My kids are 6 and 8, and until recently we successfully limited their show consumption to whatever they could find in the PBS Kids app.  A couple of favorites are Wild Kratts, Ready Jet Go,  etc. they’re all somewhat educational and entertaining.  They could also have some autonomy cuz we just said choose whatever you want on the app.

also Bluey is truly the best.

I see some similarities with you, lawlright. I'm 37, two kids, great wife, house, job, lots of good stuff.  I've been sober for 18 months.  I'm lucky to have never had any medical or legal problems from drinking, but for a long time I sorta felt like I drank too much... trying to escape some tough stuff in 2020 led me to drink more and more: 2-3 nights a week became 4, then 5, then 6.  My wife justifiably, thankfully, and graciously called me out about it. I went to an AA meeting via zoom the next day and have been sober since.  I dunno if AA is a forever-thing for me (I go to one meeting a week now and I know I'll never be as rah-rah about it as many are).  But sobriety's worked well for me so far and is working today as well!

Glad you brought this up, it's still a bit uncomfortable for me to talk about sometimes; I'm no expert but am definitely available to chat if you (or anyone) wants.

oh also, Michigan has not lost to OSU since I sobered up, so I'll do my best to keep that streak alive!

Deep connections with the family indeed -- Given the name & hometown, Chase Pietila is likely a relative (cousin?) of former Wolverine (and short-term NHLer) Dwight Helminen.

Glad to be a season ticket holder again for the first time since being a student 10 years ago; excited to make the trip from Chicago a few times this year and pass off other tickets to deserving M fans the weeks we can't make it!

All about context?

Since Hibbitts has been reported by everyone to be a Preferred Walk-on, seems like this scenario is "You're a walk-on and may have the opportunity for a scholarship any year that one is left over from the scholarship players.  This year it's very likely we will have one for you."

The negative way would be "You're a scholarship player!" then two years later... "No you're not any more."

Hibbitts comment vindication!

I had the same thought about him when he committed, and now I feel smart. Yay me!

http://mgoblog.com/content/unverified-voracity-likes-daytons-scouting#c…

Think they kinda maybe offered Hibbitts a 1-yr scholarship?

Would be a reason not to have Max back; they'll give the scholarship to a walk-on, right? Maybe they offered it to Hibbitts for a year.

Cool story bro

I was at a high school district playoff game he was pitching his senior year.  Brighton was playing the team that knocked them out of the playoffs in football a few months earlier (Walled Lk Western I think).  Henson struck out the first 20 batters, the last dude bunted and he threw him out at first for the perfect game.  It was ridiculous.

Reggie Cleveland All-Star candidate?

Seems like it to me, whatcha think?

I like the creativity graph!

Really an interesting (and new to me) way to think about an individual's contributions.

Might be helpful to label the quadrants (e.g., top right = creates for teammates and himself; bottom left = doesn't assist but needs assists).

Also, I'm curious how you arrived at the scale? Would it be possible to make the middle (assist rate of 20, percent of FGs assisted) the national median?  Maybe you already did that or something similar...

Trunk Club

Custom suit. Pretty sweet.

Player to be named later?

Was that a part of the Fargas transfer?

Wisely

There's a start-up called Wisely in Ann Arbor that is a super-interesting iphone/android app. The app uses payment data (credit/debit cards) to provide useful info about businesses to consumers.  For example, the app tells you how popular the place is (how many transactions), how loyal the customers are (how many repeat transactions), how much most people spend, etc.

It's sorta like Yelp except a better source of truth because it's data driven with actual payment info, so not weighed down by random anecdotes or just made-up reviews.

Highly recommend.

Daniel Horton My freshman year (2002-03), team started 0-6 before a 13 game win streak including the best comeback I've ever seen in a game against the Badgers. Maize Rage was pretty sparse then but proud to say I was in it!
Holy Cross

Also a non-bad RPI effect (RPI 134 and Kenpom 147).  These are the types of teams I wish we'd schedule non-conference - bad enough to beat by 22 but good enough to have a decent W/L and challenge for a conference title (projected 13-5 in Patriot League, 1 game back from 1st)

Committed 2/4/10!

per 24/7 - almost 4 years ago!

Learning curve

One of the major differences between last year and this year is that last year we were close to our ceiling right outta the gate.  This year with a freshman PG and former role players stepping into key roles (or trying to?) there should be a lot more improvement over the course of the year.  I think. and hope.

I concur

We've gone to Mullett Lake near Cheboygan for the past 15 years or so and it's fantastic up there

Also heading to London...

haven't been so don't really have an answer for you... but I'm going to London in September and am hoping to go to a Premier League game.

Any recommendations on which London area team would be the best to see? Looks like Chelsea, Arsenal, West Ham, and Crystal Palace are home that weekend.  I'm a casual soccer fan so I don't have a dog in the fight, mostly interested in experiencing a cool atmosphere...

Thanks!

I had the same question re: Bain

I first think of Bain & Co, he works at Bain Capital.  Either way, darn impressive.

New DE?

He's going to need to pack on about 100 lbs before challenging for playing time...
