As a former cart pusher and bagger at Great Scott in high school, I want to share that I looked forward to carts scattered everywhere. Then I could take extra time away from the store. Plus I would see how many carts I could push. I was disappointed when shoppers returned their carts.
Last I read is that is retired in Pennsylvania. I still wear my Brookens 16 jersey to every Tiger game. Unfortunately those games are in Seattle so it’s usually only one series a summer.
Maybe the best part was that it was before the internet. So the hype felt even more concentrated on campus those years. The rallies on South U after wins were not phones held up for footage but instead students high fiving and cheering together. Present and in person.
I missed him before 2015. Now I miss him more. Nothing against any of the old or new staff or program. But it’s a unicorn to find that passion and competency and loyalty. Wish it could’ve continued for another 2 or 20 years more.
