I think the "new coaches"…

I think the "new coaches" argument is going to be a legitimate piece of the puzzle when you look at this recruiting class overall. UM went through a regime change (not as drastic as a whole new staff, but only 4 coaches returning is still drastic) and when you factor in that there was a delay in recruitment from the extended season coupled with the additional delay of the new coaches not being able to hit the recruiting trail until their hire was officially announced by the school (which is sometimes much later than when the news of the hire breaks), this program wasn't physically able to recruit during a lot of the months leading up to June.  Not saying that this is the singular factor in recruiting, but this is a class that UM is going to have to play catch-up on a lot of recruitments.

Also, UM's approach of emphasizing relationships and cultural fit (as opposed to say other schools that see a recruit and just throw money at them) has a lot of upsides, but one of the downsides is that it takes time to cultivate relationships on the recruiting trail.

TLDR: I personally still think its appropriate to treat this is a coaching-change class even though it was an internal hire due to the massive amount of staff turnover and the time lost by getting the new staff hired and on the recruiting trail.

So the "dozens" that you know

make up the 98 percent that are living AND hate RR.....plus...why say dozens when you can approximate the number of former players you know to 50-70? If you want RR fired and think he sucked at The Bust...then say it and suffer the wrath of givig op-ed in this thread. Dont just make up garbage stats....because trust me...98 percent of the MgoBlog posters I know just hate this type of stuff

DB would look foolish

The main issue presented here would be  that after three-straight losses, DB would be "All In" for RR. He would basically tie himself into this situation. Legally speaking, the extension would be another K and you would be able to make the argument that RR hasn't breached the new K (the extension) because he wouldnt have violated any NCAA rules since the formation of the new K. So...its not so simple as just extending his stay here for the sole purpose of solidifying recruits and then giving him the heave ho. Without getting into a lot legal BS, there are many ways this could be attacked in court and the last thing UM needs to do is look like they are screwing their HC's to save a few bucks and land a few recruits. Not exactly a good look for an institution that has gone APE SH** over some extra practice hours.

BUUUUUUUT

You're talking about Standford in the Pac-10. In 2007, Stanford upset USC and then went on to go 8-5 in the following year. UM hadnt missed a bowl game in 40 years and was always a contender in the Big Ten. Strikes me that they are such drastically different starting positions that this thread either 1) should be ignored entirely or 2) persuade those in the RR-camp  to take a harder look at Harbaugh

A big disparity between the

total offense numbers and the scoring numbers can also be attributed somewhat to the Defense. Look at the starting position on most of these drives; the offense has to do ALL of the heavy lifting. This offense is not only responsible for scoring points but, with the defense being terrible and the special teams suspect, they have to single handidly try to sway the field position game. If this offense had a defense that could get some stops and put them in positions where they didnt have to go 60+ yards for score, then this offense's overal scoring numbers would start to mirror the yardage ranking. Keep in mind, this offense's scoring numbers are also hindered by the lack of a decent FG threat. Essentially, this offense has a lot of things working against it  that makes the scoring threat zone (FG distance on in) much smaller and they are usually starting farther away from it than other top offenses in the nation.

Here we go.... Yeah, yeah, yeah....Belein's system is HORRIBLE!!! Which is why he is widely considered one of the greatest coaching minds in the game today. Look...this team has talent in all the wrong places. It has an elite scorer in manny who will get his points, but they have a streaky post player who is several inches too short to compete with the actual big boys. Would you rather have a manny-esque dominant presence in the post and a streaky three SF..sure; it would probably lead to a more consistent team. Then you have a few "shooters" on the perimeter. This team is basically one star player, one NBA D-leaguer, and a few corn fed boys from Indiana that are vinny johnson reincarnates. This team is built to be a fringe field of 64 team. That is all they were last year...but they peaked at the right time under the tutelage of JB and had two impressive games in the tournament. This program is headed in the right direction and if JB finally gets the talent in the places he needs, we will be fine. Winning national championships every year? Probably not. But a sweet 16 threat year in and year out...definitely.
