One of my all time favorite…

One of my all time favorite Michigan players. Wish him nothing but the best.

Me either. 2020 was a season…

Me either. 2020 was a season that should have been canceled to the point that wins and losses from that year should not even be counted. Harbaugh was more interested in protecting the players than anything else, a view shared by few, who were more concerned with money being lost than with the health of the athletes. As far as I am concerned, Harbaugh was 87-21, not 89-25.

Only one organization ever…

Only one organization ever let Jim go, and that was the San Francisco 49ers. Most people thought ownership was the problem in SF, not Jim. I have no idea what makes everyone so willing to accept that he always wears out his welcome. Even at Michigan, it certainly seemed as if Santa Ono likes and respects him. The fact he had to get involved is evidence of Warde being the problem, as does what has happened with other coaches during Warde's tenure. Jim does have his own idea of how things should be done, and I have yet to see any evidence of any area in which he was ever proved wrong.

The article gives too much…

The article gives too much credence to the NCAA investigations. It's pretty clear to anyone who has been paying close attention that the "burgergate" investigation is a big nothingburger and that the signgate fiasco is much ado about nothing and a matter that no one has any reason to believe was done with any knowledge whatsoever on the part of Harbaugh. Considering the fact that Michigan, for reasons known only to the administration, elected to agree to a pair of three game suspensions instead of fighting the NCAA on the nothingburger and knuckling under to the Big Ten on the sign stealing issue when a court hearing was about to occur, who can blame Harbaugh for wanting protection from the NCAA and the Big Ten?

Orji had a 13 yard run and a 2 yard run. The latter hurt us. Why do they never let Mullings run after he shows his power? Incredible!

The Wetzel article is crap…

The Wetzel article is crap. He still wants to make it seem as if Michigan broke the "spirit" of the rule when there is no evidence that any rule was broken. OSU and Rutgers sending their stolen M signals to Purdue in the 2022 Big Ten Championship clearly broke the "spirit" of the rule far more than anything Stalions has been proven to have done. All that is known so far is that he paid for some random dudes to use iPhones to take sideline films, but no one knows what was done with whatever film those dudes managed to take.

But with ~ 5,000 votes, he is still more than 30,000 votes behind the leader.

It was a good, if boring,…

It was a good, if boring, game plan that effectively eliminated any chance of an Iowa victory. We covered the spread, and the defense was amazing. We are #1, and we have shown it on the field, week after week. Was there any game other than Maryland where we did not cover the spread? Even in this slogfest, we covered the spread and with a couple of balls being caught that were, instead, dropped, it could have been a good bit more. Go Blue!

Any idea why Edwards did not…

Any idea why Edwards did not take the way outside to get the 58 yard TD? Is it just another example of the same poor choice of alternatives that has seemed to plague him in the UFRs?

This is the second game in a…

This is the second game in a row where a Michigan player removed his helmet to celebrate an interception. In the Maryland game, the interception was overruled and deemed an incompletion, so the 15 yard penalty really hurt Michigan. In this game, that same stupid act of euphoria could have given OSU the game if the interception ruling had again been overturned and OSU been moved 15 yards closer to the Michigan endzone. The players need to be told that no helmet is ever to be removed as part of a celebration until the player is safely on the sideline.

Irreparable harm is not a …

Irreparable harm is not a "pretty high standard," but, instead, a type of harm not remediable with money damages. The irreparable harm standard is easily satisfied in this case.

I am less pessimistic than…

I am less pessimistic than the other lawyers. This punishment is such a tortuous misapplication of the sportsmanship rule as to almost of necessity make it arbitrary and capricious. After admitting it has no evidence to show misconduct by Jim Harbaugh, the Big Ten nonetheless aims its punishment entirely at Jim Harbaugh. It is also disproportionate to any other punishment ever levied on any other institution or person by virtue of a sportsmanship violation. Before any major punishment has ever occurred in the past, there has been a completed investigation. In this instance, if Stalions did this entirely on his own without his personally attending any game after he  became an official staff member, then there is a good argument that there is not even a violation of any rule. Everything about this makes it seem like an appropriate case for an injunction that precludes pre-investigation punishment and an ultimate victory in court. So, I remain optimistic.

Why do you think the Big Ten…

Why do you think the Big Ten could remove it? There may well not be complete diversity, as every college is a "member," including at two in Michigan.

