Ryholly.....go back to the red cedar blog...the refs are dictating this game with the lousy non calls....and MSU isn't winning the big ten tourney....go troll elsewhere!

Thank you Mr. Yost for your

Thank you Mr. Yost for your honesty. This is the worst offense in the history of Michigan football. If I have to read one more Sten Carlson post telling me how Al Borges offense compares to a Brittany Spears blowjob I am gonna puke! Al Borges has killed our year single handedly. The lack of adjustments and refusal to play to our strengths is mind boggling. You can see Brady is under pressure, that is the most balls he had shown all year going for it on 4th down. We went 11 quarters without a td versus some inept defenses. The faster Borges, Funk, Jackson are gone means this team has a chance next year, otherwise 8 and 4 will be a pipe dream. This is Michigan...not Ball State...youth is an excuse like dropping soap in the shower in prison not only will you get fucked in the ass but you will also be humiliated for not executing your plan!

John Beilien is a joke he has

John Beilien is a joke he has this team ready for a game versus Northwestern! An embarrassment! Neg me all u want I am tired of this! Completely unprepared!

The game...

I am not making excuses but if you really watched this game and didn't think the officiating played a factor I am not sure what game you were watching.  MSU got the same treatment.  It seems as if every prime time game in the Big Ten the officials get into the "home" crowd feel and go crazy.  Michigan is the commits the fewest fouls of any team in the nation.....before the we need to foul I think Michigan shot 7 free throws and Indiana 19......that doesn't seem right.  I just like to watch good basketball games but way too often this year all I have seen is the officials stepping in and taking control.  It's one game, doesn't really matter but the officials played a big role in the flow of the game especially early on.

Coaching....

I'm not going to be quite as positive as some of you....we had a week to prepare for "OHIO", and our defense was shredded all night.  What happened to the 1-3-1?  Beilien was outcoached and dominated by a MAC team.  This team on the road all year long was flat out brutal.  We have played terrible since the Purdue game.  I was hoping the Big Ten tournament was a fluke, but our same issues showed up again.  Anybody who drives to the basket killed us.  We had no answer.  This team was not a Co-Big Ten Champion for a reason.  I have never been on the Beilein bandwagon, this 3 point garbage killed us.  At the end of the game all we needed was a bucket to bring us within 1 point and put the pressure on them, all we did is jack up horrible 3 point attempts, this was even after multiple timeouts.  Is this all Beilein has?  We can try and sugar coat this all we want but at the end of the day we are the only Big Ten team on the bus ride home.  Quite frankly, I thought this was another poorly coached game and my fear is that Beilein will never be anything but a mediocore coach.  You can disagree with me all you want but I would like to hear some legitimate reasons to the contrary.  Go Blue.....I hope we learned from this and next year will be memorable.

Overall...

Is it me or did it seem like Tommy Amaker was coaching today....

Overall...

Is it just me or does it seem like Tommy Amaker was coaching this game today.....

Officiating

Even though I am disgusted again with Borges (Debord) with his horrible game plan for the road, the officiating was brutal.  There is no excuse, Hemmingway scored a TD he had possession and his knee was down the replay clearly showed it.  Roundtree was absolutely molested, either Hoke or pizza man better say something or else it will be a shame, the Big Ten officiating has been brutal.  Hoke better take control of this thing, there is no reason we should not be running a no huddle offense all the time to take opponents out of their offensive game plan.  I thought we complained about Rich Rod doing this same sort of thing in his first year, well Borges is doing the same with a very talented offense.

Borges...

