“The player development is the main thing I like (about Michigan),” Williams said. “You can see that they develop their players. They get them in the gym and they work them hard. And their hard work pays off.”

Someone needs to poke him about the OL. Isn't that the biggest wildcard this season? What is he hearing about Nussmeier? Are we going to turn this thing around and how confident are the coaches feeling about the OL?

If the SRS system isn't a good metric (and I agree it's not), I'd like to hear everyone's ideas on how to best match up conferences. My general feeling is that the Big Ten was underrated in the late 1990s and first few years of the 2000s. We've been in a tailspin since then. And adding Rutgers and Maryland is just causing us to sink faster. Anyways, what about a comparison of the Vegas line for each game compared to the outcome? It would show that the conventional wisdom could likely consistently underrate Big Ten teams.
Also, many of those Big Ten/SEC bowl games involve lower ranked BigTen teams playing relatively higher ranked SEC teams. Not to mention that we play the games down in SEC country. So any metric should keep in mind that we are often set up to lose. What if every year our best Big Ten teams played in bowls in the north against teams that finished lower in the SEC?
It gets me to what I think would be a good replacement for the conference championship game. I hate conference championship games, in part because of the prospect of a rubber match, in part because it is a weekend in which all the conference teams ought to be playing rather than only the top two. Here's what would be a lot more exciting: all Big Ten teams lined up top to bottom playing against all the SEC teams lined up top to bottom. The next year, we could switch and do the same with the Pac 10 or Big 12.

I'd be curious to know how our '97 championship defense compares, both in terms of how many players went to the nfl, and how long they played.

Tom Harmon. Even setting aside his off the field accomplishments, which are astounding (am I the only one who has read Pilots Also Pray?), his 1940 game against OSU was probably the single best college football performance of all time by any player in any game, and it was against our big rival.

There's also a BBC documentary on radical nationalism surrounding soccer, and it that gets particularly bad in Eastern Europe. I lived in Europe several times and can attest to that. Teams fans divide themselves along class, religious, and ethnic lines and then bring all that baggage to the games.

Odd moment for me. This evening I went to the Pelicans vs. Jazz game and sat right next to the Jazz bench and Trey Burke. Game took place during the Michigan/Tennessee game. I felt like calling out the score to him, but I figured that would be weird. Here are photos/video.
PS: what the F is wrong with this god damn website. I try to post photos of Trey Burke from up-close this evening and this anti-old person computer input thingy demands a level of computer sophistication that only millennials have. Well F errybody here. I've got some good Trey Burke photos from tonight's game from front F'ing row sitting right next to the Jazz and I can't post them because the image input thing is speaking in Latin and there appears to be no way to just attach an image like the rest of the world wide web sites. F all y'all. I'm taking my cool Trey Burke photos and going home.

Do I get any bonus points for having been at the Slippery Rock game in the 1970s at Michigan Stadium? I think it was the largest attendance for a Division II game at the time.

Is this just some random poster on an Alabama site? Is there anything more than that? I understand that this sort of thing is fun to think about, but there really needs to be some evidence before we get all worked up.

As a relatively old man around here, I want to make an ignorant statement about the Twitters, but I think it may be important nonetheless. First, I’ve never done a tweet. Second, I don’t even really know why people think they can say anything in such a short burst of letters. Third, relevant to Michigan, wouldn’t it be good for Michigan fans to tweet positive things about recruits to help offset all the jerks saying negative stuff? If everyone refrains from saying positive stuff, and the haterz keep saying negative stuff, it makes us look even worse. I like to post positive stuff on this board about recruits who select other schools because I figure they may read our stuff. Lets respect them by saying we appreciate their interest in UM, even if we were only second best in their final decision. Just curious, anyone think we should not say positive stuff about recruits here?

Michigan 24, KSU 18. Shane uses the long buildup to the game to adequately prepare, Michigan's defense holds to a reasonable degree, and our O line repeats it's success from the OSU game.

They say Morris really chucks the ball hard. I wonder if this will be too much of a change from Gardner's style. Also, if Morris gets anxious he might be even more inclined to whip it hard. I hope he is good and relaxed, as much as he can be, and that he gels with the receivers. Good luck to the kid. Hell of a stage for a first game.

Call me crazy, but even though I'm a big M fan, I wasn't bothered at all by Marcus Hall's departure from Michigan a stadium. Given the context - a big rivalry game, a fight among the players, and a huge hostile stadium of fans screaming for your head - it's certainly an understandable reaction. I don't think he did anything wrong. People expect these players to act like angels even when we hurl abuse at them, and then we act all indignant when they react like humans.

This tweet brings up a good point. Would it help recruiting to make the numbers of recruits' heroes available to incoming players. It appears that the number is a strong pull on peppers. I don't like holding numbers back anyway, and if it brings in recruits, all the more reason to make the 2s, 98s, 21s, etc. available.

God damn defeatists all of you. This OSU team may be great but some mediocre big ten teams played them strong. A win here is unlikely but not impossible. Where's Brown Bear when you need him? Brian says we go down 39-0? Frankly I'd rather him just not make the prediction at all. With all the self-hate and comments about our team and coaches, if Michigan wins this game no one here deserves to celebrate.
