Mighigan attemped to out Iowa - Iowa today and suceeded magnificently. At least it happened on a game that turned out not to matter.

Yea, I thought JH was all about the "meritocracy", so its a bit surprising that Smith has seen so much playing time. Especially with this struggles to hit open holes.

Get the fuck out with that nonsense.

This sucks, but given what else happened today, its meaningless. We are still right where we started at 8pm. If we win out, we go to the playoffs.
|14 weeks 2 days ago||Those play calls after the||
Those play calls after the last interception were straight out of the Carr/Debord/Hoke/Borges playbook. I had really hoped I'd seen the end of that ultra conservative bullshit.

This is still dangerous for us if we can't get some yards and kill a bunch of clock.

Makes sense, we are handing them the game.

Eh, making bad teams look good has been a Michigan tradition since 2008 or so. Looks like it's dying off with Harbaugh, but like a bad STD, flare ups like tonight will happen.

Clemson is playing like toasty hot garbage, and at home no less. Good for them.

I wish I could be as confident as some of you are. I think this is going to be a pretty close game all the way through.

The general consensus around here (backed up by the stats) was that Michigan would completely dominate MSU. So its understandable why some fans are in such an uproar over the team's performance. I don't understand why someone can't be happy with the win and also look critically at how the team played. Terms like "fluky" and "iffy" to describe what happened is rose tinted glasses nonsense and even more ridiculous when your 1st team defense is still on the field. These weren't garbage time points. They were genuine and somewhat concerning defensive breakdowns especially considering how dominate we were supposed to be. I'm happy with the win, but it was far from the beatdown most (including myself) thought it would be.

It's nice to see a coach freak out like Harbaugh did. I'd have to go back and watch it on DVR, but I'm pretty sure after at least two of those huge freakouts the defense recorded a sack or negative yardage play. They really seemed to be feeding off of his energy. So much better than blank stares and golf claps.
OSU's tears of unfathomable sadness taste delicious, but they will bring their A game next week. Michigan has a legitimate shot, but I'd sure feel better with Glasgow out there plugging run holes.

Hopefully. That is still a very talented team and I can't see them making the same mistake with Elliott twice, especially after watching the Indiana tape.
|1 year 14 weeks ago||Michigan has been terrible on||
Michigan has been terrible on the road for the last several years against anything remotely resembling a quality team. The last quality win? Sugar Bowl? Capital One? Notre Dame 06'? Ouch.
|1 year 14 weeks ago||Refreshing to not throw in||
Refreshing to not throw in the towel with :47 left in the half. Those are the small things that can turn into big things in close games. What a difference a year and an entire coaching staff make. Hopefully another difference is halftime adjustments, as in, I hope there are adjustments, especially on defense.
|1 year 18 weeks ago||Meh. After the initial||
Meh. After the initial shock, I mostly feel indifference towards the whole thing. After the unmitigated tire fire of the last 7 years this seems small. Yes, the manner in which the game was lost was shocking, but it was also a fluke. It was much more depressing for me to watch RR and BH teams go out and be totally uncompetitive with no signs of any meaningful player progression week after week, year after year, death by a thousand cuts if you will. At least now I know there is hope for improvement instead of staring into the black hole of 3 man fronts, stuffed animals, vigorous clapping and competitive practices.
|1 year 18 weeks ago||Yes, yes and yes. Exactly||
Yes, yes and yes. Exactly how I feel. Fuck the last 7 years because they are making it almost impossible to enjoy this run. I just keep waiting for the other shoe to drop, a 30pt blow out loss at the hands of a rival, a sudden complete regression on all fronts, teams doing what they havent been able to do all season against us. It goes on and on. I know its crazy, and our coaches are so much better than they have been in the past, but I just can't help that nagging negative feeling.
|1 year 21 weeks ago||I'm not sure I'll feel 100%||
I'm not sure I'll feel 100% like "its the way it used to be" until we can win games against quality (or even just decent) opponents on the road. Not to mention, the last several years have conditioned me against reading too much into September football.

|1 year 23 weeks ago||There is a lot of whistling||
There is a lot of whistling past the graveyard around here. I predict we will win, but again our O-line will struggle, JR is going to get forced into making dumb 3rd & long throws that will result in interceptions. I think we get one rushing touchdown on a short field due to a turnover and a passing touchdown on a moonball thrown into triple coverage. I'm going with 14-10 Michigan.
|1 year 24 weeks ago||I agree with C and D, I think||
I agree with C and D, I think our defense will be good, but it they could be even better if the offense could keep them off the field. The problem is, when your QB is having to force throws because of constantly being in a 3rd & long situation, interceptions are going to happen. In terms of B, I really wish Utah wouldn't have gifted us those garbage time points. They looked like they were in prevent, just letting us pick them apart knowing we were killing time. People shouldn't be hanging their hat on that series.
|1 year 24 weeks ago||I didn't see much in our last||
I didn't see much in our last game that leads me to believe we will win 8 games. I'm not quite sure where people are coming up with that. If you don't have a run game, your offense becomes one dimensional and your defense spends the whole game on the field. Fine if your QB is a Payton Manning type throw god, not so fine if your QB is a turnover machine. This has played out over and over again the past few years. We'll devour some cupcakes and everyone will be happy until B1G play starts. Then, once we face some real defenses, like we did at Utah, the wheels will come off. Harbaugh will get this fixed, but it won't be this year. I'm saying 6 wins.

|1 year 24 weeks ago||If I'd never watched a down||
If I'd never watched a down of Michigan football since 2007 I'd probably buy what you are selling. However things have happened since then, most of them bad and most of them started out in similar fashion to this. No run game, turnover prone QBs, defenses that spend too much time on the field and predictible one dimensional offenses. We blow or first game or have an underwhelming performance against a cupcake and people come out of the woodwork to proclaim how X coach is going to get it turned around and we are all overreacting. All that bullshit never lasted past our first trip to the B1G woodshed and guys like you were bitching right along with the rest of us.