What a pathetic game plan, we can promote Hoke all we want but today we basically got outcoached by Pat Narduzzi....seriously.....Al Borges had nothing for a constant blitz package?  I'm sitting here watching on my TV like many other Michgan fans just waiting for an adjustment, and nothing?  Really?  If Brady Hoke thinks he is just going to excell with words, he is wrong, the play on the field was atroicous today, put on a headset and get involved!  Denard had running lanes all game long and just waited for the pass which he couldn't achieve.  I'm not claiming to be a genious, but I thought that was absolutely the worst offensive game plan I have seen since Carr was the coach and that's saying something since I thought Rich Rod was the worst Michigan coach in the history of Michigan football.  Today was a disgrace, and if this is all Hoke can bring for an offensive game plan against a simple blitz package I again guessed right wishing that the only coach who could bring us back to the actual football we dream about is Les Miles......

Opinions....

I think some of the critcism toward Brian in this thread by some is a little harsh, we all have our "Opinions" one way or another, so to insult each other really doesn't accomplish much of anything.  Brian was a Rich Rod supporter, he has his reasons, and I respect those reasons, at first I was a Rich Rod supporter but as his tenure went on and the Defense, Special Teams, etc. sucked, I had a hard time supporting his same lame duck excuses.  Now as far as Hoke goes, at first I was a little disappointed in the hire, I too had my hopes up for Harbaugh.  But the more I hear from Hoke and others around him whether media driven or not I like the guy.  He looks like a football player, he LOVES Michigan, and depending on the rest of his hires I hope this is a turning point for Michigan Football History.  I will support him because I too LOVE Michigan Football, if he loses like Rich Rod does, I'm sure he will endure the same criticism regardless of the fact that he is a "Michigan Man".  I'm happy to see all the former players speaking about Michigan again, instead of hearing them call out their High School on Monday night football instead of the University of Michigan.  My point is respect each other's opinion's even if you disagree with their statements, at the end of the day we all want what is best for Michigan Football.  Go Blue....Good Luck Hoke.

Les Miles.....

It's pretty simple at this point....Les Miles or Brady Hoke, you be the judge an unproven coach who had one good year at Ball State, and beat up crappy competition to win at San Diego State, or a proven winner in the SEC?  All coaches come with baggage, RR came with baggage, oh well that is the nature of the beast.  At this point I will take anyone but Brady Hoke, lets see this scenario....I'm Brady Hoke that coach at Michigan we could really use a 5 star recruit like you......who are you again?  I'm Les Miles, I do you want to see my National Championship ring?  I will make you a winner and a potential NFL star like so many others.....No brainer?  Exactly STFU........Les Miles would be great at Michigan!  Go Blue......

Anyone but...

Hoke....one day he might be a good coach, but at this point with U of M losing out on Jim Harbaugh Michigan will look like the ultimate faliure.  I can handle Les Miles, after watching the Cotton Bowl tonight, I would take the aggressive defense, and surprisingly the offensive play calling was top notch.  Regardless of some of Les Miles short falls, I think at this point he is the man to get it done at Michigan.  A proven winner in a tough conference, another 11 win season in dominant fashion, what is not to like?  I'm sure Brady Hoke is a "Nice guy" as Jason Whitlock profiled in his article, but right now he is not the right "Michigan Man".  We would be the laughinstock of college football if we fired Rich Rod, lost out on what everyone perceived was the guaranteed fit in Jim Harbaugh, only to settle for Jim Belushi's look alike.  Right now, my mantra is anyone but "Hoke".  Can you imagine the boos in Crisler arena if they tried to introduce him as the head coach?  Seriously, one good season at Ball State versus horrible competition doesn't qualify you to be the coach at "Michigan"!  This is "Michigan", not MSU.......Brandon better deliver, and deliver in a big fashion, I'm not a season ticket holder but average going to about 4 games a year, if Brady Hoke is the named the head coach I will seriously reconsider my purchases, I love Michigan and as a 1999 alumnist will support anyone as I did with Rich Rod....but please not Hoke....not now, we can't afford another "3" years!  Go Blue.....I'm still holding out hope that Brandon has this all in hand....

I agree with JMBLUE...

