for expressing our hopes and fears in such a clear and informed way.

Here's some info and film on Jon Dobie. Any kid with those measurables is worth a look.

That's plenty tall enough for a shutdown corner... especially one who can bring the wood like Shaun. Will be be great to see him in the winged helmet.

|22 weeks 3 days ago||Brilliant||
The best rating system I have seen by far. Normalizing to a standard 25 man class was an excellent tweak to what was already leagues ahead of the competition. Ratings that still lean on class size to the detriment of quality are ridiculous. A gold medal to the Mathlete on the eve of the Olympics. Thank you.

|22 weeks 4 days ago||Excellent Point||
Douglas had a great senior year at running back:
Also would guess he is closer to 190 lbs. by now which is plenty big enough. I really like the move as we are well stocked with young talented corners.
|22 weeks 5 days ago||The (overly?) large 2013 OL||
The (overly?) large 2013 OL class will be gone after 2017 so we need to take at least three each year to get the numbers right by then. I'd like to see 4 next year (and would have preferred 3 this year).

"Little Favre"... nice. I love this kid and REALLY don't want to see him in green and white.
|24 weeks 53 min ago||Sione Houma||
I too think the RB depth is dicey. Perhaps Houma could move to RB as he is more agile than the other fullbacks and Nuss does not use the FB much.
|24 weeks 58 min ago||has a redshirt coming||
He will be a true junior this year, so can sit out this year, take a redshirt, and still have 2 years of eligibility.

Different classes and different positions as well - WDE vs SDE/3 Tech.
|24 weeks 5 days ago||Not likely because Webb said||
Not likely because Webb said we were still pursuing Ballage. I'm guessing it's the academic problems noted in the posts above. Also, I don't think we would let a recruit have so much say... except about 2012 QB (I know - dead horse...).
|24 weeks 6 days ago||Recruiting Never Sleeps||
Thanks Brandon - we need our recruitnik fixes over the weekends.
I'd be happy with both Jones and Mack.
|25 weeks 22 hours ago||Safety?||
Mack's highlights on defense are pretty impressive so we may be looking to take him AND Jeff Jones. Start them both out at RB and have safety as a .... safety net.
|25 weeks 3 days ago||Heck is also our recruiting||
Heck is also our recruiting coordinator so it makes sense for him to check out a new possible offeree.
|26 weeks 2 days ago||Inside Zone||
That's what I have read, and he uses the outside zone for counters (what are these "counters" you speaketh of?). Sounds like the kind of simple yet nunaced system that could bring a quick turnaround.
