Got it, thanks. I knew there

Got it, thanks. I knew there was some sort of rule change semi-recently.

Re: obvious goaltending call

I thought I remembered hearing a couple years ago that they changed the rule and blocking a shot after it hits the backboard is no longer an automatic goaltend - it can still be a clean block if the ball isn't on its way down. Can anybody else vouch for this or am I crazy?

Bilas and Gottlieb picked

Bilas and Gottlieb picked Ohio to beat M in the first round too. I can sort of understand, since we definitely overachieved all year and looked awful in the tournament game against Ohio (YTO), but still - Beilien has never lost in the first round of the tourney at Michigan or WV. Can't start now - I think he'll have them ready to go.

Cooper obviously seems like

Cooper obviously seems like the #1 guy to stop, but this Walter Offutt guy transferred from Ohio (YTO) where he got no playing time, but I imagine he's pretty talented to have garnered that scholarship in the first place.

Saad brothers

As great as their one year together was, I don't really like the idea of mercenary athletes who come for one (or two) year(s) then leave for (arguably) greener pastures as HoF candidates. I think some of the criteria has to be commitment to Michigan and while they certainly brought fleeting success, guys like the Saads don't seem particularly interested in the long-term success of the program.

I love the idea of 95% needed

I love the idea of 95% needed the first year after graduating, then it goes down each year to be more inclusive.

I dislike the idea of setting aside a certain 3 spots each year, one for each major sport. HOF members should be admitted only when it's really warranted, otherwise you'll end up with no one to induct for basketball next year (Vogrich is the only senior, IIRC)

Also like the idea of a larger inaugural class, and the individual plays idea is an intriguing one. Perhaps another distinction could be handed out each year like a special achievement award at the Oscars if something seems worthy: for instance, I'd deem Stu & Novak both deserve recognition for being so unheralded and helping drag M basketball up to its current level.

Maintaining a 3 seed

is more important than most people figure, at least in my eyes. A first round game against a 14 seed (Akron, Nevada) is a lot less threatening than a 13 seed, where it seems like a lot of the ubiquitous "dangerous mid-majors" are being projected (Iona, Long Beach State)

Not to mention that the second round game would likely be against a 6 instead of a 5 seed. Here's to hoping we close out the regular season with 2 more wins followed by more in the BTT!

Slight correction

Michigan's B School enrolls students after their freshman year now, so you only have to score a 3.8+ GPA for one year before they let you in.