On this topic....I'm tired of hearing about the youth, injuries, etc. for the reason's why this defense is the worst ever in the History of Michigan Football.  Excuses are like...you know what and at this time in juncture that is not what we need for this football program to excel.  I'm a casual fan and season ticket holder, not only are the guys out of place, take terrible angles, but they have trouble just tackling.  But even more telling is that I haven't seen any improvement in the defense since GERG has been here.  As I discussed in other threads this may be on Rodriguez as well if he has not allowed GERG to run the defense as he wants, but at the end of the day the this is a results only business and GERG has failed.  If the defense were only average this year what do you predict our record would be?  I think GERG will be made a scapegoat as well, maybe it's not fair, but the on the field results have been poor.  Brandon will address this after the season regardless of what Rich thinks or not.

I think what this showed...

Is that RR's offense even versus one of the best defensive teams in the Big Ten can quite frankly score on anyone, at any time.  Now for the negative, I do not know how often an athletic director is on the sideline but Dave Brandon was in the thick of it today.  That being said, I believe RR will still be given the ultimateum that the defensive staff will be fired and replaced by a Defensive Coordinator who will be given more or less complete control of that side of the ball.  There were times during this game, regardless of the talent we have that I thought a High School team could put 21 points up on this team.  Glad to see we blitzed on the final 2 point conversion, because there were countless times during the game we should have blitzed and brought 3 guys, that doesn't cut it regardless of talent.  Go Blue, Big WIn, 7 and 5 looks real possible, and maybe with a good bounce or two Wisconsin could be beatable at home for that magic 8 win season which is above and beyond all we could hope for given the injuries, youth, etc.

I think RR is safe...

if he get's to 6 and 6, I think that's pretty clear from Brandon's statements.  However, if we do lose out similar to last year and Wisconsin blows us out at home coupled with an Ohio State beating there is not a chance Brandon can explain to the major boosters why RR stays.  I agree with most posters, GERG will be another scapegoat, do we know if he is unable to run the defense as he wants or does RR have his hands in on making GERG run the 3-3-5?  If RR is controlling what GERG runs then he has to bare the blame.  Contrary to some I believe Brandon needs to inform RR that if he does fire GERG that he needs to hire a defensive coordinator and allow that person to assemble their own staff similar to Illinois.  Nobody likes a micro-manager but given the results of the past 3 seasons, I do not think it would be a bad idea for Brandon to get his hands in on this situation if RR is to keep his job.  I will reserve my final judgment until the season ends.....

Go Blue!

At the end of the day....

Wed all want to support Rich Rod because we love Michigan, but there is not enough postives to show this is going to change.  I'm sick of hearing GERG is the problem, we don't have the talent, we don't have the right players.....Syracuse has sucked for years and look what they have done this year with our former defensive coordinator Shafer....I'm sick of the excuses, I gave Rich two years, then I excepted the fact we may win 7 or 8 this year and expect improvement, I'm not seeing any improvement, in fact we are seeing more regression, and most importantly a predicatable offense,.....when is the last time Michigan even ran a reverse?  Seriously?  How many 3rd and short's now has Vincent Smith been given the ball and fallen down after a hand tackle?  This isn't difficult people, other teams watch GAME FILM, and we make no adjustments or bring anything new to the table.  It's time to send Rich back to Clemson....we need a Michigan Man, and we need Jim Harbaugh before we become the U of M Spartans.......

Seriously...

We just got beat on a fake field goal, really?  This is the WORST coaching staff ever at the University of Michigan!  Sorry if Rich Rodriguez is not gone, I'm giving up my season tickets....done!  I thought MSU was embarassed today, this is twice as bad!

Have we stopped them...

On a 3rd down play yet?  I think they have run the same 3rd down and 4 play about 3 different times now and we can't make adjustments to stop it?  That is this coaching staff in a nut shell I have yet to see any adjustments in any game which is helped us either compete or atleast be competitive in any game this year or last year against a legitimate team.  I don' want to beat a dead horse here but these are all the reason's why all of us our questioning our Head Coach, and quite honestly I believe we are all voicing legitimate concerns to the shortcomings of this team not only this year but in all the 3 years which Rich Rod has headed the ship.  I want to find a positive guys to tell me that Rich Rod is OUR guy and will be a MICHIGAN MAN but I just don't see it.....time to cut our loses before it get's even worse than it already is....

