Another Great Season

I am definitely hurting right now, and the finality of the last game of a long season always comes as somewhat of a shock, but damn am I proud of this team.  I am always going to root for Michigan and be happy when they succeed, but it makes it that much more special when the guys work so well together, play so hard, are so likeable and represent the program so well, and this group does that like no other.  As has been mentioned before, if someone approached me after the Charlotte loss and said, "You're going to lose McGary for the season but I'll bet you $100 that you'll be tied with 20 minutes separating you from a return to the Final Four." I would have taken that bet and assumed that person was a complete fool.  I would have been so happy to lose that bet, and who knew the ride to this unlikely point would be such a joy?  As a Knicks fan, I remember the frustration of all those 90s teams that just couldn't get over the hump.  I look at the state of the Knicks now and long for the Ewing era.  You never know when the good times will end, so I've learned to appreciate those times in the moment, even when there is heartbreak mixed in.  This is a special era for Michigan Hoops with a special group of players, and I won't let this loss ruin the warm and fuzzies I feel for them.  Go Blue!

Unfortunately

Unfortunately I had the same thought pretty much right after the game ended.  Better teams than this have failed to reach the finals.  The tournament format is so exciting but it also makes for more random results than probably any other sport.  That's why it hurts so much to get so close but not win, knowing how tough it will be to get back no matter how good future teams will be.  This one will sting for a while.