As a long-time big firm…

As a long-time big firm litigation partner in the DC area, I have had cases against W&C, have had my firm retain them when an unhappy litigant decided to sue me and my AMLAW 25 firm and have worked with W&C partners who, like me, are members of the NITA faculty. In all instances, the W&C attorneys have shown themselves to be effective counsel. If Michigan has a legal leg to stand on, and my assessment (blurred to a degree by fanaticism) is that Michigan has a very strong case if either the Big Ten or NCAA try to do anything based on the flimsy evidence reported to date that does not show that anyone higher than Stalions ever made use of any information he gathered.

If the Big Ten or NCAA decided to go forward anytime soon, the best thing about this will be Michigan's ability to conduct broad and sweeping discovery into the conduct of every single Big Ten school and take depositions of a number of coaches and administrators. That is something that the W&C lawyers know exactly how to do and something that ought to scare quite a few potential deponents.

Have been elated about…

Have been elated about having Harbaugh as a coach throughout his tenure. He embodies the spirit of MIchigan by emphasizing academics and character to as great an extent as athletic skills while demanding the most of all players in all these areas AND GETTING IT. Michigan is comprised of players who I will be proud to have as alums when their playing days at Michigan are over, and under Jim Harbaugh the percentage of the players who do graduate and become alums - a great many at all-Big 10 academic levels - has been the highest in the program's history.

Go Blue! And thank you, Jim Harbaugh!

Joe Schmidt, Jack…

Joe Schmidt, Jack Christiansen, Yale Lary, Jim David, Hopalong Cassidy and Bobby Layne (don't forget the y). Stayed very good until the AFL was formed and lost their draft picks to AFL teams except for Nick Eddy, who they signed for half of Dearborn and was promptly injured, never playing a down in the regular season.

Not only is BC getting fewer carries, it seems like a great many of them are in short yardage situations, either near the goal line or on 3rd and short. He has 12 rushing TDs on 96 carries (a TD every 8 carries) in 7 games. I'll take it. Last year after 7 games he had 11 rushing TDs (5 against UConn) on 146 carries.

Don't lie to them, just tell them to go perform a physically impossible act on themselves.

And, I do not think Harbaugh lied. The story I heard was that the Brown Jug gave them free burgers, Harbaugh found out about it and sent $10 as a tip to the server and then forgot about the whole thing. Do you remember every $10 you spent in the last 6 months? I can't even remember stuff that small the following day.

Not only do the timeouts for commercials dramatically lengthen games, they also impact outcomes by bringing a game to a screeching halt just when one team may be gaining momentum. And no one listens to the commercials anyway.

Having gone to both myself, I think he made a brilliant choice.

Before the 2020 season, Jim…

Before the 2020 season, Jim Harbaugh had won 72% of all his games as head coach at Michigan and 77% of his regular season games. To me, 2020 should not even be counted, as I believe he cared more about the health of his players in a season that should have been cancelled than about the meaningless games that were played. No power five conference program would have fired him.

You are the kind of "fan" that makes it harder for Michigan athletics to succeed, the prototypical ingrate who appreciates too little and criticizes too much.

Life is ever changing, and I don't blame the coach for reacting to the changes that are ongoing in a manner that makes him continue to evaluate his situation. If Michigan does not want to play the NIL game, then it makes it hard for him to compete. If Manuel does not stand up for him, in the most public manner possible, when the NCAA goes even more bonkers than usual, it makes it hard for him to feel appreciated. I suspect that a year ago he was told Michigan would get its NIL act together, but it is just barely starting to get it right and still has a long way to go from everything that I have read.

To me, Manuel is a disaster, and Harbaugh is the best coach in collegiate athletics. We are lucky to have Harbaugh and cursed to have Manuel.

As a Lions fan old enough to remember when they won 3 NFL championships in 1952, 1953 and 1957, seeing the team fight through the last 10 games of the season after starting 1-6 was like a breath of fresh air and a dose of optimism for the future, especially seeing the contribution of Aiden Hutchinson! Go Lions!

The only thing I will never understand is why we did not have JJ running the ball much more frequently. It was the perfect antidote to what TCU was trying to do defensively to stop our running game.

It is absolutely the…

It is absolutely the obligation of the QB to make sure the RB has the ball. The fumble was on JJ.

Harbaugh did not hand the…

Harbaugh did not hand the ball off. JJ "handed" it off to no one (replay showed that Mullings never had it). It is up to the QB to make sure the RB has the ball. JJ failed on that play just like on the 2 pick 6 plays.

In other instances, JJ made great plays. In yet other instances he tried to force passes where he had running room to pick up a first down (saw that on several occasions). We all hope he will learn from this game so that next year we see the great plays without the miscues and wiser decisions when given an opportunity to easily run for a first down.

More than anything, the team showed true grit regardless of how the ball bounced (like the combo of the horrible reversal on the Wilson TD followed by the fumble). Proud of them.