As another poster mentioned...

In another dialogue a few days ago that Jim Harbaugh actually was recruiting around the same 17 players as Michigan was recruiting.  I believe he mentioned something about him coaching to the players and not specifically to a system as Rich Rodriguez has done with his time at Michigan.  I really, really wanted Rich Rodriguez to succeed as I point to the WVU/Oklahoma game after we hired Rich Rodriguez...the problem is I have yet to see that style of coaching or innovation here at Michigan.  We still hand the ball off to Vincent Smith on 3rd and 1 for him to fall down on an arm tackle.  I want to see some Pat White execution, and regardless of Denard's experiece he is capable of more, but week after week we see the same failed plays in the same situations.  Plus our defense get's worse by the week, I have not seen improvement in any one area which is the most alarming situation about the whole coaching staff.   Again, I have supported Rich Rodriguez, he was dealt a tough hand, but this is ridiculous, Minnesota took it to PSU and we have 10 points!

Thank you...

For 2 years I have been given negative points for voicing my opinion about Rich Rodriguez.....I hope this game is the nail in the coffin.  Jim Harbaugh is available, we need a Michigan Man now before we become another Nebraska under Bill Callahan, this is a disgrace, and for  the 1st time in my life I am disgraced to be a Michigan fan.  I never thought I would miss Llyod Carr, but I do...I'd give anything for the Pro-Style Kirk Ferentz style coaching.  Please Dave Brandon save us!!!!!

Beilein's system....

Does and will work when he has the right type of players, however, at this point I don't see those players on our bench at this time. Hopefully he can continue to recruit his system guys along with catching a couple players like "Trey Ziegler".

Without Manny and Sims....

This is what we will be watching all year next year! That's brutal!

Beilein

Watching this team is almost as bad as when Brian Ellerbe was the coach...I'm all about having continuity with the basketball program, but I'm not sure Beilein is the right coach. If Manny Harris leaves like most of us expect, we may score 40 points a game next year. Honestly, if Trey Zeigler doesn't sign, we have nobody next year. I know Dave Brandon will be new on the job but I can't believe he will stand for watching a team similiar to "Hoosiers" out on the basketball floor. Crisler arena, next year will be lucky to have the lower bowl filled. I know Beilein has had success in his previous jobs, and I support him, but honestly, he needs to step up and recruit players. I'm all about these white guys sharp shooters from the State of Indiana, but if you don't have a big man in the middle, and a supporting cast, these Stu Douglass, and Zach Novak types will never get you past the NIT. Watching tonights game is bad enough, imagine it without Manny and Sims? Next year is going to be brutal.....

Agree 100%

I think most folks are disappointed, because in reality, regardless of the situation Tate has lead us to some great come from behind wins, and as much as we all like Denard he is more or less an "Athlete". Again, I wish he would have been put into the game earlier, as a change of pace QB would have brought a different dimention to the game, and also given Tate a chance to view from the "sideline" which always seems beneficial to young QB's. It was great game, and it is just frustrating watching a "winnable" game go down the toilet, but again, this is a very young team which is going to continue to grow and keep improving. My personal opinion is that we throw a few wrinkles into the game plan, as I feel our offense has become a bit predictable, I'm hoping the game plan is just scaled down due to youth, but I'm happy this year just getting to a bowl game, obviously seeing the light at the end of the tunnel and some National Championship chances in the near future with Tate at the helm....Go BLue..

