Peppers at 10, which seems low.

Wasn't there a period when Harbaugh was a QB coach for the Raiders?
|5 weeks 3 days ago||Agreed||
Instead of being tongue-and-cheek about the fact that these are a terrible read, maybe stop doing them and come up with something different?

That place was called Ann Arbor Sports Memorabilia shop. The website is still up and it has the owner's phone number listed. He is still in business; just no storefront anymore.

If the score is only 29-7, no way they're putting in the backup QB for the fourth quarter.

In no way is this the "first real PR crisis of the Harbaugh administration."
A kid is having trouble with his academics. The school and the team have said nothing, because they can't.
Where is the crisis?
Sports writers, including this here blog, reported some information that was incorrect. This happened because a high school football coach turned out to be an unreliable source with a dog in the fight. This all happened during a slow news period.
That is all.

"MAAR" is terrible. Especially when said out loud.
The team calls him Rahk. Call him that. Or just Rahkman.

I'm not sad to see them go. But let's not act like they were some sort of abhorrent brainchild of an evil money grubber designed to Destroy Tradition.
It was a thing they tried because they thought it would be neat. It sort of was, but not enough to stick long term. It is gone now and the only effect was on what number a couple of players wore on their shirts. End.

These guys aren't really transferring, are they? Aren't they just going to grad school somewhere else (like most people who go to grad school)?

Yes. This is the correct interpretation.

I see this a lot on here ("going to walk into a great spot") and I don't get it. We have seen no evidence that there is a viable QB on this roster.
|1 year 42 weeks ago||Most of those things simply||
Most of those things simply don't bother me, or at least not very much. I will agree with two points: 1) the crisis management has been poor in two instances and 2) he did make a very bad coaching hire. Both can and should be addressed.

I've gotta say, I largely find his answers pretty reasonable. Maybe not the most likable guy, and I don't agree with all of it. But the "AD must go!!" Movement falls flat for me. Seems driven by people who just don't like the guy. Rest is noise.

I think a hat tip to the book that joke came from (a favorite of the author of this blog and probably a good chunk of the readership) would be appropriate.
|2 years 18 weeks ago||Appeals||
No matter how the opinion comes out, it will be appealed--probably multiple times. I wouldn't expect any major impact until the appeals process has run its course.
EDIT: Actually, I take this back. Looks like under the NLRB rules the decision is not stayed on appeal.
|2 years 23 weeks ago||Seconded||
I get the feeling that Brian has just never heard of it (understandably), but it is a very good school. I will disclaim that I am a little biased because my wife graduated from there, but the point is no less true. I did point this out to her as, in all likelihood, the one and only time her alma mater will appear on MGoBlog.
|2 years 30 weeks ago||This||
This is right on. It can always get worse. And so long as the same decision-makers are in charge, I am having a very hard time imagining significant improvement next season. I genuinely hope to be wrong, and it is all too easy to hop on the Doom And Gloom Express at this particular juncture, but I can't help but feel that 2014 will be the Brady Hoke Farewell Tour.

Got a game program and a ticket from the 1936 game against Penn, which is extra cool for me (I went there for grad school after undergrad at U of M). A pretty awesome job by the wife this year.
|2 years 31 weeks ago||Autographs||
A few years ago I started collecting signed 8 x 10s of U of M football greats. I now have about 100. I don't have a mancave yet because I'm currently in a 2-bedroom condo, but we will be buying a house within the next year or so and sufficient mancave space is at the top of my checklist.
Relatedly, if anyone knows of a store that might sell some harder-to-find U of M autographs, please give a shout. I have a few holes in my collection (examples: Jarrett Irons, Jerame Tuman, Tripp Welborne), but they are proving hard to find. And yes, I am aware of eBay.

Is it just me, or did they forget that FSU exists during the discussion of who would be in the hypothetical 4-team playoff this year?

Love the podcasts but PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE learn how to pronounce our All American left tackle's last name! Holy cow that bugs me. More than it should, no doubt. But holy cow.
|3 years 35 weeks ago||No.||
Not even a little bit.
You really should give up those early-morning cocktails.
|3 years 39 weeks ago||No.||
No. I am not. Asserting that someone who makes the choice to do something (play football for a major program) with full knowledge that doing so will put him on national tv and subject him to high levels of criticism and scrutiny for his play is "in over his head" (in other words, is not ready to play) or "not very talented" (in other words, may not be good enough to play at this level) is 100% fair game and does not make me (or anyone) "a douche." Personal attacks or unfair insults are not cool, I agree. Fans cross the line all the time and it is not okay. But these are simple observations about the game itself that happen to be true (or at least appear to be true as of today).
|3 years 39 weeks ago||Aaaaaaaarrrrrrrggggggghhhhhhhh||
Our offense =Denard trying to do stuff that is good while the coaching staff is busy screwing everything up. Without him, it is just the coaching staff screwing everything up with an assist from our obviously in over his head and not very talented backup QB. He is probably a nice young man though.

I love the podcasts, love the blog, love Brian's writing, etc. But does it bug anybody else that Brian seems to have a habit of badly mispronouncing players' names? Lewan and Dileo come to mind. Also Huyge (from last year's podcasts). Especially in a world where there are videos on the internet of most of these guys pronouncing their own names (i.e., the "Countdown to Kickoff" videos), it seems like something that should be done correctly. I hate to sound like a complainer. It bugs me though.
