Way to show confidence in your team by running out the clock with a minute left...
I know he's a freshman qb but that's just horrible. On the road, Rose Bowl and Big Ten title on the line and you don't even try to win? Wow.
Definitely agree with the "no guarantee of getting the ball back" making it a 5 point game still means you have to get the ball back and score a touchdown whereas going for it guarantees you have a chance to tie the game if you convert.
The problem wasn't the offense. Tate was playing well, no reason to put in Denard. If it ain't broke don't fix it type of situation.
When your offense puts up 36 points with a missed field goal and the ball turned over on downs inside the twenty yard line, you don't need to tinker with it.
I think it's important to note that the talent gaps between big schools and little schools has decreased significantly in recent years, especially with the advent of the spread offense and other talent leveling schemes.

I'd be interested to see if those number munchers? crunchers? could look and see if the amount of undefeated or one loss seasons has decreased over recent years.
What you're missing is an admiration for the speed in which Spikes eye gouged the other guy. The Big Ten is too slow now days with punches and groin shots
Spread out tailgates + quiet "wine and cheese" crowd at at a 100K plus stadium are probably why they say it's overrated. I'd put the state street tailgates up against any other college atmosphere though.