Wolverine1987

You hit the nail on the head, I like everyone who watched the game realized Tate struggled throughout, I don't question Denard coming in, yes I would have like to seen the change of pace QB earlier in the game, but he lead them to a TD when they were struggling. However, at the end of the game, and needing to travel the field for a field goal, you go with your best passer period. I have been more disappointed with the play calling than anything, Michigan isn't throwing anything out there which is "new" teams can watch the previous weeks film and already know what Michigan is doing? If you want Denard to get respect as a threat put him out there with Tate, get creative, I was hoping to see some Magee "West Virgina vs. Oklahoma" ass whooping play calling instead is the "SOS".....Same old Shit....give your team a chance, Iowa is no way the "12th ranked" team in the Nation. I'm disappointed as everyone, because this was a truly winnable game, and we all watched it....Go Blue, just wish Tate lead us to a shot at a field goal, not the right position for Denard, if Tate was injured, then I'm all for Denard, but it didn't seem that way as he tried to run on the field, and got called back....

Please tell me why?

I got labeled a "troll" by the everyday forum last week after I questioned the play calling versus MSU. So I again, regardless of Tate's struggles throughout the game, have to question Rodriguez placing Robinson into the game when you are going to have to throw the ball downfield? Tate has been great in these situations all year long yet he is not in the game? Maybe if Michigan wouldn't run that counter tray every other 1st down, Tate wouldn't have been subjected to so many obvious passing downs. I have to question Rodriguez's decision not to have Tate in the game when it mattered the most, I do not object to sitting him as Michigan had time on the clock, and Denard's running ability lead to a touchdown. I know 5 turnover's ultimately lead to the loss but at the end I go with Tate, lets put some blame on McGee's continued conservative game plan, I think Rodriguez has a lot of questions to answer, this was a winnable game, versus a not very impressive Hawkeye team....

Bouje..

I have read all your posts on here and you have to be one of worst posters on this site....you are one of those guys that sits home and cuffs your carrot watching re-runs of MASH....watch the game and post objectively otherwise your comments are off base and unrealistic, this was a winnable game, the coaching staff just didn't cut it, plain and simple we were outcoached by Tressel's little brother!

Jeff H

Your just as retarded...keep routing for Lloyd Carr 9 win seasons....this was a winnable game and quite simply the coaching staff brought nothing new to the table to win the game, that is why we lost, again, I never expected to be 4 and 1 at this point, but once we were 4 and 0 there was not a single reason we should have lost this game, none, go with what works, pass the ball.....it was simple again MSU couldn't defend Bouje's Mom rolling down line at 330 lbs....

Your points are well taken...

However, the lack of an offensive game plan that didn't resemble the last 3 games would have been nice, this game could have been over after Stevie Brown's 1st quarter interception but that great unpredicatable Carlos Brown handoff really fooled the Spartans, that's a play you go right into the End Zone, which takes the opposing team out of the game. Again, as I have been bashed all day long, is the same reason Rich Rod did not get his 07 West Virginia Team further after playing a conservative game versus Pitt....keep saying he cares about this rivalry, obviously last year we didn't stand a chance, but it was all on the coaching staff today, it didn't take a football expert to know we could throw down the field to our receivers all day long...and if you disagree the 4th quarter proved this very fact....

TateMcNabb5

Your comments are exactly what I feel however, some of the losers like Bouje who watched the game with Maize and Blue glasses disagree with our assessment that we could have thrown the ball all day and won this game. Keep giving me negative points for telling the truth, we should be 5 and 0 no doubt in my mind, even though I still am happy we are 4 and 1, there to me is still not an excuse for losing to the Spartans 2 years in a row for the first time since the 60's but we will let the homers like Bouje tell us nothing is wrong and settle for that Carr mentality that got us to a bowl game each year but not the National Championship which we should compete for every year....

Everyone is a troll..

Are your joking? I'm as big a Michigan fan as anyone, if you can honestly say you watched that game and thought Calvin Magee called a great game you must be smoking crack? Again MSU was the 11th ranked pass defense going into this game, and yet we continued run the ball for 3 quarters yet you can find nothing wrong with this coaching staff? Are you kidding me? I'm no Carr fan but I atleast he would put the ball in the air, as this game reminded me of 2007 when Henne (bad shoulder) threw to Manningham for the game winner, I was there, and once they couldn' run the ball they threw it....big shocker very similar today, yet Magee could adapt until the 4th quarter? A joke we had receivers open all day....keep throwing it until they sto it...

Bouje is stupid....

You must be retarted, did you not watch the game, if for one second you did not believe Michigan should have won that game you are an idiot!!!! Watch the game with some objectivity and not some Maize and Blue glasses, your comments are off the wall and brutal....yes I did not expect Michigan to be 4 and 0 going to MSU but after watching them go 4 and 0 I think they should have easily won that game, the play calling was terrible, and yes it was on the coaches, if you couldn't watch tape and know MSU can't defend the pass your ignornant...yet Michigan spent 3 quarters trying to run the ball, tell me Bouje, what sense did that make.....dumb ass!

Bouje is an idiot...

For one I'm not a troll, and second offer some objectivity in a game analysis? If you honestly think this was the best coached game, and best effort you are drinking some serious Maize and Blue kool aid. I'm the biggest Michigan fan in the world, and realize as well that yes we are better than expected, but there is not a single reason in the world we should not have beat MSU by 10 points plus....you simply don't run the ball when the team you are playing is 11th in the Big Ten against the pass? You pass the ball until they stop it which they can't and then you run the ball, this was a very winnable game even with a less than 100% Forcier, get you Maize and Blue glasses off and realize Rodriguez is a choke so far against shitty Spartan football teams...

Disagree Rich Rod was outcoached...

For everyone who wants to defend Rich Rod, as I have now for year and a half, I am totally against his hire at this time, he approaches MSU like John Cooper used to approach Michigan. I honestly thought we would pull plays out of the hat, and really confuse MSU, instead we get a shot to ruin MSU at the beginning of the game and run a simple counter play to Brown, are you kidding me? You go for the end zone after a big turnover? Did Michigan not watch the tape of CMU, Wisconsin, etc....there secondary could cover a criminal, it's a joke yet we continually ran the ball even though they were playing the run? What happened in the 4th quarter was available all game and shame on RIch Rod and Calvin Magee for not having a better game plan, that's where this game was lost, MSU did not win this game, U of M coaching lost this game, and I'm losing faith in Rich Rod game by game.....

Brutal play calling...

cost us the game, it doesn't take a genius to know MSU's secondary couldn't cover a MACK truck, but we continued to try and run the ball even though it was obvious MSU was geared totally to stop the run. We could have thrown 5 to 7 yard routes all game long and won this game. It was the absolute most pathetic offensive game plan I have ever seen....in the 4th quarter they finally figured out they could throw against MSU? Are you kidding me? That was available all game long...we continued to try and run the ball up the middle, and did absolutely nothing different than the previous 3 games to mix it up? Maybe a pass by Denard Robinson? Is it that difficult, that may open up the game plan when he comes into the game? MSU was agressive Rich Rod played this game like John Cooper...again, on the road, with momentum, Tate injured or not, you go for two, what Michigan fan would give them guff if they lost trying to win the game on the road after being down 20 to 6? That's the problem I have, very conservative, not what u can afford when your under NCAA investigation and U of M alumni have already questioned youe hire.

Outcoached?

I don't we think were outcoached as Dantonio became ultra conservative but I have to question Magee's play calling? You get an interception on the first drive of the game and the first play call was a run up the middle? I thought we would see something different today? You get a big turnover early in the game and common sense says you go for the endzone on the first play to completely change the complexity of the game. Michigan for whatever reason continued to try to run the ball even though it was evident MSU was playing the run? We could and dinked and dunked all game long for 5 yards here and 7 yards there and won this game by 10 points. I am extremely disappointed in the play calling and compare this game to 2007 when WVU chocked against Pittsburgh, I am really now after watching this game starting to question the hire of Rich Rod? This was an easy victory and to me we played extremely conservative football...
